  • My January goal is 100 miles. My first marathon this year is June 4th so I need to keep up the pace. My 2nd marathon is in November, the date hasn't been posted yet to register.
  • Complete my month at 114 miles. Completed 2014 at 1438 miles. I'm ready for 2016.
  • http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51137/Marathon-Novice-1-Training-Program Max out at 20. When you run the last 6 you'll be fine. You can always change it up how you want if you have that desire to go 24, 26 or 50 miles for a long run. Or just stick to what the experts recomend.
  • Well I like Brooks Ghost. I also have Hoka Huaka's I run in. I just purchased a pair of Saucony Triumphs at Running Warehouse for $68.00, Almost half price. But as Itsy3 said, go with what works best for you.
  • After the run I hang my clothes to dry. Once in a while I may use a little vinegar, but thats maybe 2 or 3 times in a year. I wash mine in cold water with Purex detergent, no softer, and then I hang them to dry. I never had a stink problem on my running clothes.
  • Hello, My name is Dan. I've been on MFP for over 1400 days. Started running about 5 years ago. for 2015 I passed the 1400 mile mark for the year,so I do little running. In January I will start training for my 5th Marathon, which is in June 2016, and my 6th will be in November of 2016. I just found this group and here I am.
  • Keep a good form. Time is irrelevant. The more you run your pace will increase. Unless your after a major goal you'll be fine. I think this is just a new fad. I have tried this and I see some potential with it,but if you loose your proper form you can injure yourself. Run how you feel, wear good running shoes and keep a…

  • Good luck. You have a lot of time to train so start slow and go easy. Make sure you wear the correct shoes. You'll do great.
  • Welcome aboard...Add me if you like. I've been here a few days myself.
  • I started in 2010 walking. I was 50 lbs over weight. I was 214 lbs, should be around 160. My wife got me walking, and I did that with some cardio workouts like P90x. I changed my diet and I am eating healthy. Then one day while walking I decided to run from 1one light pole to the next. That is where it began. Then I would…
  • I prefer RunKeeper. I have been using it now for 4 years. I tried some others but IMHO RK works best. I use it on my iphone.
  • I use CW-X. They work good. I have the winter thermal tights and the regular for when its not as cold.
  • I did my last 20 miler on Monday, for Chicago. I have 1 half on the 28th then the marathon on the 12th. I plan only on maybe 9 miles total the week before the marathon. You'll be fine. What coral are you in...I am in corral J. I put a 5 hour finish time but with my training I think I'll be closer to 4.5 hrs.
  • Here are my last 4 races of this year.. Sept 7th,,,, Ashly Can Half marathon.....completed. 1:50:02 Sept 28th , ...Tri Town Mini Marathon October 12th,,,,, Chicago marathon Nov 9th,,,,, Edward Hospital Naperville Marathon
  • I wear Glasses, so my running glasses are also sunglasses. On hotter days or rainy days I wear a running hat, ball cap. It helps keep the seat from dipping in my eyes or the rain off my glasses.
  • Ashley Can Half Marathon.....1:50:22
  • I agree with Don.
  • 65 minutes, 7 miles, 9:15 avg pace = 907 cal. I am 53 yrs, 5'8 and 165 lbs. Per garmin.
  • Garmin, as everyone else says here. Timex also makes a good watch but I have a Garmin FR610, my wife a Garmin F10. I know the 110 and 220 have HRM's available. The 610,910 and some of the others may be information overload to you if your not into all the numbers and just want the basics. Plus it all depends on how much you…
  • Go for it
  • Everything that rduhlir said. Higdon is good. Runners world is good. Your local running store most likely has a running group you can join. There are also running clubs around. See if one is in your area. Just remember, any plan you go with cam be modified to work with your schedule. I used Hal Higdon as my base. Good luck…
  • Congrats on getting in. I'm in also. It will be a great time.
  • A 30k would be cool. A 20 miles would be good also.
  • I just switched to Thor-lo Experia.

  • I agree.
  • I get up at 4:00 a.m.. Stretch and on the road. I'm usually home and out of the shower by 6:10 when my wife gets up so we are not in each others way. Plus I sit and have my coffee and relax before heading to work. For me, early morning runs are the best, especially in the summer when the temp is in the 90s. Now it's just…
  • Sounds like a good plan.
  • I started running at 50. I ran my first marathon at 52, this past November of 2013. Talk to other runners on MFP, we all can give you good advice. There is nothing to be worried about If you do it slow. Main point, get good running shoes. They will make you or break you. Find your local running store and get fitted for the…
