  • I revisited the Trim, Tone & Flex DVD yesterday being fitter than I was at the start of MFP and I think it may be too gentle for you. Have you looked at any Rosemary Conley DVD's? They are fairly low impact in terms of bouncing around but may be a bit more challenging.
  • Have a look at Jane Fonda's DVD's aimed at seniors. Prime Time Fit & Strong has a gentle routine which suits me ok (half of which is seated and has options to hold onto things for balance) but it also has a more physical one - enough to get the blood pumping without bouncing around like a crazy person. I also have her…
  • When you're so limited by your illness and rely on your husband for things like cooking without being able to exercise - well you have to have your husband on board for this to work. My husband does all the cooking and food shopping - if he didn't stat making changes it would have been very hard for me to lose weight as…
  • Now available CHEF AND BREWER http://www.chefandbrewer.com/food/nutritional-information/
  • L-glutamine helps my carb and sweet cravings massively. I started taking it as a suppliment for my condition but it's great to curb cravings (and help with weight loss) and it also helps with muscle and tissue repair. I had to start with a very low dose and slowly increase - if you have too much too quickly it can upset…
  • I can see a big difference. Congratulations on a great weight loss!
  • Ooops my 2nd photo was the wrong size - here you go Thanks for all your kind comments. It's not a massive difference yet but it's enough to be going on with for sure :)
  • Wow congratulations and very well done! Thanks for keeping me inspired.
  • By the way might be worth checking if your library has any Pilates DVD's so you can try before you buy?

  • I like Lynne Robinson too and her pilates was recommended to me by a physio. I have her book Body Control manual which is helpful as it gives workouts/exercises for certain conditions and occupations. Also it says which exercises are dodgy if you have back or neck problems like me. I found the DVD's easier than trying to…

  • I'm not knowledgeable enough about the weight loss thing but wondered if you tried looking for targetted ab/core exercises you can do seated or lying? Something like this http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abmoves1_2.htm Or would you be able to try some pilates - there's quite a few core exercises you can do lying down…
  • This is a handy page of ice cream treats and calorie counts http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/calories/calorie_counter/ice_cream.htm If mini milk don't appeal there's more lollies under 100 cals to try :)
  • Going to get me some mini milks lollies too :) Yum. Alpro Smooth Chocolate Dessert 110 calories per pot. They do milk and dark choc. The plus is it's got 4g of protein. Also Provamel do soya desserts - chocolate, vanilla, mocha, cappucino, caramel which are from 92-125cals per pot. I also like pistachios - a small amount…
  • Upping my levels of soluble fibre, dropping insoluble fibre and avoiding trigger foods in a flare (some of which I can eat in better phases, some of which always trigger me) has helped with IBS a lot. This site was a revelation for me http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/trigger2.asp explained just what the triggers were so it's…
  • Hoping to hit my lowest recorded weight in 12 years by start of June. That's 5 weeks and 5lbs to lose (which keeps me on schedule) Then another 5lbs by first week of July.
  • Pilates is working quite well for me (fatigue, muscle weakness are part of my illness too). I'm also using DVD workouts designed for seniors which have seated elements to them. Jane Fonda's Prime Time Fit & Strong has a non-cardio toning workout which is part seated, part standing but you can use a chair to balance. It's…
  • I discovered that Evening Primrose Oil can help my PMS cravings as well as helps stabilise some of the mood swings. I take it anyway but when I start getting the munchies or get a mood swing I take more. Doesn't always work but it helps.
  • This may be of interest or not but I've found I can do these workouts on better days (and I am too ill to swim or go to the gym so you should cope ok with them?). They are about stretching and toning rather than cardio. This one has a 12 minute totally seated workout. It can get the heart pumping if you choose to really…
  • ME is what some people call CFS or CFIDS although some people say even these are different things. It's complicated huh? People used to say Fibromylagia and ME/CFS are the same thing but it's been shown in research that there are differences and they respond to diffferent treatments…
  • Made me laugh out loud too - I was worrying about the chocolate I've been eating this weekend within my calorie allowance. Thanks for that :)
  • That's true for Fibromyalgia generally but not really true for ME. The wrong kind of exercise can lead to worsening of health in ME and in many cases where people have pushed themselves makes people severely disabled even bedridden.
  • I have ME and understand the muscle weakness thing and not being able to do cardio exercise. I've found that pilates is good and doable for me. Most people would consider what I do to be a warm up but I am still working muscles and it's all lying down. You can do more on a better day if you're able. I've also found a…
  • That's interesting that rebounder works. Good to hear. And that strengthening exercises help with the inches :) Some days are easier than others but every day we manage to move is better than not.
  • Hi. I'm in a phase with my illness where I am now able to stand and walk for a bit longer than I used to but I used to be able to only stand for a minute or maybe two at a time. So I sort of understand what it's like. I've found a lot of inspiration through the message boards of people who have lost weight through diet…
  • I've been reading about rebounding for ME/CFS (mini trampoline) which might be suitable if you don't have problems with balance or orthostotic/POTS problems? The idea being that the bounce helps propel you so you're expanding less energy with less impact. I read that the PT Rebounder is the best to buy as it has a softer…

  • I'm from Staffordshire. Feel free to add me. Due to illness I'm limited in what exercise I can do and my diet is restricted too but I'm determined to do what I can and to lose weight slow and steady :)
  • Wow well done! What a terrific weight loss. I'm on the slow and steady path too so it's great to hear your story. Thank you
