  • Just for today.... I will get in more steps toward my daily goal. I will drink 4 (22oz) glasses of water. I will prepare healthy food in advance.
  • You ROCK! Thank you!
  • bump! Thanks!
  • Welcome back! You have a great attitude and I'm sure you will find that you will make giant leaps here at the beginning. I just sent you a friend request...you remind me of a childhood friend of mine. Okay, first off... has a doctor recommended a certain way of eating for you? With diabetes it is really important to follow…
  • I'm guessing that a diet high in soy and carbs has wrecked your usual balance. If you can cut out the soy and cut back on carbs maybe that would help. Just a guess! Enjoy your trip....it sounds amazing!
  • I wouldn't think twice if I saw this happening. No that's not true, I'd be jealous that I didn't think of it first! Cut a small x in the bottom with a sharp knife. Put them in a metal dish...think pie plate or old-fashioned pop-corn pan and roast them in the fireplace directly on the fire. Shake them frequently until they…
  • Eggs can be stored at room temp only if they have never been refrigerated. So if I buy them from the cooler, they go in the fridge... from the stacks, goes on the counter. I normally have a fruit bowl with bananas, apples, nectarines, oranges, lemons, pomegranate. I normally put berries in the fridge... seem to stay firm a…
  • I think you're gonna have to talk this one out with her. Maybe she doesn't realize how much this bothers you. Tell her that you want to be able to leave things in the fridge and find them there when you are ready to use them. I hate to think you have to buy a dorm fridge to hide your food. Having/ being a roommate is…
  • Lots of walking and an hour of belly dancing. Keep up the great workouts, y'all!
  • Praying for your sister.... and for you! Belly dancing and walking for me on day 15. I'd like to kick it up a notch this week. I ALSO had a weekend full of ice cream and cake... and next weekend we will do it all over again! So I need a string of good days this week. Have a great day everyone!
  • I'm here! Didn't have a very productive week last week... so trying to stay focused this week!
  • Bump, thank you!
  • Only a walk and a swim on day 7. And I'm struggling with nighttime eating. :noway: I've been up late for a few nights and end up having snacks. So foolish. So this week I'm planning to go to bed at a reasonable time.

  • Saturday for me included an hour of belly dancing and a 30 minute swim. I want to do more... but it is still so hot. I'm planning to start back lifting at the gym once the kiddos go back to school next week.

  • Day 2 I swam for 30 minutes and belly danced for 30 minutes. But my nutrition wasn't what it needs to be. I'll be more focused from here out!

  • This was interesting to me. I also have low functioning thyroid. I had my metabolism tested by a nutritionist, and as it turns out... my metabolism is 300 calories lower than what he expected based on all calculations. So yes, it is possible that your BMR is lower than what you have calculated. These calculations can't…
  • Hi everyone! I weigh in on Saturdays, so here are my starting stats: 8/24 weight = 165 chest = 35.5 bust = 38 waist = 30 belly = 33.5 hips = 42 rt arm = 12 rt thigh = 25 rt calf = 17 I would also like to do %fat measurements, but I need to wait for my hubs to come back on Wednesday so he can use the calipers on my back.…
  • Try a running app like C25K which uses a run/walk interval program to prepare you for running a 5K! Do not just start running... it's discouraging...so the app puts in walk breaks that shorten as the weeks go by. Definitely walk those stairs of yours whenever you can... should be great for getting the heart rate going! You…
  • Of course start again! Every day is a new start... for each one of us. Yesterday's good decisions have to be made again today, and tomorrow, etc. Don't be ashamed. We all know what its like to start over again. Please talk to your doctor about getting your T3 level correct... this was the key for me feeling somewhat human…
  • Pack your gym bag and go straight from work... you're already outside and have to go SOMEWHERE, so why not the gym?!
  • Have your RMR tested... easy test done by many nutritionists. Recline in a chair and breathe into a mask for 10 minutes or so. I had mine checked and even HE was surprised at the fact that it was 300 calories lower than what he expected based on my LBM and % body fat. I have a terribly pitiful thyroid which is the…
  • Hey y'all! I'm Beth. I'm 42, married to a wonderful man, and we have 3 boys. I love to workout: swim, lift weights, dance, etc. I recently started taking belly dancing, and now I need to find a costume that fits and doesn't look too trashy! :noway: I'm studying to become a personal trainer. I teach water aerobics, and…
  • It has been suggested that a daily form of intermittent fasting such as 14:10 or 16:8 may be easier for women than fasts of longer duration. Apparently many women run into hormone problems during extended fasts. I started 16:8 a month or so ago, and do not notice any huge hormone problems. Well, I always have hormone…
  • Yes you will weigh more at night because the food and drink you have ingested throughout the day has not completely passed through your digestive track. Weigh in the mornings only for a fair comparison. I agree with the person who suggested basing your calories on TDEE- (your chosen deficit) so that you eat the same amount…
  • High Five!! :glasses:
  • Oh my, that's really fantastic! You should post a pic of you in your new jeans!
  • Can of tuna, spoonful of light mayo (or even greek yogurt), and a spoonful of Branston pickle. Tuna salad for sandwiches or put it on a salad of greens. You could also add a chopped boiled egg. Great... now I want tuna salad.
  • Maybe try some sugar-free maple syrup and chopped nuts. Mmmm...
  • Hey look what I found! I didn't read through the info, but obviously others are in the same boat with you! Scooby is known for his good advice, so check it out and tell us what you find. http://scoobysworkshop.com/2013/06/16/nutrition-and-workout-strategies-for-bodybuilders-during-ramadan/ I have friends who stay up at…
