  • The one you are able to stick with. - If you know you'll hate a certain exercise go for one you like or can at least tolerate instead even if it burns less calories. Another thing to consider are your joints and how weight can affect you doing certain exercises. To start out it may be better to look at low impact exercises…
  • You are not missing anything, exactly. CICO works. As you pointed out, the closer you get to maintanance the smaller the calorie amount you can eat and stay in deficit. The problem is your body needs a certain amount of nutrients to work right, so you cannot (should not, at least) shrink your calories indefinitely to keep…
  • I am not a runner but I want to be. Two days ago I just "went for a run" and it was fun. It was more walk-run-walk for about 40 minutes than an actual run and I imagine even my running was very slow, but I enjoyed myself. If I stick to doing that 3 times a week for a month or two, does this make me runner?
  • Well, I am pretty sure my local "Mexican" food chain makes food that is not Mexican at all, but their cauliflower burito bowl is pretty good and has low-ish calories.
  • Well, let's start with the old " you can lose on any diet as long as you stay under calories". - So, if you want to lose, you could just eat smaller portions of what you eat right now. If you want to be healthy, though, it becomes more complicated. What you describe sounds a bit like ARFID (which can be a thing that…
  • Well, what are you doing when you try to lose weight? And where do you normally falter? Others already have pointed out that "dieting" is often not the right thing to do, and that going dlow and treating this as a life style change may be better. But if you give more info you may get more tips specific to your personal…
  • I am on the "personal preference" bandwagon, too. - I weigh weekly. I'd recommend an added way to meassure your weight loss. Tape measuring. - Don't do that any more often than once a month, though. It's slower than weight loss. It is really, really nice, though, to see what "losing weight" translates to for losing cm.…
  • It can be hard to get higher on a low calorie budget, yeah. - exercise calories included, I tend to eat around the same amount of calories as you Additionally, I don't eat animal products. This means I had to really remember to have one protein source in every meal (f.e. oatmeal has added peanut butter or at least seeds,…
  • Hate Mettbrötchen. Always did, even when I still was eating meat. Quark is still elusive in NZ where I now live. My partner's mum fell in love with it while travelling in Europe, so I now keep my eyes out for it just in case. Things I noticed people where I live now find weird or just don't know: White asparagus. Asparagus…
  • 1 pound each week = 52 pounds lost in a year = awesone! It nay feel slow, bug if that's what is sustainable for you it is far, far better than a faster wright liss plan where you end up quitting because you feel deprived of things or constantly hungry.
  • I will vaccinate, but living in a relatively save place in the world (NZ) I am in no hurry. Let's get border workers vaccinated, their families, people with higher risks than me who is simply overweight (not obese) and getting thinner. Honestly, if it was up to me the vaccines we bought should instead have gone to hotspots…
  • Eating at least 1200 cals is definitely better. You'll get the nutrients you need easier that way, and probably feel less fatigued. - You'll lose the weight, too! 1200-1300 cals sound well under maintanance for you. Good on you for coming to that decision.
  • Little me: Chocolate pudding, potato salad, coconut macaroons, mashed potatoes and fish sticks, hot chocolate, milk chocolate Now: chocolate pudding, potato salad, coconut macaroons, tofu scramble, soy mocha , dark chocolate. Yeah, my tastes did not exactly change much.
  • Something fast without cooking? Veggies and hummus. Possibly sone rice thins with jam or chocolate spread. - Sometimes fruit with peanut butter.
  • My coffee is drunk out of my keep cup (one of my three keep cups, that is) even when I am home and sitting down. This was originally due to my cat jumping me once while I was sitting down drinking a hot drink, and me spilling said drink causing some small, not major, but still hurtful burns on my thighs. For some weird…
  • Maybe you are one of those people for whom pre-logging their foods is the best way to go. You could plan your meals, prep them in advance and know (as you measured and weighted everything) how many calories you will be eating tgat day in advance. That way you would not have unhappy surprises. I am a bit confused there.…
  • Dude, quadruple post! - How did you even manage that?
  • You say you cannot eat less calories. So, does that mean you cannot stick to your calorie goals or does sticking to your calorie goals not seem to lead to a loss in weight and you wonder if you should cut calories down further?
  • I adjusted my calorie goals down every 2.5kg for a while. Just refreshed MFP with my updated weight but the same weight loss rate. Bottomed out at 1200 cals now. Will probably stay there till maintanance (either at goal weight or for a naintanance break).
  • I've got a waist! I have been marvelling over it for a few weeks, actually, but since yesterday I have a dress that , without tucking anything in or a belt or anything, shows that waist nicely. And somehow, miraculously, does not make my belly (especially the upper pouch) stick out and look big. I feel good wearing…
  • I think you are doing great. You know why? After my last slip after losing weight if took me several years to first admit I had slipped and than work through the anxiety and disappointment in myself to try again. You? You are picking yourself up within months. That's admirable. Also, you had a freaking seizure? That's…
  • For me it is not the calories, it is that oat milk has so little protein for that amount of calories. - So I end up drinking soy lattes instead of oat lattes, which, honestly, helps me hit the protein goals MFP has set up (which is still low compared to what often gets recommended here on the forums).
  • Gonna join the majority of people saying "Calories". Different things (fiber and protein for me, bainly) may help you to stay in a calorie deficit while not feeling hungry. But those are aides for keeping under more than scything rise.
  • Are the right pics the new ones? Because to me you look bit slimmer in them. You seem to be holding your arms and hands at pretty much the same position in both lower pictures, but there is distinctly more space between your arms and your body in the right pic.
  • Do you have a recipe, and are they adaptable for having only an oven?
  • My bike. Literally. My partner replaced one inner tube, I cleaned it (her; her name is Lizzie) of cobwebs and dust, and now she is working again. Went on a small, 45 minute bike ride to test that nothing will suddenly break.
  • I kind of do this. When my pants get loose I go to the second hand store and find a pair of jeans a size smaller than my pants. I don't fit in it yet at this point, but I take it home and try it on once a week till I do. I did this twice now (NZ size 16 and 14.) I also have an older t-shirt I am waiting to fit into. I…
  • A week is too short to gauge if you are losing weight. Make sure you are in a deficit and continue on in that deficit forc another few weeks. Meal replacement shakes are "meh" to me. I don't think I would feel like I had breakfast with just a shake (same reason I don't have smoothies for beakfast). But I can see why they'd…
  • Yeah, but that leaves people like me feel uneasy. Like, now I have to feel like I am possibly an annoying brag and somehow insert a comment about my weight loss when I worry that nobody would want to hear about that. Literally, apart from a forum like here or very close people, the only way I feel comfortable mentioning my…
  • I am going to continue tracking till I reach naintanace and further. After a good while in maintanance I may decide to stop tracking, BUT will still record my weight and watch it vigilantly. Depending on this being enough I'll either stop tracking (with the occasional tracking week thrown in to make sure I stay good at my…
