  • There might not be starvation mode, but there are slow metabolisms and health consequences for not feeding your body properly. It's your choice, a quick fix or a proper healthy way to get to your goal. Oh and a lot of the health problems don't show up till much later in life....
  • I have a feeling you are not counting your exercise calories. If you can get you a body bug or one of the other fitness trackers and see how much calories you burn you might find out that your body is starving and there for holding on to every ounce it can. There are a lot of threads out there that you can find more info…
  • I take it instead of anti depressants and I haven't had any problem with it. I talked to a friend (doctor) about it and he said if it worked for me why not take it? I use it mostly in the wintertime and when I have problems and not all the time and yes I researched it before I took it..I used to be on Zoloft and it now…
  • I love the walmart Great Value plain , I add honey and cereal and fruits and berries, or garlic and cucumber or different herbs.... instead of sour cream with salsa or pineapple....in my cheese cake ( can you tell I love Greek yogurt :smooched:
  • Southeast Ohio here, close to Jackson.... was in your area for new years eve... good luck with getting healthy and fit:flowerforyou:
  • Saute 1 small onion and an apple in a little bacon grease or if you need to olive oil. Shred your red cabbage and saute with the apple and onion. cover with broth (granulates and water) and let simmer for about 20 min. or until the tenderness you like add small amount of vinegar to taste Enjoy with venison or beef roast…
  • I do something nice for someone else, play my favorite music and dance around the kitchen, spend time with my friends and I count my blessings... and sometimes I do it all at once ...(glad I live in the country and no one can see me) :)
  • I'm not sure if that will work but why wouldn't you be able to ware leggings? they come in all different kind of sizes, are form fitting and comfortable. For the tutu's find a friend that knows how to sow and ask her to make you some. I hope that helps
  • If you use sedentary for your activity level MFP does not calculate exercise in , until you do it manually on that day..
  • I looked at your diary and it really seems like an awful lot of calories for the day. I would maybe go a different route and eat my BMR calories for the day and see if I was still hungry after that... I think we have a BMR calculator under tools. I don't have a bodybug but I only eat half of my exercise calories back since…
  • I am 53 and in the middle... or near the end of Menopause. I have found that soy helps me with the hot flashes and I take a supplement that helps with the mood swings and sleeping (5 HTP you can get it at Walmart for around $10.00) but I suggest you talk to your doctor if you are on other meds, just in case. My problem is…
  • I believe your metabolism is slowing down because you are eating less and working out more.. If you want to set yourself up to live on 1200 calories for the rest of your life and you can live on that go ahead... Look at all the people that have lost over 100 pounds and kept it off? Eat good foods, as clean( unprocessed) as…
  • I don't count sugars, I count carbs and most days I'll be over in protein but very seldom in carbs. I also seldom eat refined carbs ( like white bread or pasta) and I am still losing 2 pounds a week...
  • I don't worry about them, it's natural and I have already cut out most of the other refined carbs. I'm low on carbs anyway, I go over protein most of the time...
  • Drink more water... I know that sounds funny but it really helps watch your sodium when you can, work your calf muscles ( rock back and forth on your toes like you want to look over something ) put your legs up in a recliner run cold and then warm water over your legs, that stimulates your circulation there are some teas…
  • southern Ohio, Waverly, Jackson area... or as my mom said the sticks....
in Ohio??? Comment by gabi_ele August 2012
  • You are almost every day over on carbs and a lot under on your protein, you are also not eating enough as all the posters before me said and yes you will mess up your metabolism with eating to little and set yourself up for failure. Read the post from the someone above me... it works there enough success stories on here to…
  • I have been there done that a couple of times. If i would have kept off the weight I have lost over the years there would be nothing left of me. The problem is can you live like this (eating 250 to 750 cal net) for the rest of your life? What happens if you can't keep up with your exercises for some reason( injury, time…
  • It is really hard to say because we don't know what you are eating... if it is just fruit and salads you might not be able to sustain your new lifestyle and might lose quickly but gain it back just as fast and then some (been there done that) I just read an article that said that eating a breakfast high in protein and fat…
  • For me protein does the trick. My favorite snack at night is bing cherries and Greek yogurt. you can sweeten with a little bit of honey... delicious. Or if you are in the mood for something salty greek yogurt dip with veggies should help. To save all the calories until right before going to bed might not be the healthiest…
  • For a more savory idea, cucumber and garlic different herbs like basil and oregano, dill, chives, parsley I also use it instead of sour cream, in cheesecakes... the sky is the limit :drinker:
  • Welcome:flowerforyou: I have been here a couple of times, but I guess practice makes perfect:smile: If you could use a friend I'm almost the same age, and have to get rid of over 100 pounds ( don't know where I could hide them:noway: ) You could always buy a Suv... easier to get into and out of > Just kidding I know…
  • I find that when I eat protein, i stay fuller longer. I still drink Chrystal light and snack. I would stay away from sugary snacks, white bread, white rice and white pasta and go with whole grain veggies, fruits and lean meats. I also go with light versions of milk products, I really don't like the fat free stuff.... You…
  • I have been married for almost 32 years and I agree with some of the advise you got. I can't change my husband, I love him. Does he do things that I don't like? sure, but I do things he doesn't like too. If you cook the meals sneak some healthy stuff in, but don't deprive him of his pizza . My husband has some great…
  • I think there are a lot of assumptions made. If you are overweight you are unhealthy? Not necessarily. I have met lots of people that were a " perfect" weight and were diabetics or had heart problems, or we went for a walk and they had to sit down after an hour... And what is a perfect weight? I think that Marilyn Monroe…
  • I'm not sure where you live, but if you have an Aldi around there try it out. They have frozen veggies, lots of produce reasonably priced and all kinds of fit and active (light) products. I buy a lot of my fish there too.Kroger has a lot of frozen food on sale if you watch for it... good luck hunting
  • Here is my opinion. :flowerforyou: I like to eat, I love food and I have no problem to eat all my calories. The reason I am here is because I have jojoed myself up to this weight by going on low fat diets, cutting out food groups or eating 700 calories all week and then on the weekend eating a lot. This should be a…
  • I can only speak for myself. I have jojoed myself up to this weight by eating to few calories and messing up my metabolism. Years and years of starving myself, then not being able to keep it up, gaining all of the weight back and then some . I agree with some of you I only count half of the calories I get back from…
  • Where did you get your basic need of calories from? There are a lot of interesting threads that talk about calories, eating healthy and eating your exercise calories. If you are informed and know the consequences you can choose...
