I don't really spend the entire day and night trying to sleep. I'm actually quite busy of a person. I'm a graduate student in the field of mathematics, researcher, and a part time tutor. Most of the graduate and researcher work is independent study, although I have night time classes a couple of times a week. The tutoring…

Fa Fair enough, but gaining weight without gaining muscle mass is kind of pointless in my opinion. I'm just afraid you will be disappointed when you gain 10 lbs and don't have the curves you envisioned. Look into getting on a structured lifting program. As someone who has been extra small everything growing up, I finally…

Why exactly do you want to gain more weight (if it's not in muscle), when you're in a perfectly healthy weight range. I mean 140 is still in a healthy weight range, but I'm curious as to why you'd want to just add more body fat.

5'4'' 120--> 120lbs

That's mostly water weight.

When that happens and you don't want to create a whole new entry, you can always add macro grams manually. Just search in the food database carb gram and they'll be an entry for 1 carb 0 calories. On the flip side they also have a minus carb gram which is -1 carb 0 calories.

Are you allergic to dairy? You'd be surprised at how many lactose intolerant people don't realize that whey is a form of dairy. If not artificial sweeteners or thickeners (like xanthan gum or carrageenan) can cause stomach issues.

I normally do an hour of lifting, then a half hour of cardio. I guess you're right it is down to personal preference, but I find this method the most efficient. I can easily do an intense session of cardio after a heavy lifting session, because I'm still on an energy high. But the thought of doing a heavy lifting after an…

Strength training always before cardio. Cardio will only deplete your glycogen stores, reducing your energy levels for strength training.

As a chronic insomnia I feel your pain. A lot of people don't realize how debilitating insomnia can be when you've been awake for 36 hours or can't get more than 2 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Dieting definitely exacerbates my insomnia, but the root cause for me is anxiety. I know a lot of people are suggesting it's due…

I really hope you mistyped 38kg, b/c 83 lbs is severely underweight for a 29 year male. Truthfully I think you're going to need more external help then this community currently provides.
-
You're an 18 year male, so I'm guessing your TDEE is much higher. Most men bulk upwards of 3000 calories. Just to put it in perspective. I'm 5'4'' 120lbs and my TDEE (with a workout) is 2000.

Honestly @kanaada a lot of your posts here suggest you have an unhealthy relationship with food and body image. I'm not saying this to call you out, but it seems like every week you're posting about things like bingeing and crash dieting. People on here have given some good advice, but it seems like you need a little more…

Women don't accidentally get bulky by entering the weight room, just like people don't accidentally get a degree in neuroscience by going to college. Believe it or not it actually takes a lot of effort for women to build up substantial muscle, and you're probably not going to be building up anything on 1200 calories with…

On a separate note, make sure you're lifting with proper form. You should be sore from a good workout, but you definitely shouldn't be in pain.
-
Agreed have you seen how shredded the U.S. Women's olympic gymnasts are? I mean I know they're olympic gymnasts and probably incorporate strength training, but their eight pack abs seriously give bodybuilders a run for their money. Body weight exercise can recomp the body, it will just be slower than a traditional strength…

Lol, good b/c I don't think my body could handle a full moon on top of everything else.
-
@Sued0nim wait phases of the moon? I knew phases of the moon affect gravitational pull, but I thought only large bodies of water like oceans and rivers.

Carbs are a wonderful thing. Like Ardita said it's really not that hard to add 250 more calories to your diet. My bro advice would be to add a few more carbs preworkout and more protein postworkout. Or you could just have 3 oreos and a tablespoon of peanut butter before bed. To each their own.

Hmm, thanks for the input. I'm an extremely active person, but I physically feel fine so I'm not sure if it's necessarily overtraining. (But then again I do have the tendency to push my body to much). The only major change that has happened in the past month is I've started up grad school, so I'm thinking stress is the…

I definitely I think the texture is highly dependent on what type of protein you use. Maybe I'm being a bit elitist, but I think generic store brand ones come out chalky and gritty. I personally like Pescience just because it's a whey and casein blend, which I find bakes better than a standard whey blend. But before I used…

Is there a specific reason you're aiming to put on so much weight? I don't mean to be rude, but from your before pictures 20 lbs seems like a lot.
-
then on the flipside are you pregnant? While I am partially kidding, if you are accurately tracking this could be a possibility.
-
True but in the UK, drinking age is 18. So I think drinking and clubbing tends to be a bit more prevalent (at least publicly) because it can be done legally. Still college is supposed to be about getting a degree not getting wasted every weekend.
-
Even though I'm from the U.S., I spent my first year abroad in London, so trust me I've been to my fair share of freshers events. Honestly you need to choose what's important to you. If you want to drink and party, then go ahead, but you need to accept that you won't be making optimal progress if you're out every night.

I use pescience brand. I sometimes use cellucor as well, both are great for baking.

1 carb protein waffles are my go to. It's just 1 scoop of protein, 1 whole egg, cashew milk, and a dash of baking powder stirred to consistency and cooked in a waffle iron. It's definitely not actual waffle texture, but for 1 carb and 30g of protein it's pretty darn good. If you want the official recipe just google 1 carb…
