Seitan, legumes (lentils are incredible), quinoa... I've been using orgain as it's a reasonably priced quality protein, along with peace protein from trader Joe's. I'm back on mfp in order to track my macros. Vegan for a decade, tough hitting the protein while minimizing the fat and the carbs. On the bright side, studies…

I',m a WW lifer, started 7 years ago - drifted on to MFP cause it was 'free' and "I got it now", and I'm back at WW about 3 weeks now. Here's the thing: First, once you maintain goal, WW costs nothing. nada. it's free. Second, most people don't have to track calories and intake. We have a mental issue that results in the…

at the same time, if you have a health interest read the china study, and i might also suggest Eternal Treblinka; Charles Patterson. "To the animals, we are all Nazis, and every day is a holocaust".

add me, and good luck. it's one of the best decisions you'll ever make.

Try not to be to dissapointed in this community. The challenge is not that you're asking advice about a vegan diet, you're asking advice about a vegan diet that will take you to a very low body fat percentage. Using the typical body-building mantra, that can be extremely challenging. My first question is "what prompted you…

I started by nothing noble. Serious carnivore with a vegetarian brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and niece. Used to joke that I needed a 'meat fix' before and after visiting them. I had a shift to vegetarianism when losing weight the last time, as the WW diet suggests low fat high fiber, which can only be obtained from…

truth is many cultures have had cuisines that are very close to vegetarian. it's only in the last 100 years ago or so that we started consuming animals in such overwhelming proportions. many of the dishes, believe it or not, are devoid of pasta. this is such a wonderful opportunity to step out of your 'box' and explore the…

really vague question. of the three, tofu is the most 'processed'. tempeh is a less processed version of soy, and seitan is easy enough to make yourself, rendering unprocessed. what are you looking to do with it? beans are a great source of protein, but lacks the texture. TVP is a soy derivative that can be used in a…

i'll bet you know more than you think. In most cultures, flesh was prohibitively expensive for day to day consumption, and other sentient beings were of more value alive than on the plate. chances are, if you've eaten chinese, mexican, italian, indian,... you've had vegetarian dishes. when people ask me how could anyone…

I'm a dad too. I'll add you.

why is it that you're concerned about carbs, and what is it you're trying to accomplish?
-
Nuts, nut butters, those are high cal. I'll do bananas with nut butter, granola and nuts as a snack. I'm trying to get the caloies down now! Good luck!

Trader Joe's in my area now sells a vegan mozzarella (looks like Daiya private labelled)!
-
for me - no. Daiya is the go to on the mozzarella, cheddar, or pepper jack. If I'm looking for something to put on pasta, it would be nutritional yeast.

check out the seitan 'sausage' @ everydaydish.tv

awesome.

you know that there's no such this as a 'magic bullet'. His advice seems sound, and his research seems to support it. Many people have switched from wheat to gluten free flours with great pleasure. Unless you're willing to accept your situation, and listen to advice, chances are you're not going to get any better.

the reduction in land is fairly well established, and a little bit of research will prove that out. the vast majority of land is not for human consumption, it's for animal consumption, and what's worse, is that because of subsidies, farmers are encouraged to grow single crops like corn (which becomes ethanol) and soy.…
