  • Hi Christina! Happy you are here =)... I started out with a lot of weight to lose... I hired a personal trainer and he asked me what my goals were. I told him I was going to lose 100 pounds in 6 months!!! His next question changed everything... he asked me why? What do you want to do? He said he needed a target other than…

My ART guy is Brian Watters.. I can give you his…
  • Start where you are mileage wise and build up slowly... the training series runs are also a good way to gauge your progress... The YMCA has a mini marathon training program if you want a group to train with... =)
  • YEP! It would be GREAT if I could see this on my phone... I've tried about a dozen times while I'm waiting somewhere because I always forget that it doesn't work that way...
  • Thanks Mojo... Were your Brooks shows neutral or stability? I had used the same saucony shoes since I started running, they came out with a new "improved" version that I tried and had trouble with... so I've been in shoe limbo, trying different shoes... sigh... maybe that is part of my problem...
  • I normally train 7 days a week, but since my sport of choice is triathlon it gives at least part of my body a little rest every day... then in the week or two leading up to a race we will taper, which involves taking entire days off... Our schedule peaks on the weekend as far as duration and intensity...
  • My family and I are run/walking the Turkey Burn at Craig Park... =)
  • Way to go!!!! It sounds like you did a fantastic job! The open water swim (OWS) IS scary at first... most people just don't swim laps in a lake! =) My first race was Tri Indy - it's a great race. The canal is great to swim in because if you get tired or scared you can just stand up, pull yourself together and move on...…
  • How'd it go? I love doing triathlons! I started last summer and now I am HOOKED =)
  • If you'd like to have some fun, run and support Back on My Feet check out Rock the Relay... it's a marathon Relay coming up on April 13th Basically you run 2.2 mile loops for a total of 26.2 miles. You can have up to 6 people on a team. The race benefits Back On My Feet =) http://www.rock-the-relay.com/event-info.html
  • The morning groups have walkers also, and it seems like they often need volunteers to work at water stations! Thanks for asking!
  • I go to the Baxter YMCA on the south side, I train (swim, bike, run) with their triathlon team... the group support really keeps me going consistently and working hard. I did my first triathlon last summer! I'm hoping to add in some CIBA rides this summer!
  • I thought about it last year, I'm going to give it a shot this year! Thanks for the encouragement!
  • Thanks everyone! I sooo appreciate all of the kind words! The people here have been such an inspiration! I read the Success Stories all the time to keep me on track!
  • Glad you're "back"... December 6th Challenge Do 5 planks... hold each for at least 30 seconds =)
  • WOW, I never in a million years thought someone would be jealous of my run times!!! LOVE THAT!! Actually, Todd really stresses non scale victories like running faster or farther, or trying something new (like learning to swim), or smaller clothes sizes... the weight has come off so slowly but those NSV's keep it…

  • Ok, It's December 1st. The first challenge will be for December 2nd... If I always post the day before it gives us a little planning time. Our challenge for tomorrow is to do 100 crunches! On the floor or the exercise ball!
  • Anyone going to do the Drumstick Dash and/or St. Niklaus Lauf? I think I'm doing both as family races... Also, tried a trail run at southwestway last Wednesday and it was great! Any suggestions for other good places to trail run in Indianapolis?
  • Sorry.. I accidentally posted that too soon. Anyway I love swimming/biking/running with the group because it has really helped me learn to push myself, I love the positive encouragement and it's a lot harder to blow off a workout if I know someone is waiting for me.... The Tornadoes also do team races... basically we all…
