The foundation of weight loss is all about calories in versus calories out. You have to eat less calories than your body burns. While I do vouch for a well balanced meal plan and believe you can eat anything in moderation, you can technically eat what, when, how you like. As long as the calories in are less than the…

This has crossed my mind. I have a really got connection with him. He’s sweet but tough at the same time. He noticed a few months ago how I was suffering more and took longer to recover so he has since then adapted my workouts compared to my sister. I’ve also asked him to not give us any CrossFit workouts (he made us do…

Thanks everyone. I try to keep up with my sister simply because we share a personal trainer (who’s under 30!!). I tend to go slower than her, my reps take a bit longer to complete but I do them at my pace 😊. I will not let OA be my excuse, just need to recognize that it can affect things. Like someone here said, what’s the…

Sometimes, when I’m low on protein but not hungry for it, I’ll use protein powder for a boost.
-
Hey, I’m no expert and somewhat in the same boat but if I can offer some advise it would be to adjust your macros: up the protein and drop a bit from carbs (40P, 30C, 30F). Proteins will fill you up for longer and lowering the carbs a bit will remove some of the cravings. Do you drink enough water? And above all, which is…

The only problem I've found with this is that it looks at pure carbs, not net carbs (carbs-fibre) like Atkins does. So I just make that calculation myself rather than rely on the percentage of carbs eaten as it says. So, it shows you the grams of carbs you've eaten, but you have to see the total fibre and deducted.…

Hi, I started Atkins way of eating 2 weeks ago. Up until now I have been logging in both MFP and Atkins free tool as well. Atkins free tool helped me monitor my carb in take because MFP was completely off in my macro readings. Since I like MFP tracker better, I too started inquiring about the macro settings to follow…

Hi, I'm thinking of doing WW again but via MFP. The I Irish question was not answered...or at least I don't think so. Can the WW PointsPlus be added and used via a mobile device (iPad and/or iPhone)? Thanks!

Hey! Please add me :)

You can check out the group here on MFP.

Thanks folks for your kind words and motivation....I want to try to tweak the EM2WL philosophy and make it work for me. Drastic low calorie diets worked well for me in the past, at least to lose the weight...not maintain the loss. That's where the problems started. After 5 years of maintaining most of my 70 lb loss (which…

Thanks everyone. I have a HRM that I wear for some workouts. I just want something more than just a HRM. The TDEE calculation is interesting too :) Of course, like with any other gadget, you have to use it for it to be beneficial. The fact that it links to MFP and my iPhone/iPad is cool too. Love my gadgets! Thanks for…

Thanks for the feedback folks!

Thank you. We always want to see immediate results, but this is a lifetime journey. Must hang in there!

I hear you! And am not only with you but even past you!! Since I've upped my cals and then did a full reset for 8 weeks, I have gained (on a body that already had gained) a total of 15 lbs. I started my 10% cut July 3rd and guess what???? I gained another 2 or so lbs!!!???? I posted this on the EM2LW site and was told that…

Started my 10% cut on July 3rd...hasn't gone too well so far :grumble: Started okay on day 1 and 2 but then we went on a weekend getaway where we drove for 8 hrs, walked all day once there and ate out at every meal. Today I tried to eat at my cut again, but I was starving! Tomorrow is another day. Meanwhile, I caved…

Just started my 10% cut today. Increased cals 4 months ago, did full reset for 8 weeks (put on 10 lbs!)...fingers crossed that this works for me.

Try nuts and avocados! Delicious and nutritious! Week 7...eating more has become "normal" to me. Feeling less water retention! My hands were tight and sore every morning, I was plump and may face really rounded out. Felt and looked aweful. But I noticed a few days ago that my hands are ok now and the puffiness in my face…

NROLFW ...have it, read it, now REALLY inspired to try it. Just need some equipment. Thanks for sharing beautiful people! You are all an amazing inspiration! Wishing you more progress in your journey. Keep up the FANTASTIC work!

Been slowly increasing cals since March. Now in my week 5 of resetting. I've put on close to 10 pounds since March. I usually gain 3 lbs in the first week of upping and then maintained until the next increase. Been stable for a few weeks now. I got past the bloated feeling, found more happiness and energy, feel warmer, can…

Yes, right now, this would be my question..even after gaining during reset?
-
Welcome! I've upped my cals to TDEE-15% in March and gained 3 lbs. I then upped it to full TDEE for a few weeks now...gained another 3 lbs :grumble: but plan on finishing my 8 weeks. It really is scary but it makes so much sense, it HAS to work. I've been dieting for so long that 40 of my 70lb loss crept back on me over…

When I was eating low cals, as set by MFP, it used to tell me how LITTLE I'd weigh in 5 weeks....yet I was staying the same or gaining (and I was logging every bite, lick and taste as accurately as I knew how). So I second the motion to ignore it!

It is a challenge! Start with a bigger breakfast. For "snacks" I sometimes have a mini meal: hummus and veggies, eggs, nuts, yogurt and a fruit, leftover protein from the night before, low fat cheese, oatmeal, fruit with peanut butter. I always try to have a solid protein of some kind though several people have protein…

Also, eating at TDEE, you can be more consistent with reaching that number regardless of the day's activity. So if you have an off day and don't get that burn in, you still eat at TDEE. If your activity takes you lower than BMR, then you eat more. As for post just above, if you are feeling hungry either you're…
-
It's different for everyone. Personally, I gained about 3 lbs immediately after upping (upped to full TDEE in two stages) and the stabilized. Don't know how much I'll lose once I start cutting. :ohwell:

Amen!

Jess, I question this process mostly at TOM. I've been eating more for close to 3 months now (did TDEE-15% for 8 wks first) and can't wait to move on to the next phase. I know that this is what my body needs but the results right now are just depressing. Luckily for summer dresses, but hate the burn of rubbing thighs. Urg!

I think Jen is on the right track. You should calculate your TDEE and BMR cause even 1200 isn't enough. As for food ratios, decrease your bread and watch out for some fruits that can be high in carbs. If you love the breads, pastas, etc, choose whole wheat with more fiber but reduce the portions. You have to check the food…
