Hello everybody! So it looks like I have to back out of this challenge. I just went to the doctor and she told me I tore my soleus (a small muscle in my calf) and every time I'm exercising it gets worse. I am not allowed to exercise for a whole week! This includes walking :( Ahh well. Good luck everybody! YOU CAN DO IT

Has anybody thought about zig-zagging calories? Because I'm thinking about it but I'm not sure yet and that would kind of cancel me out of this challenge.
-
I actually increased my calories because I was on 1200/day goal to lose 1.5lb/week so now I'm on 1lb/week. The 1200 was stressing me out and I was eating and eating and eating and feeling guilty. Now I feel more at ease about calories and in control. I don't know if you could do this? But honestly, I've had the worst few…

I used to have this happen a lot! It was always when I would start a season (when I used to row) or began working out again after a while and did a really hard workout for a while. It tastes kind of copper-y, doesn't it? Or at least it did for me. It hasn't happened in... four weeks for me, and four weeks ago was when I…

^^That is good advice^^ I should do that, too. I gained 1.5 pounds since yesterday but: I went to the gym and ate some not-so-clean food last night (still in my calorie goal). You could have gained a little bit of muscle over the last five days? Or not lost because you're gaining muscle over time? I'm no expert, mind you,…

^^I agree^^ I don't think I could finish a 5k at this point and honestly, if you got it, flaunt it! I posted a NSV about touching my toes... It feels awesome to impress yourself and you sound proud, as you should be!!
-
Definitely a backhanded compliment but also a NSV? This person sounds like a silly person (unless they're not, I'm just going by her comment) but you probably look really great and she isn't positive enough to say it! Anyways, focus on the good part? I'd probably be pissed but sort of happy, too. Mostly pissed.

Okay I weighed in today at 139 so I suppose my goal is 134, BUT I think I'm going to measure myself because muscle weighs more than fat.
-
I'm forcing myself to go to the gym. Hmph.

Breyer's ice cream bars are so delicious (and 130 calories) !! I too love ice cream. And chocolate cake. I've been getting those SmartOnes Weight Watchers frozen desserts, double fudge cakes (150 calories, I think). They're so good with a spray of whipped cream. Do you like strawberries? Or pudding? Jello pudding doesn't…

Oh man, I wish! My skin is so horrible from all the sweating and exercising! Bacne :( Not cool :( I hadn't been to the gym for two days in a row and my skin got slightly better but I am seeing my derm tomorrow. That's really great for you! A nice surprise bonus

I'm 5'7"+ and I've been all over the spectrum of sizes. At my biggest I was a 16 (December 2008). Now I'm a 4 or 6. I've been a 2 (27 or 28 jeans). I think my legs are bigger than my waist so it really depends on your body. Pants just don't fit the way they fit a fit model, you know? And I'm a 32C bra. I haven't done all…

I'M IN!! Although I'm not sure it's possible for me to lose five pounds by July 31 because I don't weigh that much now so I won't lose as much as quickly. But this is great motivation!! Name: Megan Age: 19 Height: 5'7" HW: 200 (December 2008) SW: 140 CW: 136.5 --> tomorrow is my weigh-in and I will update it! I think it's…

Thanks for posting this! I've been kind of down b/c I gained the two pounds I'd lost last week back again this week b/c I was eating crappy foods and saying "I'm young and having a rough day and I deserve it." I don't have much to lose and any loss is a loss. I feel better already losing just a few pounds and working out…

Bump for later
-
I used to row and we would have three hour practices mixing all different exercises (running, circuits, ergs, steady state, intervals, pyramids, sprints... different things on and off the water). I did one summer season during which you have two a day practices so you're exercising for about four or five hours a day.…

bump -- i need ideas too :)

Green Giant frozen veggies -- I like the broccoli and carrots with garlic and herbs. So easy to make and so delicious :)
-
That must be so hard. You would hope people would be supportive and maybe even impressed by your lifestyle change -- I am because that is a huge accomplishment! You've reached your goal and that is definitely something to be proud of! Just looking at your profile picture, I don't think you look sick. People probably aren't…

Thanks everybody!! This is great motivation

Girl Talk music has been such a savior during my workouts on the elliptical! The new(ish) album is full of long songs, at least 5 minutes but most above 6. If I'm almost done with my hard interval, I'll want to keep going hard because of the song and if I'm almost done with my whole workout, I'll extend it so I can finish…

Thanks everybody! These are really helpful!! I just need to make time to prepare them now.
-
(bump) I want to look at this later -- I'm going to the gym now actually. You and I have pretty similar goals!
-
I don't have time to respond to this now but I'm curious to read more of this thread later when I get out of work. Great topic! I really need advice on this

Chocolate milk? I'm having this same issue, finding good yummy protein for my post-workout boost. You could try Special K protein shakes. I bought those and tried one today--not great but I could make myself like them since there's four in a pack. I bought Hood Simply Smart Fat Free Chocolate Milk.

My dad has Celiac Disease so he has to eat GF all the time (and most of my dinners are GF when I eat at home). He doesn't go for the GF substitutes, like pancake mix or brownie mix or muffins. His lunches are always leftovers from dinner and dinner is always fresh food, cooked simply (a lot of rice -- I'm sick of it haha).…

Thank you so much! I really should get some books out of the library and do some research. Very helpful :)

Can you bring a cooler? That's a temporary cold food fix. If you get cold items/things that need to be kept fresh at a grocery store or convenience store or leftovers, you could put them in there. And all hotels have ice machines. Is there a Wegman's where you're going? I don't have one where I live but it is my dream…
-
Good for you! This is also really helpful to hear as somebody just starting out so thank you :)
-
Bump! I want to see the answers people have because I'm sure I'll have this issue soon since I don't have much go lose. I suggest searching through the message board archives. Thats where I'm learning a lot. And don't be afraid to experiment because it can't really hurt you since you've plateaued. Good luck!!
