  • Wow that is a great result after some dedicated work. You look so strong and happy :-) Thanks for sharing
  • Hi Rodsteff, I too suffer from awful arms - I think partly it is genetic - I have seen women fatter than me with lovely skinny arms! My mum and my daughters all have big arms. The pundits say you can't spot-lose weight; so general weight loss would help (I need to do that again)! Also specific arm exercises that target…
  • Hi I have (like many others) lost my weight but now it is creeping back on. I have been on MFP since mid-2011 but only got serious after Christmas 2011 (my day count is off as I had a break of a few weeks). I lost 25 kilos quite quickly (moving house is a great activity) and got to my goal weight in late 2012, but it has…
  • I used to have coffee with milk and two sugars, when I started at MPF I tried various combinations (milk/no milk, sugar, less sugar, sweetener etc) but didn't like any of them. Then I thought I'd try black - nothing else. Love it, and now drink black coffee. About 4 calories.
  • G'day mate, another Aussie here (there are lots on MFP). MFP can be a great tool (I mean that in the nicest way!!) to help you get fitter and healthier, good luck :-)
  • Sounds like you have made a great start, weight can fluctuate quite a bit (for me sodium is a killer - one salty meal and I am up again :/ Whilst I am not vegetarian at the moment I have had times when I have been vegetarian and three of four of my adult kids are vegetarian. I think vegetarian meals are amazing, so much…
  • Seriously -Soylent 2.0?? I saw this film many years ago, that would put me off! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070723/ PS I also don't like shakes generally, although I know a lot of people use them. I would suggest you read the fine print on the nutritional panel, one my workmate was using turned out to have a LOT of sugar.
  • Congratulations on the loss and the new passport, very meaningful - a new you all round :-)
  • I have a Misfit Shine, but just last week I "inherited" my daughters Fitbit Flex as she has upgraded to an Apple Watch. I like the Fitbit better than the Shine - which I lost for several months (twice) once I found it in the fridge fruit crisper, once in the tumble dryer, :D still worked perfectly so the Misfit Shine is…
  • Celery sticks and a teaspoon of peanut butter (Kraft whipped is good, easier to use less) - dip the sticks into the peanut butter, just a little goes a long way, and lots of crunch from the celery. Also dates & almonds - about 4 dates (or two medjool dates) and 15 almonds - again lots of crunch, and sweetness from the…
  • I work for Community Health but we are right next to the local hospital and are allowed to use their staff cafeteria. Always have a range of foods, GF, vegetarian, a salad bar, all for $5 Australian - great value. I just have to avoid the hot chips (fries). Usually go once a week at least.
  • Where is the LIKE button?? Thank you for your original post, interesting, based on fact - wow! Science <3

  • Hi, well done on making a start, and losing 40 lbs - well done. Can I suggest you go into the forums, check out Ed Davenport - he also made his own website to tell his story http://www.gettingfit4life.com/ like you he was very very overweight - but he turned his life around. Like you I worry about salt - so no added salt,…
  • When I was at school (olden days also  ) we got to stand at the front whilst the whole class sang Happy Birthday. Didn't bring cakes for the whole class. I don't have any little ones but my friend's children take cupcakes to school (Australia) I can see that there could be allergy issues etc. and that could be why…
  • Why do you have an apostrophe in your title?
  • There is an ignore list?? How do I add OP to it is a burning question for me .... or maybe :indifferent:  Back to important things like trying to eat healthy and manage my weight
  • No idea, but a great NSV! :flowerforyou: Love spas .... (wistful face) I don't have one :ohwell:
  • Don't know if this would count, but whilst seated, just try lifting one leg and thigh up off the seat, and hold as long as you can. Switch legs, repeat as often as you think of it. I do this on the bus or train too if I can do it surreptitiously without getting odd looks
  • Well done - I remember reaching ONEderland - it's a great feeling, motivational to get to your next goal :flowerforyou:
  • Congratulations on your determination and sticking with it, all the best in maintenance - like you say - this is for life! You look great, love the big smile  :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • Hi to make your own post, go to the forum http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums select on of the topics you think will fit your query, click on that topic (right hand side of the column) and then when that opens up there is a green "New topic" button :-)
  • No. 800 calories is not enough for any adult. If you are 18, and male, you need much more - you are still growing, your brain is still growing. Feed your body and brain nutritious food, get some exercise. Put in your proper measurements and MFP will calculate for you.
  • congratulations, you look strong, fit and happy, well done :-) Looking good! :flowerforyou:
  • I have a Misfit Shine - think a fitbit might be more useful - but I wear my Misfit 24/7, tracks my sleep, my steps, can punch in my weight and track that - but doesn't sync with MFP.
  • Hi I salute your service. Check out this guy - Ed - he is on MFP and also has a blog. He is an ex-vet. Inspiration++ Accepting you need to do something is the first step. Just take it a day at a time - this is for life http://www.gettingfit4life.com/ :flowerforyou:
  • I was about 40 - just stopped breastfeeding my fourth child, changed from nursing (job on my feet) to a desk job, gave up playing squash - so all of that combined to start a gradual increase of weight that just didn't stop. Then when I was in my 50's had some distressing family issues (husband's accident) and it piled on…
  • Hi Working mum who has just moved house - super stress time! Good to hear you know what you are eating is not good for you, and that you have cut back. Having a healthy diet doesn't mean existing on celery sticks and natural yoghurt. On the other hand, a healthy diet is definitely not what you diary shows. Tackle one thing…
  • Just start moving more - and gradually increase as you get fitter.
