  • Yes! I'm eating more food and every 2-3 hrs. I'm eating at full TDEE to do a reset and have gained weight (as expected) in the process. My clothes are fitting too snug. So, people who know my lifelong dieting addiction are a little freaked out: I'm eating more and gaining....hello?! But, I ignore it all...waiting for…
  • This is EXACTLY what I was thinking! Not sure what this will lead to, but I'm doing it cause I have nothing to lose...figuratively, of course :)
  • Hi, I started EMTWL in mid March. I first upped my calls to 1900 for 8 weeks and decided to up it all the way to TDEE thereafter. I'm now starting my 4th week. I gained about 3 lbs with each increase (within the first week) and then stay more or less stable throughout. It was hard to eat so much at first, but getting the…
  • I've upped my cals twice in 10 weeks. I'm at TDEE now since I've been restricting myself for a long while. Plus, I want my body to understand this is maintenance so that my cut won't be too low. It's really a personal choice to go to TDEE. But, I would say to give it a full 4-6 weeks to see what happens. If you don't lose…
  • Fantastic & inspiring! Good job!
  • On the process of reading it. Thanks for the link to the group. I think I'll have questions or need support :-)
  • 5'6" here and when I was my lowest at 146, I was a size 6. Anything smaller than that and I'd be considered anorexic for my frame. I'd love to be 155-160 (size 9). I think that was the best of both worlds for me.
  • I did that too. I ate at TDEE-10% for about 8 weeks (gained 3 lbs in the first week) but instead of lowering my cals to -15% I decided to up them to full TDEE 2 weeks ago. I had read one of Kiki's posts saying that she did it the long way. That she would have gone to full TDEE if she had to do it over. So i didnt want to…
  • Love these posts!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I meet old WW buddies at work and they all look at me like "oh, she's not coming to WW and she's gained weight!" kind of look. :embarassed: When one of the asks how it's going, I always feel like I have to explain or justify myself. I just tell them I'm resetting my…
  • I've been dieting for all my adult life! I had the same question/concern. So, being afraid to take the leap I first went to TDEE-10% for 8 weeks. I gained 3 lbs in the first week and had some bloating issues (all normal and explained in this forum). I kept reading and decided I need a full reset. So, 2 weeks ago I went to…
  • BTW, just to be clear, adding exercise decreases your net...so eat more than your daily allowance only if your net drops below your BMR. However, if you've calculated your exercise level correctly, this shouldn't happen too often. Not unless you have an awesome workout one day! Or you're upping your exercise routine.…
  • Some people just log 1 calorie burned just to track that they DID exercise. I would log it but ignore the extra cals unless, like I said, my NET is below my BMR
  • I am no expert at this. I've been dieting for decades and in March decided to follow this way of life. I upped my cals from 1500 to 1900 and gained 3lbs within 1 week. I felt bloated, but started feeling much happier, more focused, etc. I stabilized and did that for about 6 weeks and then decided to reset my metabolism.…
  • Hey, I've only been doing this for 2 months, but my understanding is that your daily goal should be your TDEE-15% (at most). Since your exercise cals burned (and yes, I agree with your selection of light exercise) are already calculated in your TDEE, you don't eat them back unless your NET is below your BMR. On days you…
  • Thanks girl!! Nice of you to remember me :flowerforyou: So I shall continue at maintenance until I hit 8 weeks. Yes, I will keep up the walks and as soon as I finish reading NROLFW I will start that too! Just keep swimming!
  • Thanks guys! The eating at TDEE for the reset was suggested in a few of the posts here in theirs forum. Specificaally by two of the "gurus" themselves: anewLucia and Kiki (prvrb31). So I went for it rather than just gradually increase. I've been on a low cal diet for 7 years so have some repairing to do. The advantage of…
  • Thanks Kiki. I will up to 2100...but do I just go the additional 2 weeks or should I stay there for longer? Do I do another 6-8 weeks at 2100? Thanks :-)
  • Started upping my cals in mid-march. Upped it to TDEE-15% and went up to TDEE-10% a few weeks after (at 1900 now). I stopped the cardio to give my body time to realize that this is not a binge...I really needed to reset my metabolism. In doing so, I bloated, gained, had to force myself to eat, time myself to eat every 2-3…
  • You're too cute in those videos! Thanks for summing it all up for us in small clip formats :-)
  • Created it about 16 years ago. It's the first two letters of my name + the two middle letters of my husband's name + the last two letters of my daughther's name. Never changed it after my son's birth :-/
  • Congrats on your weight loss! Yes, I feel like I'm getting funny looks from family when I eat all the food I have to eat. It's difficult to explain especially since I'm gaining some weight (still trying to reset metabolism). Just today my MIL served me a plate of pasta and put 1 cup in my plate while asking if this portion…
  • Cool, I did the same! (sorry, hadn't sen your post) Guess I wasn't so strange after all!
  • I'd make paste out of chocolate chip cookies with a bit of milk. In hind site, I guess I was making cookie dough! Yum! On a less appetizing note, as a child I used to eat white bread only with mayonnaise (as a sandwich). LOL
  • Great to read these posts! Makes me feel I'm not alone...until i have results to back me up, kind of difficult to explain this "eating more" concept to people. I'm on week 3 at 1800/day. Would like to go to maintenance (~2000) but right now I feel like a gupy who's over feeding and am afraid to blow up like one! Although I…
  • Inspiring! I've upped to 1800 about 2 weeks now...just waiting for my body to get over the fear of starvation. Awesome to see it's working out for you fine people!
  • BMR is the amount of cals your body burns to just lie in bed and do nothing. So the minute you get up and go, you need more. You should at least eat about 200 cals more than your BMR. If you exercise, eat back some cals so that you eat a NET amount of at least your BMR. Hope this helps!
  • Thanks Kiki! I can see how eating at maintenance for 2 mths and then decreasing to the cut amount will trigger the loss. But I'm not clear on how it works if I stay at TDEE-15%, and let it ride for say 6-8 weeks. What do I change my cals to afterwards to start losing? Or will I start losing (after the probable gain) by…
  • Hi, I'm 42, 5'6" and weigh 183. 2.5 weeks ago I upped my cals from 1350 to 1800 (TDEE-15%, light activity). With all these posts here, am now wondering if I should up it to my maintenance of 2130 for the next month or so? Or should I stay where I'm at? Scared to be eating so much more (been conditioned that way) and not…
  • Hi! Thank you for this post...it's reassuring to hear. I was wondering the same thing. Everyone seems to be lifting, so wasn't sure if it would work for someone who isn't. Mind you, I'm at a rest period too and will start being more active (cardio/weights) soon. Thanks again! Nadia
  • I agree with all of the above! Stress about eating has dropped immensely now that I'm part of this playground! Just have to see if my body will follow the "game"!
