  • The headaches are tension headaches. It might be due to improper form, but it's not one of those from compressing the blood flow at the back of your neck. The physical therapist helps massage specific muscles, provides a heat wrap, and suggests stretches. I've decided to go ahead and try weightlifting again. I'll just make…
  • Thank you for the wonderful post. I'm at the beginning of my journey, but I've realized many of those same points this time around. I'm still working on the loving my body part, but seeing what my body is capable of with exercise helps.
  • What I did to get myself to log (mostly on paper, not all that often on MFP) was to set up a calendar on my fridge. I set up two envelopes as well. One was the bank, one was my reward Each day I wrote down what I ate, I gave myself a check in the box for the day. Just on a notecard on the fridge. And then I'd switch a…
  • I cook out of "How to Cook Everything: Vegetarian" all the time. It's by Mark Bittman. There are a bunch of blogs I get recipes out of as well, but it's nice just to open one book and have plenty of ideas.

  • Oh! And an easy pizza. Take a whole wheat (not corn) tortilla, slap some sauce and an appropriate amount of cheese and load up with veggies. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. It's a great way to cut down on the calories in the bread and small tortillas help with portion control. If you like thin crispy…
  • For an easy stir fry, I saute some chicken with a teaspoon of oil. Take it out of the pan and then add in garlic and ginger and a whole bunch of frozen veggies. Dump everything on a plate and the sprinkle with reduced sodium soy sauce and sesame oil. The sesame oil really gives it something delicious... but be sparing!
  • Yeah I definitely think she did tactics like drink a whole bunch of water right before weighing in. And I don't blame her... I would too because it would help me in the end. But also, I think for a lot of contestants, as soon as they know they are safe they ease up a bit and it just happens naturally. That mental…
  • Hey everyone! I hope it's not too late to join. I think it would be great to be a part of the group. Besides, I'm going to have a personal trainer for the next 6 weeks to help me learn my way around a gym! I can't wait to see what the next 6 weeks will bring. I'm Jenna. I'm a 21 year old college student in engineering. I'm…
  • I would love to join! I've never been a part of a group here, but it would help hold me accountable! This year I want to lose 45 pounds to get to 130. I'm doing that by: 1) Planning out meals weekly, with calorie counting for the day before I even go shopping! 2) Committing to moving every day Specifically: Group exercise…
  • HRM are good, but it's important to realize that some exercise calories from walking to work and walking the dog are already built in depending on the type of plan you are using (sedentary vs. lightly active vs. active). You could use the sedentary setting and add in these calories later, but it means more entries! It…

I search for low fat ones and make normal recipes low fat. As much fun as it is to read those magazines, I love these online sites because you can read…
