I'm back....need to finish what I started
I haven't been on here in a few years. At one point I lost about 75 lbs. But over the years its been creeping back up and I've gained about 25 lbs back. So here I am trying to finish what I started. I know I can do this because I've done it before. This time I really need to finish and get down to my target weight and…

The number one killer of ALL diets - Complacency
I've lost motivation. I'm not talking about the motivation to stay fit or watch what I eat...I'm still doing that. I'm talking about that "little" extra that pushes you to continue to lose weight. I've lost 76 pounds since last April and my goal was to lose 100 pounds in a year, but I've gotten to the point where I'm…

Blue Jeans Guide for Dummies
I’ve been shopping in the plus size stores for about 15 years now. So as time has passed so have the styles of a pair of jeans. For the older folks out there, if you think you’re going to find some Jordache jeans or Bonjour jeans it’s just not going to happen. (“Travis you’re a year too late”). Yes, I know…I’m dating…

Is weightloss really slow?
Is it slow or is it all in our heads? I get on the scale every moring and usually the scale says the same number everyday. Then occasionally its a pound less. Then I go another several days with nothing. Then God forbid it be that time of month and I can go for almost two weeks with nothing. But then another pound…

Yes the Fitbit charge HR is accurate
So over the last six weeks since I got the fitbit I have compared exactly what it says are my burned calories (98,932) and subtracted my calories consumed (63,655). The difference is my deficit (35,277) over that time span. At 3500 calories per pound I should have lost 10 pounds. And guess what? I lost exactly 10 pounds.…

Shopping at a Regular store
So for the first time in 15 years I went to the mall and went to a regular clothing store. It wasn't Plus Size or Women's with a capital W. It was just a regular clothing store with regular size people walking around. And I tried on some pants and some shorts.....and they fit. Yes I did have to find a store that had 16s…

Fitbit exercise calories
Last night I walked at 2.5mph for 1 hour and 7 min. My Fitbit Charge HR says I burned 474 calories during that time. I'm 5'5" and 223 pounds. My average HR was about 110-115 and topped out at 120 at the very end. Doesn't that seem high on the amount of calories burned? Am I just that out of shape? My treadmill said I…

Just got a Fitbit charge HR
I just got my fitbit yesterday around 1:00pm and I have a couple of questions: 1. Last night I went to bed around 11:30pm and It says I only slept 4hrs 54 min last night from 1:54am- 6:56am. I did wake up for a little bit probably at the 1:54am spot. It had me asleep 18h 8 min during the day and 55 min between 7 and 8 pm…

Is Weight loss plateau just human miscalculation or cheating?
Or is there any actual science behind it? I've read a lot of posts on here and people talk about reaching a plateau during their weight loss journey and that weight loss isn't linear. But if it is just about the math and CICO then shouldn't it be? Well not necessarily a line but actually a curve with a constant downward…

Is it possible to lose 100 pounds in 10 months?
I started my diet April 1st when I was 254 pounds and I have offcially lost 25 pounds so far. I would like to lose 10 pounds a month for the next 8 months. Is that reasonable? That would be a total of 100 pounds in ten months. I'm feeling really good about my routine and what I'm eating. I really feel like I could do it…

Frustrated with lack of consistency of Calorie counts for foods on MFP
The calorie counts for just about all items are all over the board. Today I was putting in simple 8 ounces of chicken breast skinless. The calorie counts for that same 8 ounces can be anywhere from 360 to over 900. Check out my diary as I entered in all the different options when it came to choosing chicken. Descrepencies…

While at the community BBQ.....
Ok...true story. I'm on vacation in Carlsbad CA at a resort. I take my 10 ounce steak (yes I weighed it) down to the BBQ area. There is a family of four there and they are using both of the community BBQs. They have four porterhouse steaks....the huge ones like you get at costco. I'm sure they were at least 16 oz each.…

Beach vacation and dieting
So I've been on a beach vacation in Carlsbad, Ca for the past three days and I must say it has been very hard to stay on track. When I'm in my regular daily routine I can prepackage my breakfast and lunch but now I don't have my scale or my usual tried and true menu items. I went to Chipotle and literally had the manager…

Any Whole Food dieters our there?
I'm currently on a major lifestyle overhaul and looking for buddies on a similar journey. I'm currently doing a whole foods diet where I try and keep my meal items to one ingredient. For example, chicken with fresh green beans on the side...not chicken greenbean casserole. I'm also trying to stay away from possessed…

Things I've Learned from my trip to Olive Garden
Positives: 1. I only ate one breadstick instead of three. 2. I ordered the grilled Salmon instead of the Lasanga. 3. I only ate half of that God inspired Potato Tuscan soup. 4. My stomach has shrunk so much that I was unable to finish my meal so I took it home in s doggie bag. (That's gotta be a first) Negatives: 1. I got…

Difference of Calories on package
When I look at the package of one pound of frozen shrimp it says the pound is only 300 calories. But when I look up on calorie count web sites it says a pound of shrimp is 481. Which is correct? I often find discrepancies but never by this much on such a simple item. 1 pound of Boiled shrimp should be a consistent item.…

One month onto the road to a size 7
I started out about 5 weeks ago weighing in at 251 lbs. 5 weeks later I'm at 237 lbs. I'm 45 years old, I'm 5'-05" and my goal is 140lbs. And gosh darn it I'm going to do it. I'm not on a "diet". I've done that many times and it never works. I have simply changed changed the the type of foods I buy. I only buy whole foods.…
