I seem to remember a thread about this before, it was really interesting seeing the huge range of 5'6"ers out there! :) I am 5'6", 132lb, 28" waist, 36" hips, not sure about thighs. I wear a UK size 10-12 usually, euro 38. I store extra fat on my stomach and arms rather than hips and thighs so can look a bit out of balance…

I'm so sorry to hear about you cat, I have a beloved cat too and can 100% imagine how painful it is to lose him. I think whenever something traumatic and painful like that happens you have to just focus on looking after yourself and allowing yourself to grieve. Eating healthily and exercising are part of that but don't put…

Thanks everyone, your posts are much appreciated! It sounds like everyone, no matter what body type feels like this at some point when clothes shopping. I guess in the past people made their own clothes or had tailors, it's a new phenomenon where retailers sell stuff that is meant to be for everyone. The reality is there…

Agreed, I am in the UK and not a fan of 'cups' either. It never feels like a good measuring system as there is too much margin for error. We have an old set of measuring cups so when I can't find an item in grams, I estimate how much of the cup an item would fill but mostly I tend to look for things measured in grams and…

I'm with you on the Malibu Barbie dresses, I love dresses like that too. Maybe more St Tropez Barbie since I live in a cold climate, not too bright but definitely fitter and feminine and flattering. Love clothes like that. :)

People always say I'm like Monica from Friends. I like things to be clean. Really clean!

Fantastic progress, congratulations! Also, I love your avatar it's so cute!

Finding this thread so interesting as a 5'6 er myself. One thing I am noticing is that some people seem to weigh more than me but look really slim. It's making me think I mustn't have much muscle tone which might be why I am relatively light but have excess fat in certain areas. Also it seems that people of different…

Ah thanks so much that's really cheered me up. I just feel really baffled why they choose me last. I've already been to university once and this never happened there, not sure what it is about this particular college. The other students are actually older than me, by about 30 years (they are retired!) and I wonder if maybe…

You look fantastic, great muscle definition! How long did it take to get to where you are now? I think I might be classed as skinny-fat, although possibly more fat than skinny at the moment :/ so this inspires me to get doing more weights. Thanks for sharing your success and good luck in the competition.

I don't think your passion for food is a negative thing at all. Maybe you could actually use it to help you make the changes you want. For example, you could use your interest and knowledge of recipes to source, test and make new recipes and share them on a healthy food blog. There are a lot of food bloggers who, for…

In Italy staying with an Italian family the dad saw a photo of me in which I thought I looked perfectly nice and slim. He laughed at it and said 'Sei piu ciccia qui!' = 'you are chubbier here!' Not traumatic but disconcerting, for someone who was always saw themselves as slim. Also, I hate it when people say 'oh you've…

Sounds like the worst yoga class, in the whole world, ever! And I've been to a lot of different yoga classes. The carpet sounds absolutely revolting. And the smell is an indication that it is just as dirty as you thought. Gross. Can you write a bad review of it online? Warn other people who might be tempted with the offer.…

Thanks for this, it's something I often think about but don't know any other gym go-ers so have just kept it to myself. I am too intimidated to go to the freeweights section. It is full of young men all hanging around flexing their muscles, chatting, laughing and lifting heavy weights (as you'd expect!). I just feel too…

Hilarious thread, I can relate. I'm a fully grown woman but still can't sleep with the dressing gown on the back of the door, it looks way too much like a ghost when the lights are out. I also have to check there aren't any murderers hiding under my bed or in my wardrobe every single night!

Sorry to hear about your heartache. What has helped me in the past is: - Write down the reasons why the relationship ended. Re-read this whenever you're feeling weak and want to ring them, this has always helped to stop me! - Writing down all the things you can do now that you're single that you couldn't do in a couple.…

No way, I think go for the weight that feels right for you as long as it's healthy. I'm 5'6 and 127lbs and would like to lose some weight as I feel best at about 120 lbs.

I think people get used to friends and family members being a certain way. Changes unsettles them, even if it means that person is getting fitter and healthier. Iif it is a friend of the same sex and you become slimmer and more attractive, jealousy might also be an issue. I find that my mum often says I look too thin when…

I always plan to buy lots of nuts and seeds so I can have these as snacks instead of biscuits and chocolate, but am often put off by the price.

I've successfully substituted semi-skimmed cows milk with almond milk, oat milk and kara coconut milk in baking before and each time the results were great, and dairy free. :)
