  • OK, I got sick and couldn't ride. I ate some evil pizza and it did a number on my innards so that I did not leave the house all day Sunday. I was miserable but I did lose weight! :grumble:
  • I will check out the link, this is interesting to me because I just ran last night for the fist time in probably 20 years and it felt better than the torture I thought it might be! It might even be (gasp) fun!
  • Ok folks, its time to work off that Valentine's celebrating - or the effects of not celebrating! Time to rock and roll.
  • Hi folks, I thought I would open this thread and encourage those who like the 2 wheel variety of exercise. I live in the Southern USA and so it is beginning to warm up here a good bit, if that makes you think of getting the dust off your bike to get out there then lets get crankin'. I have a road bike and a mountain bike…
  • Whoda thinked it! That is a great idea! I have ice, I have a blender, I could get some lemon juice. It could happen. THANK YOU!
  • Hi folks, It is great to be back among you after falling off the wagon and not even trying to catch it for the last few months. I have still maintained a little of my loss. I still ride my bicycle but I am starting to run too as well as sit ups and push ups on most days. My weakness is eating in the evening when I am home…
  • Wow, you guys are awesomer and awesomerer  I have been SO busy at my job I only have time to ride on Sundays and very occasionally during the week. Last night I had 2 flats and so I only road around 20 miles, I don't really know because I forgot to charge my garmin and it died in the middle of the ride. The good…
  • I ride a 2006 LeMond Versailles for my road bike and I have a Mountain Bike that I bought and road in Argentina called a Zenith, I have been working on converting it to a commuter bike.
  • I did 35 Friday, 30 Saturday and 16 on Sunday. 81 Miles for me. I sent in a proposal today for Toyota to sponsor my little bike team in the MS 150 here in the Carolinas. I gained some weight but I guess it was muscle. I was not able to eat all of my calories for 3 days!
  • My prayers are with you and your husband and your family. What a great support you are to your husband. May all of you feel God's great blessing!
  • This is the second post I have seen on MFP that started out with a guy honestly asking about other guys. What these tend to prove is that the ratio of female verbiage to male verbiage is about 6 to 1. Even on MFP men can barely get a word in. Perhaps there is another market or site for us guys?
  • I think you are a very brave, honest lady in the midst of change. Vent when you need to, you can do this. We believe in you!
  • I am a confirmed male . . . and I am not ashamed.
  • Did 20 miles this morning and I hadn't ridden since last Sunday but, boy howdy, did I have fun. I had to wait up for my 30 something friend but I still did a quick ride for me. It has been over 100 here every single day. So I got to bed early and got up at 5, got my stuff ready and I felt like a guy who is not fat.…
  • Whether you want cheap or pro you can find most bike stuff at performancebike.com or nashbar.com both are great sites. If you think you would have a tough time mounting it and calibrating it then search out a local bike shop, they are usually worth their fee for repair and set up.
  • I have been tracking my weight since January 1 this year and when I found MFP in May I had only lost about 7lbs. MFP has really helped me to change my life. I am getting into clothes I was in 10 years ago. It is wonderful! I wonder where I will be this coming January.

  • I have a Garmin 305. HR and Cadence as well as mapping. I have ridden with it for 2 years and no problems so far. I want the new color one now. What is great about this is that you can remove it from your bike and plug it into your pc and it will track your calories on each ride. It also tracks your average hr, cadence,…
  • One of the benefits of backing off the riding for a few days is "fresh legs" and I certainly had them. I did my 15 miles faster than ever. It was great! I started a new thread on the site "Bike Forums" concerning commuting with an over the shoulder garment bag that is offered by nasbar and performance bike. (thanks…
  • I am not riding but still losing weight. My new job is beginning to feel more "normal" and I am about to start riding to work on my bike. I just have to figure out how to get there and be clean and dry in this humid heat and then change into my "non biking clothes." I am looking forward to having a nice ride in the…
  • I drink it when I am out on a long ride and I can't carry enough water. If I have to buy something from a convenience store then that is what I buy. :drinker:

  • I love autumn or fall in the Carolinas, the cool days and crisp nights, the harvest moon. The calm seas on most days - and the gentle crashing ashore of a hurricane about every 5 years. But seriously folks, I am ready for a cooldown. Last year I was riding 15 miles on my bike and nearly had a heat stroke climbing a hill.…
  • Hi Janetbr, you are going to love cycling and I am so happy you are riding for a cause that you believe in. (am going to look it up and see if there is one here) I have been cycling for a few years now and ride a road bike. I also have a mountain bike. Some folks ride a "hybrid" bike which lets a person ride in a more…
  • I need to get out and ride but it is over 100 with an index of 108. I almost had a heat stroke last year in this weather and so I have learned my lesson. (saw stars and blacked out a moment) I have walked some and swum a little. Still losing weight. It is supposed to be down in the 80s this weekend here and I can hardly…
  • Go and get your dream!
  • What are friends for if you can't talk about poo? I have encountered similar situations as I changed my lifestyle. I exercised more and that moved the poo. I ate better and that moved the poo. I stopped eating junk and that meant there was less poo to move so it was easier to move. I drank a lot more water and that…
  • This is interesting to me. I drink a good bit of sweeet tay (sweet tea) here is South Caroliiina and it just ain't fittin' (isn't right) without sweetness of some kind. I have been using Splenda in gregarious amounts and so if its killin' me I would want to know.
  • Way to go!

  • You have me a little worried. Without being able to look at your stats and understand more of the picture its hard to tell but it does sound like a trip to the doc might be in order. It could be so many things but the fact that some foods make you ill set of a lil' alarm in my brain. Sometimes it is not…
  • Way to go Shelly! You will find this is a great site with loads of good people!
