20 lbs a year--why not?
I was on here last year and lost about 25 lbs, and have put back 5. I realized that even if I "only" lost 20 lbs each year, I'm still much better off than I was before. So, rather than beat myself up for "quitting" or "failing," I'm going to pick up where I left off with a sense of accomplishment. It is so much easier for…

Suddenly, my eyes are sensitive to sweat?
I'm a world-class sweater, and always have been. In the past week or so, my eyes have started to burn when the sweat gets into them. It's cooler now and I'm sweating less, but my eyes are reacting more. They are also super itchy and just "not right." I'll be seeing my doctor but I am just wondering if anyone has any…

Have you traveled to Mexico for dental work in the past 5 years?
Hi. I'm considering going to Mexico for the dental work I need done. My teeth are pretty awful and affect what I can and cannot eat. I've done a thread search and the only one on this topic is from 2013, and I am pretty sure people know more about dental tourism now. So if you have an experience to share, please do! TIA.

Favorite grocery shopping app?
I'm trying to streamline my meal prep process by going digital. What apps do you find most helpful and why? I searched for a thread on this and nothing specific came up, so I apologize if I'm repeating a thoroughly-answered question.

Looking for a gym with a rower?
I found this site that locates gyms with Concept 2 rowers for people who are traveling. I don't know how up-to-date it is, but I was so pleased to find so many (50+) within 10 miles of me. Give it a try! I'll be reporting back when I find out whether or not most of the places listed actually (still) have a Concept 2.…

Who else is "enjoying" the exceptionally hot and humid weather gracing the US Midwest this weekend?
Just thought I'd see how everyone is handling it, esp. if you walk/run/bike, etc., outdoors. I'm getting up and out early tomorrow and it will still be really tough, but worth it.

How do you handle the diary discrepancies?
My diary would look really off to anyone else, b/c the exercise estimates are simply too high, and I mentally subtract cals burned. Yesterday, I "logged wrong," so one exercise entry was a lot closer to the cals I would eat back--I did some walking, but the estimate MFP gave me was about 200 cals higher than most other…

Running and rowing?
Greetings. I'm a life-long jogger (even through obesity and smoking). I want to add something that will strengthen the back of my body and my core, and rowing looks like a good choice. Plus, rhythm and scenery are important to me--it's why I prefer jogging, hiking, and walking over weightlifting/weight training. I have a…

Setting myself up for failure.
I've lost 5 lbs in 5 weeks. Pretty cool to see it happen. But I just realized that I am setting myself up for failure. TL;DR: I need to learn to control my weight through my diet, first and foremost, and keep exercise as the pleasure it has usually been. I was actually thinking about all these young folks I see who are…

For newbies who need a pick-me-up
I found this thread on the "Success" board: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10087100/what-nobody-tells-you-about-losing-weight/p1 It has made me laugh out loud, tear up, get mad, and nod in agreement. People are honest and empathetic. One warning: it is now over 370 pages long, and can be a huge time…

New member intro and question: what change would you make first?
Hi. I'm a 59 year old woman who has been overweight for the past 20 years, after the birth of my 2nd child (who is, yes, now 20!). I've also gained weight steadily over the past 5 years or so and reached my current weight of 240 just recently. Nothing fits and I am miserably uncomfortable in my own skin and clothes. I have…
