Severe Fresh Fruits & Veggies Allergy Help?

Options
I have a life threatening allergic reactions (going into anaphylactic shock, facial swelling, hives) when I eat any ANY fresh fruits or vegetables. I am sensitive to a protein present in all of them - that is the theory presented by my doctor anyway. I can eat most things if they have been pasteurized because that breaks down the food enough, but often cooking them at home doesn't quite do the trick and I still have a reaction. Because of this, I take steroids. Usual symptoms: always hungry and I can't loose weight for the life of me. I am looking for some suggestions for things I can keep at work and home to snack on besides pretzels and popcorn. Any quick meals I can make on weeknight that my fiancé won't hate that aren't pasta would be great too. I want to feel good about the way I look, but I am really struggling with how to manage my diet. I would also love to hear from anyone else with this allergy - I have never met anyone else that is sensitive to EVERYTHING like I am.

I have a friend who's kid is allergic like that. She cooks at home a lot & mostly makes soups & stews in a crockpot (long cooking times). As for fruit, they do applesauce & fruit cups, and fruits that are baked into things like muffins, pies, apple crisp, etc. Check with your doctor if any of these might work for you, best of luck!

My aunt went through years of testing and exploratory surgery to discover she was allergic to pretty much everything. She's 80 now, and still kicking. She discovered that spirulina helps her out tremendously with nutrition, if that's something you haven't looked into yet. I don't know how to get in touch with her right now, so I can't find out more info for you.

I have numerous food sensitivities that have taken lots of trial and error to identify, but my reaction is not severe as yours - sinuses, itching, red bloches, bloating, digestion issues, etc. Sometimes you can have a few main allergies which then makes you react to other things. Once you identify the main culprits, you can reintroduce others without issues. How long have you been working with a doctor? You might need to find a specialist to help. I hope you can find some relief.
