Congratulations on your loss so far. I don't have a response for your question but just a caution about Fitbit. When I first got mine, I added the extra calories burned and it slowed my weight loss. I've since heard the same from others.

I was losing 1.5 to 2 pounds per week and had to make an effort to stop losing once I reached my goal weight. I continued to exercise the same and tried eating more but continued to lose, even though I didn't want to lose more. I had to cut back on exercise and increase portions. Now I eat at my maintenance calorie level.

I found the same thing when I started logging on MFP. The main culprits were fruit and sweetened coffee. I immediately cut out the coffee because I could not drink it unsweetened and switched to hot green tea. I switched from high sugar fruit to eating only berries and melons.

The types of food you eat can make a difference because it can affect your metabolism. Foods that are low fat, artificially sweetened, or highly processed don’t have the right nutritional content per calorie and our bodies adjust. As to the walking, I lost 35 pounds at a rate of 1.5 to 2 pounds per week by eating whole…

Do you add your Fitbit calories? I steadily lost 1-2 pounds per week and was near my goal weight when I got my Fitbit. At first I thought I should add my Fitbit calories, but then realized that I wasn't taking more than I was before I got my Fitbit and adding calories would slow my weight loss. I've since heard of other…

Thanks for enlightening me. I don't drink any milk, but my husband does so we buy the whole milk. I'll check into getting some local raw milk for him instead. I think I might have a few options near by.

The less refined brown sugar actually has some nutritional value.

It's really hard to say from the limited information. In the past I thought meat was hard from me to digest so I avoided it or ate only a small quantity, but after I eliminated other foods due to allergies or sensitivities, I don't have any problem eating lots of meat.

It depends on what you mean by good and bad. The ingredient list looks healthy at the beginning but quickly becomes a list of chemicals. I consider that bad.

I don't eat or drink anything that is low fat since it's more processed. I didn't read article you linked, but I am aware of the studies that indicate that low fat milk is worse for your health. If you are just worried about calories, I guess you should go with the lowest fat, but if you are concerned about overall health,…

Probably $600+ per month for two active adults. We prefer quality over quantity.

I use a digital scale that has ounce and gram settings. I use the method above to determine calories in a recipe and then swtich to volume for serving. If I make a pot of chili, I add the individual ingredent calories and then divide the total calories by then total number of cups to find the calories per cup. Then my…

Grain, sugar, starch and dairy free. No processed food either. I mostly eat whole foods instead of making recipes, but I made one of my favorites today - roasted brussel sprouts, pumpkin and thin sliced jalepanos (tossed in lemon juice and olive oil prior to roasting) tossed with a vinaigrette, pomegranate, salt, and…

I have numerous food sensitivities that have taken lots of trial and error to identify, but my reaction is not severe as yours - sinuses, itching, red bloches, bloating, digestion issues, etc. Sometimes you can have a few main allergies which then makes you react to other things. Once you identify the main culprits, you…

Eggs - I hardboil a dozen at the beginning of the week and have one as a snack or with a meal when I need more protein. Seeds and Nuts - I put 100 calories of roasted pumpkin seeds or walnuts in individual snack bags to eat as a snack or add to a salad. Salmon - I keep small cans of wild caught salmon to add to salads.…

I started doing yoga over 10 years ago to help with stress. Be careful when starting out because you can injure yourself if you don't use proper form and push yourself too far. Find a good instructor, not just a yoga aerobics class. I prefer Iyengar yoga.

I prefer to eat foods as close to natural as possible. I like natural mayo - just oil, vinegar, eggs and water. Great flavor and I just use less to fit in with my calorie allotment. Lite mayo have might have less fat than real mayo, but it has more sugar and less flavor.

I find that processed foods are the worst for my stomach. Try eating foods as close to natural as possible. I like steaming whole soy beans for a good source of protein versus eating tofu. You might want to try reducing stress, which can also aggravate one's stomach. Yoga and meditation helps.

I am new to the forum and don't understand all the "bumps". Why would someone bump a topic that is already near the top? It's very annoying to attempt to read a topic where over half of the comments are bumps.

I started eating Greek yogurt about 6 months ago and love it. I didn't realize there were different levels of fat. I just checked mine and it 0%. I'll look for some 10% today.
