I learned to not be afraid of hunger. It's not a crisis. Hunger is your body simply giving you a heads up that it will be tapping into excess fat stores for energy since you're not giving it anything new. Then it does exactly that, and the hunger passes. Ok! That's how it's supposed to work, cool! But if there are…

I know someone who stopped using a scale altogether and only uses journaling, how she feels, how clothes fit, etc. She doesn't even take measurements. She just tracks calories, those are the only numbers she pays attention to. She is waaaaay more successful than me at weight loss! I've been so intrigued by her non scale…

I have a friend who has been overweight/ obese her whole life, now is medicated for diabetes. When I told her I was trying to cut out refined sugar, she was like, "oh you're one of those people now? You're not even fat!" I think the obesity epidemic has totally clouded what people think of as fat/ unhealthy. Oh well, we…

Lost over a pound this past week (hooray!) But TOM might derail me this coming week. I'll get in some great activity, drink plenty of water, and hope to maintain. Have a great week everyone!

Life is a series of phases. You are in a new phase! Don't beat yourself up about regaining weight. You are smarter now, with more experience under your belt. Not only can you lose the weight again, you can think of ways to maintain better when you enter yet another phase of life - because it's going to happen! You've got…

Oof. I just put my low calorie day into the WW tracker (I paid through August, so I still have access) and I was way over my daily target. It's interesting to compare / contrast. I tried MFP years ago unsuccessfully, and I'm discovering now that WW taught me how to track. Now I'm back on MFP with so much more success than…

Macros are interesting, but I'm still new at this so I focus for calories for dropping pounds. Maybe later I'll have head space to pay attention to macros :)

I'm 41. This is going to be the best year of my life so far, I've decided. YES! Glad to be here.

Hallelujah!! You lucky girl!! He's out of your life. Phew!! There are some out there whose bf/gf are STILL cheating on them.... RIGHT NOW, in fact... and those pie poor people are living a lie and don't even know it. Thank God for your fat which saved you from a life with an *kitten*. Now you can thank the fat for its role…

Move to San Francisco. You'd fit right in. In fact, you'd be pretty much exactly average.
-
Add away! I'm pretty active on my friends' posts and updates!

I second what everyone else has said, but I personally find it refreshing for a guy to acknowledge the self image and emotional connections to weight loss and weight maintenance. I think the fact that you've acknowledged all these things is predictive of your ultimate success in your physical and romantic pursuits. Good…

I've tried that. I take it a step further and recommend that people do the hard work of asking themselves the underlying reasons for why they reach for food when their body doesn't need it. For many, including myself, it's hard emotional work. Without addressing those underlying issues, either you won't lose or if you…

You can add me. I have my diary public.

I second @DebLaBounty

Welcome! I'm new myself. I bet 47 is going to be a great year for you. I'll send you a friend request :)

I have a lot of similar experiences to what you've described, though I don't do the wine and chocolate. Perhaps I should :)

Lost 2.6lb this week. I only got that kind of result my first week on WW. I think paying attention to calories and where my calories are coming from is going to work better for me!

My understanding is that fats aren't the enemy. The low fat approach has been popular in the US for a generation or so. The body is designed to process fats. It's most often sugar that causes significant weight gain, diabetes, etc. So "low fat" foods are often sugared up quite a bit. I say try what is suggested for 2…

I'm still keeping some old WW strategies, like pretracking. So yes, it will be a good Friday :) Hope everyone keeps at it!

Congrats on your success!!

If you don't want to spend a lot, there's a fantastic little food scale on Amazon for $10. I love it.

Hi everyone! I just decided to move on from WW. Looking forward to following this thread. Feel free to add me, my diary is open

I say do it. I have the little fitbitOne that clips on my bra so I don't have to wear it on my wrist. I don't need the pricier ones. I use it to track my sleep quantity and quality, too! We make better food decisions when we're well rested.

Try to avoid refined sugar and refined flour (though... it's in almost EVERYTHING packaged that you would find in the grocery aisles). Eat fruits and vegetables for HALF of each of your meals. Whole grains instead of the usual white breads. No frozen foods. Maybe that could get you past the plateau. Good luck! You'll…

It was a photo. I didn't have weight issues until my 30s. Before then, I was thin and healthy and fit. Seeing that photo proved that I wasn't the thin person i thought i still was in my mind.

1. Logging is for pattern recognition, not for counting calories. If you can observe key success factors when you log, you can continue those patterns when you don't log - ie, half of everything I eat needs to be fruits or vegetables or I gain weight back, or I buy and eat a lot of beef so it needs to be 95%lean because…

Not sure if others have already mentioned, but i strongly recommend cognitive behavioral therapy. Work on reengineering your synaptic pathways! It works. It saves lives. I'm pulling for you. ❤

You did it before, so you KNOW you can do it. Motivation to stop overeating is one way to solve it, but that's a fatiguing and unreliable way to go about it. Motivation comes and goes for ALL things. What about addressing underlying issues, things you FEEL when you first have the cravings or reach for food? What are you…

Just started. Add me! I am excited to lose my last 30lb.
