I use a heart rate monitor when I do my kettlebell workout. I burn about 300 calories in an hour but your burn might be way different. I'm so glad I invested in the HRM...it makes things so much easier to track.

I use JogLog and I love it. It was $2.99.

commenting so I can find this later.

I have both and I love them both. I use my fitbit as an all day tool to measure how active I am and I use my HRM to help me train for running. It's hard to say what I'd choose if I could only have one...but I'd probably go with the fitbit. I had just the fitbit for about a year before getting my HRM.

I didn't know I needed one of these until I saw this. Now it's on the way. Red wrist band with a spare black band :)

This is great! I couldn't quite figure out how to do the whole "add exercise" thing. This is such a good explanation...I just copied it and emailed it to myself so I could have it in my phone :) Thanks!!

Do get the book...you will be so encouraged by it! And....you ran 20 miles!!! Think about that. It may not have been as fast as you would have liked but you completed 20 stinkin miles!!! Congratulations!

I just have to say this thread helped me SO MUCH! Thank you to everyone who shared your thoughts on which part of the run is the hardest. I've been running intervals for 3-5 miles every other day. I felt like I was stuck at 90 second intervals. I felt like I couldn't control my breathing and I didn't know how hard to push…

This is the best advice ever! When I started the C25K program I went to Roadrunner Sports (running store) and had a professional fitting and got the custom fitted insoles. I ran on a treadmill & answered a bunch of questions....the guy doing the fitting was so helpful and didn't make me feel like a newbie...he was really…

marking for later...this looks great!

I love Weight Watchers. I am doing it now and I do attend meetings. I track my food in both my WW tracker and in MFP. Honestly the MFP database is so much better than WW"s. I started tracking with MFP along with my points tracker because I was sort of stuck and needing to change things up a bit. My solution is to count…

marking my spot so I can find this again. Thanks for posting it.

Scott...thank you for your advice. I am trying to concentrate on breathing in for 3 steps and out for 3 steps like you mentioned. I think maybe 53 years of being a couch potato is just going to take some time to overcome, huh? Thanks again.

Thank you both for your input! I love the idea of continuing to do intervals at whatever ratio works. I am doing the Disneyland half marathon in September and i like the idea of just practicing an interval setting and working on distance. Thank you!

This looks amazing! I'm commenting so I can find it again hen I get home :)

Wow! I thought maybe the person in your profile pic was your daughter when I first saw your before pic! You look amazing! Nice job.

Oh my goodness! I did just the tutorial portion of the DVD....the part where you learn the moves. I did 10 reps of each movement with a 5 pound kettlebell and I was out of breath and glistening (girls don't sweat, we glisten) before I was done. This is going to be awesome!

I'm in Southern California so running outside can be pretty much year round. I will be happy when spring is here so that it will be daylight when I run. Yesterday it was raining so I ran on the treadmill at the gym. I haven't done that in a long time and I was struck by how hot and stuffy it felt in there! I'm training to…

Thanks for the welcome. I sent you a friends request :)

I'm 53 and new here. I'm doing Weight Watchers and I've lost 33 pounds so far. I've been sort of stuck and not so motivated for a while. I feel like seeing the calorie as well as the WW points is going to be the thing to get me going in the right direction again. I've also started running recently and have purchased a set…

I love my fitbit! I've had mine for a while now so I don't have the newest one, which I've heard is even better than the one I have. I find that it encourages me to move more and when I come home it automatically syncs to my computer. I actually started using MFP because it syncs with my FitBit profile and MFP has a better…
