Hi, Glad to hear from you! Canada, eh? But Quebec. It is different and wonderful. Both languages surround you. Montreal. Smoked meats and bagels. The bagels are different and special. Ask about them. There is a special shop. Imported from Montreal into top notch Toronto restaurants. There are bagels and then there are…

Wow! 1200 calories and 20 carbs. I am a 5 foot woman, low/medium activity and I eat more than that. Must have been very difficult to sustain. And 20 carbs is what my diabetic husband aims for to lower his blood sugar. Again, difficult to maintain. But he must until he gets good readings. I do find LCHF the easiest diet but…

Definitely I would put some away in the freezer for later.

Lots and lots of us, like thousands, over at: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group with good resources and help. And depending upon your age, there is a sister site with a group of like minded friends:…

Hi Gayle, Glad you aren't disappointed. I thought I weigh less in the morning but maybe not given your experience. Hum, food for thought. I did an interesting thing this week and it worked! I stayed off the scale each day. Very hard to do. I thought about it every day. But I decided to try. I found that the scale was…

Yes, I have a new spiralizer and we do that when we really want noodles. We eat Thai rather than Italian. We also do the NuPasta stuff. Haven't looked for the frozen cauliflower rice or mashed potatoes. We do them from scratch when we want them. But I will keep watch. It might be cheaper and certainly easier. I know what…

Wow! The history of the elders in my family. Thanks for this post.

The UK coeliac website says that the average time it takes to be diagnosed is 13 years! So there must be a great many people avoiding gluten but without the proper diagnosis. They may have the problem but not yet confirmed. So I have some sympathy for the undiagnosed asking for gluten free. But yes, the ones who eat just a…

I appreciate the efforts by the restaurant industry (Celiac which led to lactose intolerance) but I don't trust them. I chose a gluten free menu item from an airline flying from eastern Canada to Australia. An epic 3 hours upset. Thankfully did not start until I was on the ground between flights. So, I only choose gluten…

I would start with food. Exercise builds muscle but really it is what you put in your mouth that makes the change in weight happen. I think all of us struggle with the same things. Cut the junk out first. Drink water not sodas. Snack on food rather than junk. Make small changes. They add up. But if I see the junk I want…

Hi Gayle and Mary, I am in on the challenge, Gayle. I too am still struggling. I have gain 10 back of the 30 I lost so I need a reset too. 07/17 172 lbs I am having problems with diet. I had to eliminate wheat, barley and rye so that is a change. I have been enjoying dairy more than I was but I found I cannot overdo it or…

Hi Mary, I am hanging in by a thread. No losses but no gains either. May I suggest you up your protein intake? I found that helped a great deal to prevent both the mindless eating and the sweet cravings. Not much just an additional 2 - 4 oz or so a day until you get it under control. Really hard to overeat protein and…

I loved Scottish Dancing. I did it since the age of 8. It has been 15 years since my last attempt. I have lost my bounce. I am sure it would come back but yes, the damage over the years has added up to problems as I am aging. Many older ones sort of walked in time and it works. Two of my favourite dances. Brings back…

I also found there are specialty shops for medical personnel. Thick soft rubber in well fitting shoes. I have foot and leg problems which are gradually affecting my life. All from scottish dancing for years on a wood floor over concrete. It takes a toll. Take care of yourself.

You may also want to look at dietdoctor.com. There are numbers of people who have been doing a ketogenic diet for years.

And back to keto or low carb, I found this article helpful too. http://www.tuitnutrition.com/2016/01/dont-be-a-ketard1.html (Your photos are beautiful, thanks for posting!)

Maybe I will buy online or in the store so as not to poison myself. But it is growing in every available space in my unweeded garden.

I would also remind everyone that it is against MFP rules to post about politics. I was simply in admiration that a man spent 60 years from his proof that transfats caused (not associated but caused) heart disease to suing the government and getting the change on the books. He never gave up. And I think we have a few…

Yes, it was a long time ago and lots have changed. I guess I was thinking about what went into the feed to help preserve frozen poultry and is this still in our freezer cases today? (Although I have to admit, I buy nothing but fresh poultry except for the odd turkey). I was just so impressed that he continued his work…

you mean I can use that @@@**** stuff that spreads over every flowerbed and every bl@@@@y part that drops when you are removing it, seems to root? I am so all over this! Thanks http://www.avogel.ca/en/plant-encyclopedia/equisetum-arvense.php Found this reference too. http://www.therighttea.com/horsetail-tea.html

Could I have the latin name for the mare's tail that you are using? There seems to be a number of plants that carry that common name. Thanks

Following your progress with interest.

Yes, it is hot here. So maybe not salt. I will add green tea tonight. Thanks

No we don't! Accuracy counts. So do distinctions. But I think we can all support Taubes' views.
