I'm trying to streamline my meal prep process by going digital. What apps do you find most helpful and why? I searched for a thread on this and nothing specific came up, so I apologize if I'm repeating a thoroughly-answered question.

I use a simple grocery list app Calle Our Groceries. It’s syncs with my husband’s phone, so we are always on the same page as far as what’s needed.

I don't use an app but do order my groceries online and pick them up at the store. There is a list of my frequent purchases/purchase history that makes reordering things I get often very quick. I think you might be able to create and save lists. The store I use is Hy-Vee but other stores may have similar features.

What's a grocery shopping app for?

I mean I'm guessing they'd provide some sort of shopping list but what else?

    I use Out of Milk.

For me, all I needed was a dynamic shopping list that I could organize into departments. I had been writing what I needed on a sheet of paper beside the fridge. When I went shopping, I ended up walking back and forth between departments multiple times each shopping trip and figured there had to be a better way.

Now I can get everything on my list in just one circuit around the store.

Related - Someone just asked me about whether MFP would generate shopping lists based on recipes. I didn't know and didn't see it easily. Does anyone amongst you shoppers know? I guess you would plan your week with the recipes you have and then MFP (or some other app) would generate total quantities needed of each ingredient. Then you could maybe check your pantry (manually) and cross off what you don't need and then hit the road. I don't do my meal plans like that but she does.

Pen with a pad of paper.
I use Google Keep if I want to sync a shopping list with other family members.

For making a simple task harder than it needs to be.

I like Our Groceries. I have it linked to the Alexa and can stand in the kitchen and tell Alexa to add the groceries straight to the app.

I have used Mighty Grocer for a couple of years. I tried the free app and liked it so I paid for the upgrade. As I use it every day it was well worth it. The recipe feature is good and I like the fact that it keeps track of prices so that I can comparison shop. A piece of paper works well but I kept losing my list. Haven't lost my phone ...... yet.

Honestly I normally just use a piece of paper. I look at the meals that I'm buying groceries for and have no problem organizing items into sections (I also take into account things like snacks). If for whatever reason I don't want to use a piece of paper I'll use something like Google Docs or Evernote.

Apps? For Grocery Shopping? The next generation is all going to develop kyphosis from being hunched over their Cell phones.

I have always written my grocery list in order of my store layout or grouped all the produce together, meat together, non-food items together, etc. It makes for a faster trip to the store.
I write my list on a white board on my refrigerator as the week goes. If I were shopping in the store I would then write it on paper but I mostly order my groceries and pick them up now.

I'm not sure how a grocery shopping app helps with streamlining meal prep?
For that I would suggest maybe a limited rotating meal plan so you plan less... maybe 3-4 different meals.
Use the same grocery list every week with minor tweaks.
Eat simple food some days like sandwiches or wraps.
Cook extra for dinner and use leftovers for lunches. Pack lunches while putting away dinner leftovers.
Always have some items on hand to quickly add to your lunches like fruit, carrots, cheese, yogurt.

I just type the list in Memo. Or I write it on a piece of paper if I'm at the farmer market since I'm taking note of my budget. I only have apps from places I regularly shop for sales.

I have just started using the Change4Life Smart Recipes app (saw this recommended on a previous thread), not only does it give you ideas on healthy recipes but also adds the ingredients onto a shopping list.

I use Pepperplate to store all my recipes. I also do my meal planning from there for the week, and then you can add all the ingredients to your shopping list which I can access from my phone. I’ve used it for years.
