the are the good ones. I'm talking about the bad ones.

I actually gain weight even though I restrict calories. Or rather I did at first. I don't tolerate sugar or wheat well. If I eat that everyday even within a 1200 calorie diet, I will either lose nothing, or gain. I also have to restrict fat as well. When I first started my diet, for the first +5 to 7 pounds my body did not…

I just don't wanna lose my progress. I've had to fight for it
-
I forgot it did that thanks

I think I'm at the lowest calorie level one can be at and still be healthy, 1200 calories a day

Oh and I also bought myself some new SMALLER clothes for Christmas, which made the sacrifice TOTALLY worth it.

I think if you've been diligent on your diet throughout the year, eating some for Christmas, IN MODERATION, is fine. Having said that though, the average person gains 10 lbs over the holidays. I have not been diligent this year, so I took an extreme approach to Christmas. No Christmas dinner. Weight loss is what I WANTED…

You eat like me!

I can't do the hummus, tried that. But veggies are definitely in. When I stopped eating wheat in sandwiches for lunch and substituted grilled chicken salad, I started losing weight.

I think that when you are your age, that is probably true. But when you are my age, its really about WHAT you eat as much as it is how much you eat. I could eat 1300 calories a day with sugar or bread or added fat and I won't lose weight. I am allergic to sugar and wheat. So see you can't just say this is the way it is for…

People say that, but it doesn't work for me at all. Some foods are the devil. I know this is supposed to be the current thinking, but I think people have to listen to their own bodies because everyone is different. If I ate like you, even in small portions I'd easily weigh over 200 lbs.

I say low fat because one day I came across a roasted chicken recipe from a woman who was on a low carb diet and she used 5 tbsp. of olive oil (a total of 600 calories) which all ended up at the bottom of the pan soaking the veggies full of oil. I just can't eat like that. But white refined carbs are the worst of all.

I have difficulty with hunger. I'm not nearly as active as you are. I notice for myself, if I eat a lot of protein, ie., chicken, it helps the most with hunger. If I have a day when I haven't eaten chicken or some form of dense protein, I'm hungry all day long. I also use a low carb diet, but if I were running like you…

Hi, I use a product called "better than boullion." It's a vegetable soup paste made from veggie stock. Add whatever you want from there. I add onions celery cabbage. I add cauliflower too, the main reason being, it is the only thing in the soup that is satisfying to me. I also add green peppers or red peppers, but that…

question: What is a realistic goal weight for someone over 50, 5'5"?

For anyone wanting the recipe for the Lebanese chicken: here is the original. I think this person is supposed to be on a paleo diet, only for the life of me I don't see how you can lose weight with all that oil and fat. But I am sure the original is 100 x better than my modified.…

Boy do I feel your pain. I am not a diabetic. It does run in my family. Since I am not diabetic, I will call my issue, sugar sensitivity which has turned into Carb sensitivity. I know there are people out there and on this board who will tell you they are diabetic and they are not experiencing your issues. That's fine,…

What is the difference between paleo and just a low carb diet?

So little of it is diet and exercise. Most of it is mood and inner healing. I believe I did deal with that in my earlier post. Mood swings and medication ARE the issue with depression and PTSD and how you cope with them. Maybe I should break it down more. Binge eating IS the issue with depression and PTSD. In my case the…

I eat the skinless boneless tasteless. I have a very weird metabolism. I have injuries that prevent cardio as an option. Weight loss over 50 is very different than at 30. At 30 I could lose weight faster than most. At 50 its like pulling teeth. Calories now are not as important as WHAT I am eating. Oil Sugar Bread are my…

You know, I don't think you are that far off Kristi. Nor the epitome of all that is evil in the mental health system. You believe in being an overcomer. I don't believe in just accepting an illness, either. But some healing is walked out and not automatic. With PTSD, it is a process. While I'm not ashamed of it, I am…

I've had some of the same issues. I don't take medications. I know that sounds weird, but sometimes I think you end up taking medications to get rid of the side effects of other medications. I noticed for a long time that when I would get really depressed,. Unless I ate sugar I didn't feel any better. That went on til…

That's kind of what I was saying. If I spray the veggies I either end up getting too much or too little. If you roast potatos with no oil they turn out pretty nasty and inedible. I tried the recipe with 1 tbsp. of oil and ended up gaining weight. I get sick of chicken. But other than fish, it really is the best meal out…

What do you guys think about using margarine instead of the olive oil or butter. It's 1/2 calories but I've been told by more than one person (including my biology professor) that country crock is closer to plastic in its make up than to food. I was told oil was better because our bodies have the enzymes to break it down…

So if I were doing the same thing for one person, could I get away with say 1 tsp?

When I got out of high school (and we won't say when that was), I was 5'6 112 lbs. I've been all over the board since. I wore a size 3 petite. At 33 years old, I started dancing low impact country and western. I was 117 lbs at 33 years old. I liked being that thin. I do think that's fairly unrealistic for me now. Now, I…

It really is amazing what a size difference that just 5 lbs can make!

One more thing. If you really are exercising everyday, sometimes you build muscle before you burn. I really like measurements along with exercise.

Too much sugar carbs fat (don't use myfitnesspal for that). I got stuck last week, I had to eliminate bread for a couple of days and really watch my fat. I notice that a lot of recipes that are supposed to be low fat have a lot of oil. (Dude, I don't care if olive oil is healthy. Two tbsp. is an extra 250 calories). With…

I don't think there is a magic formula of weight loss that blankets the entire population. I think its more reasonably, "what works for you and your body." I'm so different from everyone even on this forum. What you can eat and lose weight is probably entirely different that what I can eat and lose weight." I do think that…
