I am not sure I can do 100lbs in 10 months but anything is better than the nothing I am doing so far! Thank you for starting this group. I am in!

brenn, thanks for the tip on emotional eating books by Geneen Roth. I have looked some up and they look good.

Thanks everyone! Some really good ideas here. As I read this, I think yeah, I have gotten out of the habit of drinking my water, I probably drink 1/3 what I was when I was losing. I am guilty of the more calorie deficit the better so will watch that and protein and fiber seem to be a common theme so will try those as well.…

Mine said I had burned 1900 and some when I set it up last night. If you read on the site it calculates the calories you burn at rest (BMR=Basic Metabolic Rate=calories burnt daily doing nothing calculated by height, weight, age and sex) so the calories burnt include that.

I am definitely checking this out! Thanks!

I am so glad to see the smoke smell as I thought I was losing my mind. I have mentioned it to my doctor an internist who is very thorough and he basically said, interesting. I am a nurse and have researched it and it is not that odd actually. I have narrowed mine down to dryer sheets. There is something in the chemicals…

Hello, my name is Liz. I live in Ohio, am married to my best friend for 22 yrs, no children (in hind site, infertility probably due to weight), one spoiled cat, nurse for 30 yrs. I have tried about every diet available to mankind with little success. I was underweight as a child and doctor made mom feel like a bad parent…

I asked for one for my birthday, can't wait to get it.

I would love it. I think it would be great to do weekly weigh ins and maybe a tip of the week, like what helped you that week. Or post any success be it scale, inches lost or some exercise you did well or learned a new one, stuff like that.

The key to eating breakfast and not feeling ravenous the rest of the day is protein. If I eat cereal and milk I am hungry all day. If I eat oatmeal with nuts and a greek yogurt, no problem. Greek yogurt has been life changing for me, it gives great protein, is more satisfying than plain yogurt and helps keep your gut…

FANTABULOUS! I have lost 45-50 (depending on the scale) and I don't see as much difference as your picture shows. Good job!

Hello everyone! I am new to the group. I started this journey at 377 lbs. I have lost 43.5 lbs with lots of exercise and hard work. I am now starting to tweak my diet more, fats and carbs are too high. Hopefully that will result in the scale falling a little faster. My goal weight is 180. That is a little high for my 5' 6"…

Thanks everyone. I have been so big for so long, I do not even know what is good or not good. The inches go up and down just like the scale it seems, mostly due to muscle built but overall they are a loss so I am happy with that.

No Mandy, I haven't but I think I will look it up. Sounds good. Good luck on your first 5K and take it from me, it is not worth getting nervous over. Just enjoy the process and realize you will do more than you have done in the past and that in itself is a victory worth celebrating.

WoW! Thanks for the out pouring of support! I love MFP. I may still be "morbidly obese" but your support makes me believe I can do this!

I am still confused about the weight. I am now at 345.0 but am not sure how to record it. I will see what I am on Friday.

I cannot get my pedometer watch working but I am walking every day or doing some type of cardio, just not counting steps, so I am going to drop out however I am proud of all of you who are doing this. Great job!

I filled out 3 different forms today, I am so confused. Anyhow, I started at 349 and am now 346.9. Not much of a loss but I have lost 18 inches in the last 2 months. Hey, I will take any victory I can get!

Interesting! I never thought of unfriending some one just because they hadn't logged in.

Puggleperson, Thank you so very much for this post. I like your mom am 51 and working with a trainer and not eating much and not losing weight. I saw on another post an idea of zig zagging calories or calorie cycling and I am going to try this. I do believe you can eat too few calories and not lose weight. We will see if…

You look wonderful! Way to go! You should be VERY proud of yourself!!

You are a beautiful and inspiring young woman! I am so proud of you! I have been on every diet known to man as you have said. I am just starting down this lifestyle change path. I am exercising and decreasing calories and have lost 30 lbs from my high. However, it is not coming off like a feel it should. I do think my age…

It is a method of alternating calorie intake to "trick" the body and help improve metabolism and increase weight loss. I typed in zig-zagging calories on line and got lots of info all positive. There are also calculators available. Mine says; Daily Calorie Requirement Maintenance: 3080 Calories/day Weight Loss: 2464…

Welcome and good luck. I think MFP helps us be both more aware and accountable for what we eat and do. There is a lot of support and it embraces this being a lifestyle change not just a diet. You can do and we will help you through it!

I am so amazed at the response I have had. Thank each and every one of you, I am overwhelmed. To answer some questions here is a bit about me: (written Monday 7/8/11) Well today starts a new phase in my life! I am embarking on "A journey to health"! My employer is providing support to obese employees. For the first time,…
