  • I'm a new runner and just ran one last week. I came in at a 36 minute time. Disappointing, but that's how it goes. I've only been running for a couple of months.
  • Just a quick peek at your diary shows that you are undereating which could be sabbotaging your progress. Look into "BMR" (basal metabolic rate) and the "eat more to weigh less" group. Even if you don't follow the philosophy of the eat more to weigh less group, you should never eat below your BMR. My BMR is 1395 calories a…
  • I would eat lean protein if possible. If this is not possible, then I eat a mix of fat and protein. A cheddar cheese stick, a spoonful of peanut butter, no fat greek yogurt with berries, a protein shake, etc.
  • I agree, I rely on my Garmin Heart Rate monitor to tell me how many calories I burn through exercise. I also have a fitbit and a body media but the HRM does the best job. Then the fitbit I use for my other activities and walking throughout the day.
  • I could have written this post and second it! My Fitbit is scary accurate to my adjusted TDEE for a 2lb weight loss a week. It will auto adjust based on your activity levels too which is cool.
  • I actually prefer the pictures where there is a lot of skin. Not because I like to look at half naked bodies, but because clothes hide a lot of fat. Even though I'm a size 8/10, my stomach is not very attractive to me, and I appreciate seeing other's stomachs for motivation. I haven't seen any pictures that were out of…
  • That's a good question. What was the downtime like? Thanks for the pictures!!
  • Amazing transformation! You are so brave too!
  • Wow! Amazing. I love the coverup tattoo.
  • It's important to work at your fitness level. I'm annoyed because I've been playing tennis for a couple of years and recently started running. It's so frustrating to have no pace at all, but my heart rate monitor doesn't lie and I have to force myself to slow down. Also, for anyone who cares, taking an anti-inflammatory…
  • Definitely not! You should stop, rest, and if it keeps up, see a doctor.
  • I eat the Kashi - Go Lean Crisp Cinnamon Crumble and it has less sugar than a cup of 2% milk (10 grams versus 12 grams). I don't eat cereal every day but I change it up. On the other days I eat english muffin, turkey bacon, and eggs/egg whites.
  • Yes! I absolutely love Fitbit! It syncs with MFP to update your exercise calories and is very easy to use. It's small and looks like a little USB stick.
  • For a present, I got both the Fitbit and BodyMedia device. I wore both of them for a couple of days nonstop. I found that in comparision to Fitbit, it was difficult to see the benefits of BodyMedia. There was considerable overlap in the type of information that was reported. Both look at sleep efficiency (although…
  • Everyone who doesn't have a problem with the website. Are you using the original BodyMedia website or the integrated Jillian Michaels 360 program? I'm using the latter and it has been a royal pain in the butt to navigate around. Even finding my dashboard is a pain and I'm a fairly savvy tech user.
  • I haven't tried BodyBugg, but I can say that BodyMedia is a pain the *** to use compared to fitbit (different devices I know). I ended up going with a HRM. The biggest issue I have with BodyMedia is that you have to get a subscription service to see the data. The website is horrific and difficult to use. The device is…
  • I agree about the workouts. I played tennis yesterday with both my fitbit and my Garmin HRM. My HRM logged more calories burned than my fitbit.
  • I also love, love, love my fitbit. It connects directly with the MFP website and auto updates exercise calories I lost. Otherwise, just walking the halls, walking to and from my car, I would have no idea how to log that on here. This takes care of it so I get an accurate way to figure out what I am burning. It is extremely…

  • Similar to you, I went from a size 6 to a size 10 in about 6 months. When I hit my size 8 pants, I was a little depressed. When my size 10 pants were tight, I knew I had to change something. Then when I took pictures and compared them to my progress that I made last year, my mind was made up. I was not going to wallow in…
  • I understand. What I would try is to take multiple measurements with a tape measure. Oftentimes you will show progress there first. That's why people tell you to throw away your scales sometimes. The tape measure will make you feel better and seeing progress pictures. I have a ritual. Once a week, I weigh myself and…
  • I agree, I do NOT buy the cheap stuff. A portion of it won't get absorbed, will make you bloat or give you cramps, or tastes just plain terrible. I love syntrax myself and mix it with water. For smoothies I put a little dash of cold water and then frozen fruit. Delish!
  • Honestly, what worked for me was getting a fitbit to track my number of steps. It integrates with the MFP site and auto updates my exercise calories. I find myself getting up to walk the halls in my university or park far away to get in extra steps. Seeing, and I mean visually seeing, my physical activity being charted and…
  • You can rock that bikini now! Fantastic progress!
  • Fantastic progress!! The ladies are going to be all over you (or the men, if that's what you prefer).
  • Love it! That is so true. I don't diet!
  • This happened to me today, but it was a first conversation and no touching. I was finishing up on the treadmill when I was approached. I also had headphones and music blasting, so that doesn't stop everyone. If I am not interested, I will keep my answers very short, don't ask follow up questions, smile, finish the…
  • Great work!! Love it!
  • Thank you everyone. These replies have literally made me tear up with feelings of relief, knowing that I can get myself back on track. I remember what it was like to look through my closet and say, whatever I pick, jeans, skirts, tight, loose, it will all look awesome. Now I'm thankful if I can find a pair of jeans that…
