Cutting Calories Advice From Book?
Hello! So I'm wrapping up stage 1, its great and I love it so far...but a question was lingering in the air for me. Lou suggests not to cut from maintenance level calories during the first four weeks at least, and doesn't give much input on when the best time to start that would be. My question is, when did everyone here…

Martial Arts and Weights
Hey Guys, So, I was wondering if there were any people who practiced martial arts out there and supplement their practice with weight training. I was doing 5x5 StrongLifts, but I'm at a point where my practice is a priority and that particular weight program leaves me too sore for the mat and open to injury. I'd rather do…

Weight Gain During A Cut
Has anyone had this happen? I did a reset and my weight stabilized. I go into a cut and gain five pounds. What gives? Yes I log consistently, I use a scale, and I do not eat back exercise calories.

Recalculating TDEE
So, I'm wondering. I didnt buy the starter kit, and the quick start guide is sorta vague. After a cut cycle, do you recalculate your TDEE for your current weight or go back to the original TDEE?

Strong Lifts 5x5
So...does anyone else use this simple program for their strength training? I have a friend who is very fit, and very knowledgeable, telling me that I don't need to lift so heavy and that "Getting stronger and getting in shape doesn't mean you do that." I'm not sure if I should be mildly insulted or not? Or if I've been…

Eating more
Okay folks, I'm starting to wonder about if I'm doing this right. I'm seeing a lot of people who are saying that they're struggling to eat their calorie goals for day as they increase to their projected TDEE. I decided to "rip the bandaid off" and just jump up to that amount. I was deprived too long. The scale has been…

TDEE and MFP Calculation Confusion?
Alright guys, so at the risk of sounding silly, I gotta ask this question. Has anyone else encountered MFP giving you a number for weight loss, and the TDEE giving you that same number just to maintain? For the past six months, I've been kinda stalled out on my weight loss. I've had bad days, I went over, didn't measure…

Dark Chocolate VRS A Banana for Pre-work out?
Hey guys I was in the doctor's office the other day skimming through a shape magazine, and there was a little blurb about athletes who ate a bar of dark (70% cocoa or higher IIRC) chocolate and how they performed better during their runs. Now, I'd love an excuse to eat chocolate, but I'm skeptical. Does anyone do this? Has…

Wonky Calculations by MFP?
So, I have hit a "plateau" so to speak. My weight has been hoovering near 166 for about 4 weeks now. I went into my fitness pal and was thinking: "Okay, maybe I need to adjust my calories?" When I went in, I realized that my starting weight was 158, which is where I was a few years ago when I quit logging (Starvation diet,…

Best Budget Bikes?
Good Morning. So, I'm kinda sick of running. It's getting nicer out where I live and I was pondering the purchase of a road bike. However, the last time I got on a bike that wasn't bolted to the floor of the gym was roughly before I was able to get my driver license. Does anyone have any suggestions on brands that won't…

Stronglifts 5x5 and Planet Fitness
So, here's my question... I go to planet fitness because it's a half a mile away from my house and I want to start the StrongLifts 5x5 program. However, I'm having some doubts about the equipment that Planet Fitness has and whether or not I can actually use this program properly. The Planet Fitness I go to does not have an…

Accuracy of MFP burn?
Just throwing this out there... I take an Aikido class twice a week and this past Saturday I took a seminar. I decided not to log the day because I knew there would be a potluck after the seminar and wanted to count it as my cheat day for the week. Well, for giggles I logged it anyway and counted the minutes of martial…

Hard Exercise and Weight Gain....that didn't go away...
Hello again forum... So last week I posted about how I seemed to gain weight overnight, and I felt reassured by the good advice I got. However, I jumped from 172 to 178 and when I went back to my normal routine I only can seem to get back down to 175. Such a fluctuation wouldn't bother me at all if it weren't for the fact…

Hard Exercise and Weight Gain?
So, the past two days I participated in two very intense Akido lessons. I'm a beginner in the art and was limiting myself to only once a week (I'd go every other day, but the class schedule clashes with my work schedule and I can only go on my days off.) This past week I decided I was going to push myself and go twice.…
