Got an A1C
I had a blood draw before an appointment next week. I had an A1C of 6.0 which is pretty much where I have been. I am staying the course with the diet, and that seems to be working for me. Hope all is well with everyone...

Thanksgiving
I am curious about the strategy for Thanksgiving. Do people take a holiday from the diet? Is it a matter of damage control? I have historically counted carbs only and calories have gone out the window. This seems to work OK for me, and glucose numbers do not go crazy. I realize that Thanksgiving around the corner is an…

Pebble in my shoe
I am on vacation and doing some serious walking. As many of us do, I have some neuropathy in my feet. It seems I picked up a pebble and was not aware until I took my shoes off later. I think I need to get medical to take a look at this.

Waves hello
It has been a while since I have posted in this forum, but I thought I would come back to say "hi." I have been keto since 2016 and used it to get blood glucose numbers and weight down. I got off diabetes meds, lost over 100 lbs (I have kept off), etc. I had a doctor's appointment today, and he told me this diet was really…

glucometers - no LC content
When I went to the pharamacy after my diagnosis, they sold me a OneTouch Ultramini. I have used this with OneTouch test strips, but the cost for them is very high. I have now been through 50 Equate strips ($13.99) and almost 50 of the GenUltimate strips ($9.99). The Equate strips with the new code seemed to get identical…

Cracked, dry skin on balls and heels of feet
I am applying ProFoot Heel Rescue when I get out of the shower and before putting on socks. This has stopped the cracking. It does not hurt so much, and the cracks "might" be getting better. Does anyone have experience/insight with this?

Timing of Metformin
I have been doing some n=1 experiments and thought I might report. For context, I am T2D and check my glucose about 5 times a day. I am pretty good at predicting where they will be based on experience. I read somewhere that metformin is best taken about 30 minutes before eating a meal. I decided to try that to see if it…

sleeping
All my life I have been a light sleeper. I go to sleep initially very readily. My head hits the pillow and I am out like a light in 5 minutes or so. Once I have slept more than 4 or 5 hours, almost anything can wake me up, and I can't go back to sleep. I reported this to my doctor 20 years ago or something. He ordered a…

meters temperature sensitive?
My BG readings have been higher now that fall has arrived. This happened last fall/winter too. I thought it was just me. Wondering if the meter was temperature sensitive, I decided to conduct an experiment. Check fasting BG on rising - 117 Put the meter in the pocket of my sweat pants for 5 minutes and check again - 99 I…
