  • Cardio is not useless at all. Sure, you can lose weight by just cutting calories, but all you are doing is losing fat and maybe some muscle. Loss of weight does equal healthy.
  • I understand as well. I usually get hungry late at night. I keep lowfat cheese around for such an occasion. 2 ounces of Cabot extra reduced fat cheddar cheese is only 120 calories and quite a bit of hunger staving protein. That or jerky are good snacks to feel full and to keep the calories down.
  • Big thing to do is measure yourself. Weight is not a good measure of health and changes in your body as muscle weighs more. Also, you say you feel like your midsection is getting bigger, but that might be a mind thing. Get a measuring tape and measure your stomach, biceps, chest and thighs and use those measurements as the…

  • Welcome to the site. This really is a great tool and community. Congratulations on making the choice-that is the hardest part.
  • I have gained weight since then. It was a great program, but I didn't learn the life changes that I needed to make. I have made more changes using this website over 3 months then when I was on P90X.
  • Having done P90X I would say in the end your are probably not eating enough. When I did it I was eating 2400 calories a day because I wanted to lose weight. If you don't want to lose weight, then you need more calories, especially if you are doing the frisbee thing. But the real test is what does your body say? If you have…
  • You are on vacation-anything is great. Don't be so pinned down to anything that you can't let it go for a brief a vacation, even exercising. I know you don't want to lost all the hard work you have put in, but vacation should be a time when you health and weight concerns are about maintaining. Walking and watching you eat…
  • Congratulations on making the hardest change there is-changing your thinking.
  • The amount of sugar recommended by the the FDA is determined by your calorie need for the day and only includes sugars that are added to food. Anything with natural sugars does not count-fruit, veggies, and whole grains. Having three pieces of fruit and some whole grain carbs would put you way over your sugar limit for the…

  • That is exactly it. When you eat good food, you can eat so much more of it for way less calories. Our stomache doesn't care, it just knows when it is full. Wouldn't it be great if our bodies told us when we were full by the amount of calories we ate, not in the amount?
  • I choose skim milk. I have some in my cereal each morning and then use it to make my chocolate milk recovery drinks. I like the flavor, the no fat and the protein.
  • I am certain that is quite a struggle for you and I am sorry for how it affects you. The bad news is that it is normal. There was a study that came out just a few weeks ago saying that as women age they need to exercise one hour everyday just to maintain their weight. I know it sucks, but that is just what the medical data…
  • I am starting Insanity today and I have a question about mixing in a little P90x. Is there one workout I could skip and add the arm workouts from P90X? I don't want to lost those muscles. Thanks.
  • Your body needs to be completely rested before the surgery. It can't both repair what you did for excercise and heal itself. If you are going to excerice, I agree with dinosgirl that it needs to be light, just something to get the heart rate up, not something that requires a lot for the body to recover from.
  • I here ya. I am the same, barely losing 3 pounds since the beginning of March. Just remind yourself that your body will do its own thing. You know the things you need to do and and you have to keep doing them. You want to be committed to health for life, not just for when it is easy. These are the things I keep reminding…
  • You want to add more calories with out a lot of fat or carbs try adding some lowfat cottage cheese or low fat plain yogurt. Almonds or some sort of nut, while higher in fat, are very healthy and an easy way to add more calories. If you just want protein, protein powder is the easiest way. I add it to my soups and drinks to…
  • Never feel bad about blowing past your calories once in a while. It is going to happen and I hope you enjoyed the food. Just make sure it doesn't happen again tomorrow-that is the trick.
  • I have use both and I hated the wrist calculator. I had to stop exercising and get my sweaty fingers on the right spot and sometimes it would read and sometimes it wouldn't. I had a pretty nice one, too. I have never had a problem with my chest strap monitor and it was not expensive. It doesn't tell me my caloires, but it…
  • Sorry I disappeared after asking a question...life happened. Anyway, I agree with nardingerm, try upping the weight. If you want that burn and the size, you need to push the muscle and not the body. More weight will make the muscle fail quicker before your body has a chance to burn out. Feel the burn and 6 and hopefully…
  • How much are you lifting and how many reps?
  • ErCath, That 1200 is probably without excercising. The Net Calories shown at the start of each day is whay you should eat, then if you excercise you need to eat those calories as well. 1800 is probably pretty close to what you should be eating since most P90X routines burn around 600 calories. As for the no change after 3…
  • Are you tracking your calories? P90X needs a lot of food. I am on day 5 today and I am eating almost 2400 calories a day. With it mainly being lean protein and veggies-that takes a lot of food. To really get the benefit of P90X you need to follow the nutrition guide. It doesn't sound like you are feeding your body enough…
  • I just made this as I was craving chicken salad. I made a lot so I will have some on hand. You can modify as necessary: 2 tlbs olive oil or whatever you want to brown the chicken in 2lbs chicken breast 2 tbls miced garlic 2 tsp dried oregano 2 tbl light mayo or whatever 2 tbls Lawry's Mango Curry marinade 2 tbls Dijon…
  • For weight training, the best thing you can do is change it up. Muscle confusion is the key to not letting the muscles get used to a routine, therefore always having to work. I agree that P90X is a great program with a lot of muscle confusion.
  • Congratulations on losing weight. Now comes the harder part when you have to exercise more. Your numbers are right and you would have to eat that ridiculously low amount of calories to lose 1lb a week and we all know that is too few calories. The only way to continue to lose the weight is to burn more calories or to change…
  • If you set up your hrm with your information-weight, age, resting heart rate-then use the hrm. I use a website that I think gives you a better estimate of calories burned: http://www.triathlontrainingblog.com/calculators/calories-burned-calculator-based-on-average-heart-rate/. If you use the website, put in about 30 for…
  • When it comes to yogax, if the begginning is too hard, skip the first 40 minutes or so of the extreme yoga and just do the balance and abs part-always doing something is better than nothing.
  • Here is a website that will figure out your recipe calories: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp

  • It is very mapped out for you. You spend the first three weeks doing a specific order: Chest and Back, Plyo, Shoulders and arms, Yoga, Legs and Back, Kempo, rest day. The 4th weeks is a cardio week with specific excersies on each day. Week 5-7 are a new Rotation on the Resistance Days with the cardio days being the same.…
