So what exactly is an INTENSE workout?!
So, one of my great MFPs sends me fantastic links every now and then. Great advice for me and also helps keep me on the straight and narrow. Reading one about potential over training, I saw the term "intense run" used. Now I really don't understand how you measure an intense piece of exercise on a scale as to me, it's very…

Fitness NSV
OK... so I don't normally post my "NSVs" but today I am... just to put you in to perspective, Since being able to see my exercise as a statistic on here a couple of months back and with my competitive nature, I've been trying to "pre-plan" what exercise I will do a week in advance and then beat it too... I've also tried to…

What does Physical Fitness Training/Conditioning mean to you
Just thought I'd throw this out there as a point of discussion and interest... Everyone is bound to have different answers and I thought it might be inspiring to see how fitness and physical training/conditioning shape your life. For me, it epitomises a lot of my personality, focus and drive. Why? Fitness training and…

What distances do you run and how often?
Hey guys, for those of you who are good at long distance running, what sort of training plans do you operate? Mine is a bit arbitrary/hashed together. I train pretty much every day for at least 90 minutes. Sometimes this includes an outdoor treadmill run of at least 7.5km, but nore often than not between 10 and 14km and an…

Fitness Test and Body Composition Assessment results and inf
Had a pretty decent today. In the military, we are routinely fitness tested. In the Royal Air Force, we undergo a disclaimer followed by a calculation of BMI and they also take in to account waist circumference the Multi Stage Fitness Test (MSFT - Also known as the bleep test) immediately followed by 1 minute of press-ups…

Butter vs Low fat/calorie margarine!
SO... I've been using butter lately, but for some reason 5g of butter goes further than 5g of margarine... so I can actually have the better taste for the same calories because I use half the weight and butter is double the calories roughly... for the same effect... anyone else found this!?

Athletes, Phys monsters and all who exercise or train!
Recently I had a pretty nasty tumble out running. Ultimately it has left me with some rib damage on my left hand side. Now, I'm no stranger to broken ribs, I've broken 3 on my my right hand side falling off a horse and i broke that really tiny one just under your collar bone in an awkward tackle in a game of rugby against…

Perhaps a NSV and bugger at the same time!?
So today I went to try on this GORGEOUS faux fur gilet my parents got me for Christmas last year. Now whereas I weighed less last year when I was bought it and wore it, it pretty much fit me, Maybe a tad on the big size. Because I thought it would look fab out in this weather today, I thought I'd try it on. Only to find…

Over training - what constitutes it?
So recently I've been looking at over training. I am, a declared fitness addict. I love the endorphin rush at the end and I don't see the point of going to the gym for any less time than 30 minutes, nor do I see any point in going to mince around! I know I look awful with a little sweat so I may as well go full hog is my…

What is meant by eating "clean"?
I suspect I'm already doing it from an intelligent guess... but could you explain to me what you all mean on here by it? Thanks! Val

Casein/Dairy allergies and protein shakes
Just wondering guys and gals - I suspect I have an allergy to Casein, generally speaking I don't eat much dairy, I'm generally OK with a small amount of skimmed milk. But if I have lots or a large quantity at once of semi-skimmed or richer milk, or have any cheese (other than the cheapo salad cheese I've been using which…

Hello from a female military officer in Shropshire UK!
Hello All, I'm Val! I joined MFP a while ago using the iPhone app. More than anything, I like the fact it makes me plan my meals more and helps make my shopping easier! I've not lost that much weight but I've gotten much fitter. I was already fit (I had to be for my job) but now I'm getting much higher scores on my Fitness…

Weight gain despite exercise and restrictive calories and se
So I was never overweight but I wanted to eat healthier and look a bit slimmer and toned... So I've been calorie counting and looking at the balance of what I eat with the help of this... initially it worked, but I've ended up gaining about 12lbs (6kg ish). I haven't gotten much thinner in fact... I suffer with horrendous…
