Low impact refers to wear and tear on joints - cycling is low impact, running is high impact, both are absolutely knackering, and great for fitness. With activities like pilates/callanetics, that type of thing, you'll find that as it's not cv there won't be a lot of fat loss, but there will be masses of toning up - giving…

I think you'd have to chew really quickly for a long time. Also, it's not good to chew gum on an empty stomach, as you're stomach thinks there's food coming and starts secreting acid, which eventually can cause ulcers if there's no food there. xx

Depends entirely on the lawnmower. If it's one of those ride-on things with integrated donut bar, then it's way off. If it's one like my dad's which is powered purely by effort and involves ramming it forwards and backwards like a mad thing and cutting a 2metre square piece of lawn in about 10 minutes, then I think mfp is…

Absolutely. Bearing in mind that you can't slim one particular area, but will lose a layer off everywhere, you'll probably find that you need a combination of toning and slimming. Making sure you eat less than you burn, and cardio will help shift the weight, but for dramatic results you need to tone as well. The most…

Angela Small, short catlike person. Very easy to tease, but there's no reason to tease an Angela because they're very sweet. You can trust an Angela. Often, Angelas need a hug. Give your Angela a hug today. A person with amazing eyes who is pretty amazingly awesome. Why is she awesome? Just because, that's why.

Donate a kidney. They're really heavy.

And you'll be doing a triathlon before you know it!

Ha ha, well done! I like to spinning too. Great for fitness as well as burning calories. I do use the cross-trainer as well though - because I can read a book at the same time!

Wow! You're a babe!

Me too, I have a htc phone, and it's great - not so chunky as an iPhone, which is perfect for fitting into tiny pockets, it's got no end of apps, and it's the best phone I have ever had. Absolutely no disappointments at all. It's great.

My husband instructs spin, and his classes are excellent and very varied, however, when I'm in the gym, I tend to use the recumbent 'pedalo' bike instead, partly because it's a change of position, and partly because being an obsessive who likes to do two things at once, I find it easier to read a book at the same time. It…

OK. For me, 'Fat Bottomed Girls' by Queen. And for Mr EuroDriver, 'Road Trippin' by the Red Hot Chilis.

I think having mfp makes all the difference. You can keep an eye on your calories intake and outtake and adjust your diet/exercise accordingly. What did I do before I discovered mfp? I got a bit spongy round the edges and didn't seem to be a ble to do a lot about it. After all, it's not a diet is it? It's more a lifestyle,…

OK, just spoken to my lovely hubby, and he did it through Debbie Kneale Performance Cycling. One of the main reasons he picked them was because he didn't have to have a level 2 gym instructors' certificate to start with - most of them require you to do this. The other thing with DKPC is that the course is professionally…

Yes you're absolutely right, I'm a nurse and my day is frequently filled with people demanding quick fixes - when really they need to change their lifestyle themselves. And that's all it is - lifestyle, no funny diets, no weirdness, just everything in moderation, including exercise and pizza.

And this is tremendously good advice. The uni friends that I am still in touch with throughout my two degrees are the ones that were supportive and fun. The ones that were less of a good influence have fallen by the wayside (and they're not looking that great either!)

A Moscow mule is a good one providing it's made with low-cal ginger ale. Basically anything that's long and has one shot in it is better than a big stinking cocktail with 5 shots in. That said - alcohol is liquid cake! You might try my line, which is I only consume calories I can chew! Also, the good thing about mfp is…

I'm currently reading a book about getting to 'racing weight' for triathlons, from this and from one of my friends who is a GP specialising in sports medicine, the word is that you drink to thirst. You can over hydrate which can slow you down and make yo feel bloated - and obviously underhydrating is not good either. On an…

My husband did his spinning qualification a few months ago - he was really pleased with the course. I will phone him this pm and find out what it was called (he's in Canada at the mo). He did a lot of research into finding the best one for him, and he's had some really excellent feedback on the classes he instructs. xx

I have the same problem with tea. Black tea or green tea, makes no odds - but infusions don't have the same effect. How does it KNOW??!

Well done! 42lbs, that's a whole lot of poundage! xx

You can have a day off without it being a write-off. I work really hard to keep within my calorie goal during the week, but soemtimes life happens. I went to a friend's wedding yesterday, and decided that I wasn't going to necessarily count the calories, but just be a bit sensible. It works OK every once in a while -…

And me! I'm here!

No you're not missing anything, the reason why it doesn't give you the option to include calories burnt in exercise other than cardio is because often it's quite difficult to measure, because you have to take into account things like your strength and fitness, your body fat, reps, weight and resistance used, and I don't…

I've been veggie for at least 20 years. I'm fiercely allergic to Quorn; I eat cheese and free-range eggs, but definitely nothing with a face or a mamma! (And nothing that looks like meat either).

Wow, great post. Quit the diet, and just get a lifestyle instead, and the weight will not be a problem again! xxx

I'm in!

Hello! Breakfast is really important because it has been proven to reduce the need for snacks later in the day, and research shows that those who breakfast are more likely to lose weight and keep it off, and also reduce their risk factors for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. If you could find your way to squeeze in a…
