Skiing when you’re obese, advice?
Hi everyone, last year when we went skiing for the first time as a family, at the time I was 190, and I had been running and had a ball!... things happened- my cheat days etc, I wasn’t 100% sticking to my diet- and now I’m 220... I’m worried how I will do, I have been back on the right track eating and kind of exercising…

C25k success stories, slow runners gain more speed?
I did C25k a year and a half ago, and did my first 5k in 36min, which for short me was pretty fast... I kept it up but only ran twice a week and my speed dwindled down... the good thing is it was still very therapeutic for me! Today I haven’t ran in two months, I also gained 20 pounds and I miss the runners high and the…

Back to running after 6 weeks off
I’ve fallen off the wagon with running, had an injury, then my child was very sick, I went off diet and gained 10 pounds back... and I felt too ashamed to go running. But now I’m really missing it, especially as my stress relief! I’m up to 200 pounds now so I’m not fit, but as of 6 weeks ago, I made sure to exercise 3x a…

Need some encouragement/insight with my race anxiety and recovery
I'm 5'3 and overweight but I really love running! It has helped my anxiety tremendously, but if I push my body to the limit in 5k races, it does the complete opposite. My first 5k with zero training I did in 44min, and after completing the C25K on the treadmill only, my first (and most miserable) 5k was done in 36min, and…

Embarrassing question- keep my fat roll dry, advice please?
Last summer, almost a year after my c section, I had started this diet and with all the exercise I developed a fungal/bacterial infection in the fat fold where my c section scar is... It took a month to get it under control and the only thing that worked, better than prescription cream was zeasorb... So I've been applying…

Back to the basics- help!
To start, I've lost 90 pounds since August 2015. I started with just dieting and no exercise with weight watchers but found it too restrictive and wound up here in 2016 and realized this is the basic and most successful way to do it. After losing 30 pounds and eating about 1250 calories a day, installed out for 3 weeks...…

Running- preventing calves from seizing on upcoming 5k
Does anyone have advice in preventing my calves from seizing mid race? Normally when I run I either go at an easy pace or tougher pace with some sprints, but today I ran a harder run because I felt the energy to, and had to stop because my legs were cramping up... this happened in my last 5k race and I had to stop right in…

2 weeks and only 0.4lb weight loss, what gives?!
I've been on this app since 2015 and lost 80 pounds with diet and exercise 3x a week, but started taking weekends off my diet and slowly I added 10 pounds back. Finally 2 weeks ago I decided I can't just diet during the week, because my weight was creeping back up, and exercising 1-2x a week wasn't enough either So.... I…

What do you do when you screw up?
In the past, if I screwed up with my eating I would say- okay eff it, I'll eat what I want the rest of the day and tomorrow will be a new... but that hasn't helped obviously!! Today I ate these protein bites (from my local meal prep place) they had chocolate and tasted like a good cookie and well I ate them all! Anyways...…

Runners- getting back out after being sick
I've been sick for about 3 weeks now, found out I have bronchitis and starting to feel better enough that I just want to get back out! I have never missed more than 7 days running before, but only run 2-3 times a week anyways. How much harder will it be, should I walk for longer during my warm up getting into it etc?

Cold weather running effect?
I'm curious- this is my first winter running outside, and we have a big cold front that moved through, it's 15 degrees out (wind chill of -1) I had taken off 5 days running from being sick, but I did my normal walking warm up, and my Achilles were screaming pretty quickly (which doesn't happen to me) and I felt shin splint…

Runners- what is happening to my speed with my 5k's this winter?!
-My first 5k (zero training or exercise) in April was 45min. -did the C25K program and did a 5k in August in 36min, but I pushed so hard that I fell down and cried from the pain. To date that's my PR! I started slowing down my running because I was transitioning to running outside, and my next 5k I did in 38.5min in…

Runners- indoor bike advice?
We have had our first snowfall today and it is rough outside, ended up having to do the treadmill which I absolutely hated! I cannot do it mentally... with this crazy week of winter snow and the roads are so icy and we are expecting snow every day this week, I don't want to torture myself on the treadmill because if I'm…

Runners- advice for keeping daughter with me for an 8k race?
I know this is kind of kid related, but if any runners have any ideas to offer that would be great! My daughter is 7, she loves running and has done 3 5ks with us as a family, but we always split up and go at our own pace, as my daughter is much faster than me (she's seriously built to run) but my husband is always the…

Runners- need advice, losing motivation
My first 5k without training which I mostly walked I did back in April in 44min, and found that I really enjoyed it, so I ended up doing couch to 5k, and was only up to 2.5 mile runs on the treadmill, and ran another 5k in 36min flat... since that run, I decided that I despise the treadmill and switched to running outside,…

5k training pace vs race pace help?
I know I have another question, but I want to ask because it's more simple... If I train at around 13:15~13:45min/mile running 3.5-4 miles twice a week, is it accurate to say (from what I've read) that your training pace should be 2min per mile SLOWER than your race pace? For example, if I do my runs comfortably at…

Who watched "fat sick and nearly dead"?
I just watched it on Netflix and it was very interesting!!! I'm just genuinely curious- what do you all think of fasting for a few days, does it really help to detoxify or are you doing more harm than good? And won't you just end up gaining that weight back once you go back to your "regular" diet routine? Other than that…

Help balancing runs outside and on treadmill?
As for my (many) previous posts about my feet/toes going numb when running, I have thoroughly concluded that I just don't have this issue when I'm on the treadmill. Problem is, I now despise the treadmill!! Doing longer runs is so boring, I absolutely love it outside, it truly makes me happy and I look forward to my runs…

Toes going numb again... advice?
My toes used to go numb, and I wasn't able to recreate it occurring on a treadmill with my physical therapist, and eventually with taking a week off of running I was able to run again, and switched back to just doing the treadmill again, and went back to the runners shoe store and found that I needed to go up half a size…

5k training, what's a realistic goal?
My first 5k with zero experience was 44min in March, which I had to walk more than half the time. After doing C25K I ran the entire time for my 5k yesterday and finished in 36min exact ... my friend is doing C25K now and we signed up for a run during the first week of October, what's a realistic goal time? Obviously I…

Day of 5k tips?
I'm running my first 5k that I trained for and I'm so so anxious!! My first one I hadn't even run or prepped for in march, but it gave me the running bug and running is my new love! Runners- toe/foot numbness every couple of weeks?
Since I completed the C25K a month ago I'm now regularly running about 30min every other day, once I started heading outside and off the treadmill I ended up getting foot numbness and silly me pushed through it and made it worse... I went to a PT and they said my shoes fit well and are good for me, all I ended up doing was…

Settings- putting in activity level and noting exercise?
I'm confused as to how I include exercise into setting up my profile and if I am understanding this right... I am moderately active, so if I select that of course I assume that I am given extra daily calories for being moderately active... so does that mean I shouldn't be logging my exercise and eating my exercise calories…

Am I eating enough?
Since I've started running aka exercising I've felt much more hungry. Normally I was eating 1250-1300 calories a day but was sedentary and did not feel deprived!! I dropped 90 pounds over the last 2 years just fine... now with running every other day, I eat back about half my exercise calories which amounts to 1500-1600 on…
-
What to eat on running days?
I normally never really ate back exercise calories, or maybe only 100 or so calories because I was never that hungry... But after completing the C25K, I'm running 2-3 miles 3x a week and at the end of the days I run I have a mini binge, so my weight has stayed the same for 5 weeks.. I'm craving sweets, cookie/frosting/etc…

Running advice for shoes- underpronating
I have taken a few days off running because when I switched to running on the treadmill, to outdoors, I probably should have only started outside one day a week and not quit the treadmill cold turkey! Increasing running speed suggestions?
After completing the C25K app, I'm working on my speed now, which seems to be a whole different ballgame! I downloaded the 5k pacer app, which, to my understanding, gives you tempo runs each run, and over 8 weeks increases the length and/or frequency of runs and distance a bit near the end. I'm definitely used to my speed…
