So I just tried cottage cheese for the first time with apple slices which was okay at first but eventually it was hard to eat. Any suggestions to make cottage cheese taste better?!

I have the same response from cottage cheese. Something about it gets my gag reflex after a few bites and I don't usually have any problem eating things that taste iffy.0

Maybe try some sugar-free maple syrup and chopped nuts. Mmmm...0

Mixed berries, sliced peaches, pineapple tidbits, and those little mixed fruit cups are all good over cottage cheese. I like the Lactaid brand .0

I hate cottage cheese. The only way I can eat it is:
Mix 1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp almond extract. Stir in 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (I use Greek); top with 1 cup berries of your choice (I use strawberries). This is just over 200 calories and full of protein... DELISH!0 -
You really have to find the right brand. For example, I can't stand Daisy or Dean, but I love Prairie Farm. At least that would be my advice.0

Sounds yummy (except my patriotic duty as a Canadian would be to use real maple syrup  )
Cottage cheese is definitely an acquired taste. I also like to just put some on a green salad with a little black pepper.0 -
You can buy cottage cheese with pineapple in it in England, which is nice. There's also an onion and chives version. I never eat much of it though, just as part of a salad.0

Or
Some jelly.. starwberry is my fav.0 -
I have it with raisins, banana and/or nuts. But then again, I love cottage cheese.0

The only time I eat cottage cheese, is if I have jacket potatoes (large potato cooked in its skin in the oven for anybody not familiar with that term).
It is quite tasty on those.0 -

I forgot about that, yes that is very tasty - too tasty for me though, I end up eating it all LOL0 -
I like it with applesauce. I love cottage cheese though, so the taste doesn't bother me too much.0

sweet, add cinnamon, stevia (or honey), raisins, and puree pumpkin0 -
I love cottage cheese, tasty and more protein than yogurt. I blend it into my protein shake in the morning; cottage cheese, vanilla protein powder and strawberries. Yummy!0

Thanks everyone! Now I got plenty of ideas for my next shopping trip!0

small curd cottage cheese is easier than large curd. its the texture.
Also i make a kind of sundae out of it. i put a scoop of it in a bowl, then i top it with fruit cocktail, with alittle of the juice from the can, and then i put a tiny dollop of it on top for whip cream haha, and then it really tastes good. This is one time when canned fruit in natural juice is good... i like the tropical one which really is good. Try it!0 -
I prefer savory vs sweet recipes for cottage cheese. For example, sometimes i'll take plain cooked oatmeal and add a couple spoons of cottage cheese and lots of tapatio...OR, cottage cheese with diced tomatoes, cucumbers and avocados.Cottage cheese is great mixed in with turkey patties.0

Mix in some apple sauce.
Seriously, takes it to a new level.0 -
I like it with any kind of fruit ... also like it with almonds, pumpkin seeds, pecans, and/or waltnuts (all raw or lightly toasted not roasted or salted) ... I prefer Friendship 4% small curd California Style, it's not to chunky (more on the creamy side kind of like ricotta), has a nice "mouth feel", and a nice clean, slightl (ever so slight) buttery flavor .. I also love (and this is a love it or bate type thing) Nancy's Organic Lowfar Cultured Cottage Cheese, it's tangy/slightly sour like yogurt (hence the term cultured) ... btw, both of these brands are on the less salty side ... just plessently salty not overwhelmingly so ... some brands, especially the low and nonfat varieties are pretty high in the sodium department and personally dislike them ...0

A lot of people mix in fruits and sweet things. I actually add pepper to mine. Maybe if the sweetness isnt working for you then you can give this a try.0

I like it with cherry tomatoes and green olives. If you don't like the texture, try blending it up.0

Add dill and pepper. I love cottage cheese! I even try it with some salad dressing - not much but enough to just taste. I love it as a side with spaghetti dinner or any tomato based dish.0
