Losing lots- diet or exercise first?
Hello! Forgive me for asking this again especially because I feel like I’ve asked it before lol - but for anybody who has had to lose a lot (50 plus) did you focus on diet first and then exercise once you got to a certain weight? I’m having such a hard time and continuously starting over because I’m afraid of lifting…

Obese- Focus or Diet w or w/out Exercise?
Hello! So I’ve been a yo-yo dieter for sometime now. I’ve recently gotten to my highest weight ever (265lbs), thanks to quarantine, but also bad eating habits prior to lockdown. My question has always been should I just focus on eating within my daily calorie limits or also make sure I’m exercising too? While I know this…

Eat less, weigh less?
Is it really that simple? Being that I’m considered obese and would like to lose at least 60lbs, is it recommended to eat as few calories as possible? I’m almost 265lbs. I have had my calories set at 1390 a day but didn’t see much movement. Using other calculators I see that it says I need a total of 1600 and 1700 a day to…

1200 calories a day- eat back exercise cals?
This may be a silly question to some but I just want to know does it matter to eat exercise calories back if eating 1200 cals in a day? I ask because I know eating too few can stall weight loss too and I usually get a few hundred calories back from exercise. Wondering should I just consume my 1200 calories or focus more on…

Strength Training or Cardio for the obese?
So at minimum, I have at least 60 pounds to lose. I enjoy strength training but I know that strength training can be said to cause you to bulk? While I would like to lose weight first and then tone, I wasn’t sure if strength training first, would cause me to not shed the necessary pounds? I am most concerned with being…

diet only success?
I know that weight loss is really just math, and Calories In vs. Calories Out, but wondering if there is any one out there that lost weight on diet only? I always focus on exercise and then think that it is a buffer to not eat the best. Just hoping to see if anyone has lost weight just on diet? Needing encouragement.…

5 week weight after completing diary
Just wondering if anyone has really reached their 5 week prediction? Of course it says "if everyday were like today" and that is not possible to have all your days be the same, but just wondering if you have or usually come close to the predictions? Thanks!

Walking only for exercise/weight loss?
I know that it really is just calories in vs. calories out for weight loss, but wondering can you lose weight with walking alone and if anyone has done it? Will work up to jogging but I enjoy walking. I usually walk at a medium pace and tend to be winded (I think it matters how fast you walk?). Thanks!

Women who had/have 50 or more to lose
What worked for you? I have been a yo-yo dieter for quite some time but can’t seem to find something that works well for me. I know that consistency is always key, but somehow I always give up because it seems like nothing is working to really shed the weight. I’m back to my highest weight of 250. This is the highest I…

Obese dieters- what worked?
Just curious. As I feel as if I have been a yo-yo dieter for the entire time I have been on this journey, over a year. I have tried it all and found that calories-in/calories-out worked, but my weight loss was very slow. Tried keto, weight-loss shakes, you name it. I have tried it. For those who had or wanted to lose…

Strength Training- Weight gain
After strength training seriously for the last past few weeks I have gained about 8 lbs. I have strength trained for over a year but have recently gotten into a serious routine of 3-5 times a week. I feel and look smaller than I previously have but the number on the scale has gotten me down as I was so close to getting to…

What do you do...
When your weight loss stalls? I have a made a post before about plateauing and received lots of helpful advice about cleaning up my diet which I have done. I am still considered obese at 215 lbs and 5'4. I am really just trying to get out of the 2s then I will re-evaluate from there. I hear that the last 15 lbs is the…

Plateau!
So after 35 lbs lost since June, it seems that I can not lose anymore weight. I am still considered overweight as I am not out of the low 200s and I am 5'4. I have heard that plateaus can last for some time but I would say that I have not seen any real loss in over a month. Just fluctuations. I have heard that after a…

Not a huge success but I will take it!
Just wanted to post my results so far. It has been fun watching my body transform but nevertheless a process. I started at 250. Current weight is 219. Just hoping to get out of 200s then I will reevaluate. Lately I have been frustrated with the slow weight loss but trying to stay positive. I started seriously on this…

How long was your plateau?
Just wondering the longest that others have experienced a plateau? I know that everyone is different, however I have been serious about my weight loss plan since June 2016 and have only lost 30lbs. When I say serious, I mean counting everything that I eat and working out 5 times a week. I started at 250 and am down to…

Updating calorie goals
I've lost 24 pounds since June but have so much more to go. I seem to be stuck at a standstill and just wondering how to revise my goals to reflect my new weight to help keep my progress going? My assumption was that MFP would do it as I update my weight? Getting so annoyed with myself and the fact that I have been the…

Possible plateau after just 20 lbs lost?
Is it possible to hit a plateau after 20 lbs being lost? I'm not expecting to magically lose weight, however, I am logging actively, having deficits, and working out 5-6 days a week, sometimes twice a day but not seeing much movement anymore. Not giving up but just getting frustrated :disappointed:

Heart rate zones for weight loss
I know my heart rate zones for fat burn and cardio but just wondering if I do a workout, but do not reach my fat burn heart rate or higher, do I not lose weight or burn fat? I work out seven days a week and stay within my calories but haven't lost weight in the last past two weeks or longer. Someone just suggested HIIT,…

Caloric Deficit or Net Calories
I have been working to have a caloric deficit, but just also learned of net calories. Having a caloric deficit has helped me to lose some weight in the last few months. But when I look at my net calories from a day to day basis, I see that they are significantly high. Could this be why my weight loss has been slower than I…

Stretch Marks

First 10lbs
Just wondering how long it took others to lose their first 10lbs? Getting frustrated but trying to not be discouraged. Wondering how long it took others to lose the first 10. I know everyone is different but 2 months with little movement, like 7 lbs, is becoming annoying.

Losing inches but not weight?
So I've been exercising daily and weighing and logging everything that I eat. I'm happy that I am losing inches mainly in my arms which were a problem area for me. But just wondering since I'm losing inches on my body overall, when will the weight come off? Frustrating but I'm happy that I'm experiencing some loss I guess.

Most accurate way to determine daily cals
So MFP has told me the daily calories that I should be eating. Just wondering is there a more accurate way to know how many calories I should intake? Weightloss off to a good start
Just wondering what has gotten others weight loss off to a good start? I was encouraged to get a food scale which I have. I also exercise about 5-7 days a week. Too few calories? Is there a such thing?
Recently, I've been trying a plant based diet which has finally gotten my weight loss off to a good start. Other diets did not work. Just wondering if there is a such thing as too few calories? I've heard that if you do not have enough calories, your body may start storing those foods that you do eat as fat. I am allowed…

Dieting and Exercising at least 6 days, no weight loss
Hello all. Just curious as to what everyone has done to get the ball rolling on their weight loss? I have had my gym membership since Feb 2016 and have consistently worked out each week for a minimum of 5 days. However, I am not seeing any weight loss. I fluctuate between 1-2lb difference but no real loss. I will admit…
