Workout advice going from 5x5
I've been doing the 5x5 for awhile and I really like it. I'd like to try doing a 3x8 workout and do a few more exercises per workout. I'd also like to go to a body segment type thing. Chest, back one day, shoulders, arms and tri's the next workout. I'd like to incorporate some of the 5x5 lifts just not sure what would be…

Deadlift with octagon style weights
I'm sure there's an easy fix for this that I haven't figured out. When I do deadlifts with the octagon style weighs I always seem to put the weight down on a point so one of the weights shifts and moves the bar out of parallel. It's annoying as hell and really affects my momentum. I have to stop reset and lift again.…

Lifting Expectations
I've been doing Stronglifts for a few weeks now and I was wondering what the expectation should be once you start lifting a certain amount of weight. Certain exercises are getting tough now but the only ones I've had failing reps with so far is overhead press. I was wondering what kind of strength gains I should expect and…

Gaining Chest Mass
I've tried just benching and flies and also tried push ups and incline/decline bench. It seems like my chest gets stronger but I get no mass. I do see a difference in my shoulders and arms. I'm guessing they are taking more of the load than my chest. I'm doing bench press currently and I'm wondering if maybe my grip is too…

Shopping for clothes as an older Male
My wife never tells me what clothes look good on me and I suck at shopping. I usually just buy stuff online and see how it goes. As I've gotten older more of my friends are getting fitted shirts and pants. Even jeans. I'm not sure if I'm ready to drop the money for that yet. Is that what grown ups do or are there other…

Barbell Row Hinging Problem
I'm doing the Stronglifts workout and I'm finding when doing heavier weight on the barbell rows I'm having issues hinging right. The weight is not heavy enough to where I'm worried about my lower back or knees. Only lifting 65lbs at the moment to work on form. The problem is I can't seem to hinge so my chest is way over my…

Stronglifts Workout Advice
I just started doing the stronglifts workout this week. Anyone have any advice on the mistakes they made in the beginning so others don't do the same? I can see how not warming up and going too crazy with deadlifts and improper form could cause serious problems. TomK65201, I hear ya on the rows. I'm not the most flexible…

Supplements and Acid Reflux
I didn't want to believe it was the recent supplements I had been taking that was causing indigestion but I've found that to be the case. I recently started taking Musclepharm 3:1:2 BCAA's and in just a couple days I developed horrible indigestion. I stopped taking it and took some Prilosec which I've never had to take…

Smoking Weed
I've never done drugs and always tried to distance myself from people that do. I recently made a friend I like a lot who just admitted he smokes now and then. I get that marijuana is becoming more acceptable in our society. I've always felt is kind of a crutch for a lack happiness elsewhere. Would you stop being friends…

Cartilage - Shoulder Pop Question
I have an issue when doing bench press where I feel a little cartilage pop in my shoulder. I don't feel any pain but when it happens I naturally think about it and I think it affects me putting 100% into what I'm doing. Is some pop normal? It's not loud enough to where someone can hear it happening sitting right next to me.

Question About Lifting
I'm looking into getting more definition and bulk. I started out on a heavier weight lifting program but I have a concern. I'm used to doing a lot of different exercises and reps where this new program has me doing maybe 5-6 exercises at a time and hardly any sets or reps. Usually each exercise is 3sets of 6-8 reps. It…

Time frame for improved flexibility
I tried Yoga for the first time last night and it was laughable. I couldn't even get in some of the starting poses. Just trying to sit on my heels was almost impossible. I'm going to stick with it for a bit to see how my flexibility improves. I haven't been able to touch my toes since high school. I was wondering what…

The Benefits of Vinegar
I used to have pretty bad sinus issues. I'd get an infection once or twice a year. I tried changing my diet and other methods such as honey, neti pot and other things. The only thing that seemed to help was adding more vinegar into my diet. Over the last three years, I've made a conscious effort to eat one or two salads a…

Working Out and Marriage
I was kind of wondering how often getting back in shape puts a stress on a marriage. I know I'm going to get flamed for this but it's just reality. I know a lot of guys who got in shape after a lot of years being overweight. Usually, the spouse let themself go and physical attraction becomes a problem. So the guy gets…

Soooo Much Sodium
It seems that everything I eat has a ton of sodium in it. I'm always like 1000mgs over my sodium goal. I like to incorporate some energy drinks when I do intense workouts for electrolytes. Many of those are loaded with sodium. Anyone have some hacks to get their sodium count down? I don't add salt to any of the foods I…

Being the change
Hello, my name is Kevin: I kept looking at old pictures of myself thinking how great it was to be like that and feel that way. I kind of felt those days were over, especially now that I'm in my late 30's. Then one day as I struggled to just keep up with my kids running around in the yard I got angry. I'm tired of being…

Muscle to Fat Ratio
I've been lifting weights pretty consistently for about 4 weeks now. My workouts consist of 3 days weight training for 30-40min and two other days of 20min cardio. The cardio is a varying intensity run that changes intensity every 2min for a 20min total. Sounds confusing but if you've done the body for life workout you…
