  • You probably burn off the 5 cals the gum is worth by chewing it. It's like celery - negative calories!
  • I just bought Wally Lamb's new book, The Hour I First Believed. It's amazingly well-written (not to my surprise, since Wally Lamb is one of the most emotionally-charged and intuitive writers I've ever read), but depressing. The depressing part is unavoidable, since it centers around the Columbine Massacre of 1999. I'm only…
  • I thought this sounded good! Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing -- imagine that. When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try. 8 - 15 lb. turkey 1 cup…
  • Yeah, it makes sense, and yes, it's correct. I don't know what exercise you did, but say you did the elliptical machine for 35 minutes. Put in your 35 minutes & next to the exercise, edit the calories burned to show the 295. Enjoy!
  • I have the Polar F6 with the chest strap, which I got at D*ck's Sporting Goods. I agree that they're totally worth it! (Oh my goodness, I had to edit the name of the store! I'm cracking up!)
  • It doesn't seem quite right to me, either. My heartrate is about the same as yours doing the elliptical and I burn about 300-350 in that time period. I think Lauryn has a point with the profile set-up...did you take care of that on the front end?
  • This is the HRM I have and I love it! Enjoy!
  • His wife doesn't even live there! "They're designing a tiny house for her nearby." Haha, I'm cracking up! These little houses are super cute.
  • Oh, and P.S., the Polar F-4 or F-6 were recommended to me by a friend who is a spinning instructor, if that helps lend any weight to the decision.
  • I bought a Polar F-6 (coral color) about a month ago and I  it! I got it at ****'s Sporting Goods & it was about $110. I'm still getting used to some of the different settings, but overall I think it's great and definitely worth the money. I'm more confident that I have my calories correct for the day & I'm not…
  • I had this same awakening when I joined MFP! I've found that avoiding lunchmeats, pickles, frozen meals, and anything with a lot of preservatives helps a lot. Frozen veggies are better than canned if you can't get fresh. I hope this helps!
  • Well, you shouldn't have to put down other people to make her feel better about herself. Her issues are personal, I would think, and nothing you can say is going to make that any better. Next time she says something, just tell her she's beautiful & if she can't see that herself, you aren't sure what to tell her!
  • Ingredients: graham cracker crust (regular, or low fat if you want less calories) 6 oz container of low fat yogurt box of sugar free Jell-o (same flavor as the yogurt) 8 oz container of fat free Cool Whip Mix the yogurt, Jell-o powder, and Cool Whip together. Spoon into the crust & pop in the freezer. Makes 8 slices at 145…
  • I just keep my dressing on the side & dip my fork in it. If you like a lot of dressing, this won't work, but I've never liked the light or fat free stuff, so I go full fat, just less of it!
  • I guess the one I bought was just too cheap. It would give me about 8 steps just clipping it to my belt. Then it would count the steps I took sporadically, so I never could tell for sure how I was doing. I used it for one day & put it down. "Investment" is a good word for it...I think you need to spend more than $6 to get…
  • I was just looking at this recipe on eatbetteramerica today! Let me know how it turns out!

  • Weird, I just had my first FiberOne bar today & I thought, "holy crap, I just had a mouthgasm!" I got the caramel kind...drooooooool. They're unbeatable (but I bought the chocolate ones too, just to compare).
  • I think the quote "I don't need to see this when I'm trying to eat" says it all. I'm pretty sure what she meant was, "I don't want to see someone else burning calories while I'm consuming the equivalent of the daily calories of 4 grown men." You keep on keepin' on!
  • Speaking of old groups, how awesome is it that New Kids on the Block have a song out again? "Summertime" is my MySpace song. Maybe I should be embarrassed but I'm just not.
  • Anything with pumpkin in it catches my eye. Thanks!
  • Mine's super-boring. My name is Michelle (thus "Chelle") and 17 is my favorite #. Not my lucky, just my favorite. Interesting, right? "MamaPants" is so cute! I call my mom "Moomalicious." haha
  • You would probably like Steve Berry's fiction series. I don't know if the series has a name, but I believe there are 6 books, and the first is called The Amber Room. It has sort of Da Vinci Code feel to it, though maybe not quite as much action. The books are inspired by actual events and facts, but the stories surrounding…
  • I heard this book will make you not want to eat meat or cheese, so watch out! I don't know if that's good or bad! Also, how is Duma Key? I'm a big Stephen King fan, but I read an excerpt out of this one & wasn't sure I would like it. Let me know!
  • I'm the guilty part who got her here, b/c I know she can do it! She's one of the strongest women I know when she puts her mind to it! Kick *kitten*, girl!
  • The Biggest Loser says nothing but good things about Subway, so it can't be too bad!
  • Was it expensive?
  • Uhh, yeah, I just submitted my food for the day & it told me the [usually] wonderful, "If everyday were like today, in 5 weeks you would weigh..." message...only it was 4.8 pounds more than I weigh now! Guess I have a hard week of work ahead of me! Hang in there, it happens to everyone! I'll tell you what, though, that Red…
