chalk, straps, or gloves?
Which do you prefer? I am getting to the point on my deadlifts to where my grip strength is limiting my ability to do deadlifts to my full ability. I am trying to fix that by doing farmer walks (barbell loaded carry), but in the meantime, what should I use? My gym allows chalk, but I wasn't sure what my best option was. I…

"If you're not a runner, you're not an athlete."
So, I've had an active lifestyle for a few years now and it took me a very long time to feel like an athlete. I had this misconception that if I didn't run, I wasn't an athlete. So, I pushed myself to run 5ks, 10ks, a half marathon, participate in triathlons, etc. because I wanted to be "athletic". Only after I had a hip…

issues with milk?
Long story short, I cut milk out of my diet several months ago because I stopped eating cereal for breakfast (in favor of eggs and whatnot) and had cow's milk for the first time today. Now I feel like I am going to die! My stomach is making these alien sounds and I have major cramps. But, it is odd because yogurt and…

Stronglifts 5X5 vs something else?
So, I like the idea of stronglifts 5X5, but was just wondering...... Does anyone do stronglifts for sport-specific training? Is there a better program that I could be doing? I row, bike, and swim, so I was thinking about doing stronglifts but also adding in core at the end of the lift? Do you do another program? If so,…

examples of larger build women?
I have always been larger than other women, and I am not saying fatter (although I am that too haha!) But, just a stockier, sturdy gal. Right now I weigh 230 and am a size 16 across the board, so I know I have decent muscle mass under there. I am looking for example pictures of women with larger frames for fitspo! I have…

squat rack/home gym
I am shopping for a squat rack for my home gym, and would like for both myself and my husband to be able to use it. He used to be a powerlifter, so I know that the rack will have to be VERY sturdy. Can anyone recommend a rack for us? Also, would we have to set up some plywood and mats underneath? We are turning our garage…

Is anyone else excited for Garmin's fitness band?

deciphering between "moderate" and "light" effort
I suppose this would be easier if I used a HRM, but when you don't have one what is the best way to figure out whether it is moderate or light effort? I figured that hard effort was similar to my 2K effort, but what about that gray area?

Am I being paranoid or unreasonable?
So, at first I just thought that I was being finicky. But now I am not so sure. We order out as a group at work, and our secretary orders for us. I generally try not to order out, and bring my own lunch 90% of the time. It just seems like every time I have our secretary order for me, maybe she messes up my order on…

What is your opinion of Dr Oz?
So, my first grumble about Dr Oz was his raspberry ketones pitch. THEN he touted the green tea or coffee NOW it is his two week rapid weight loss BUT, THE STRAW was when I read an article about him donning a fat suit. He was talking about how he felt in a fat suit, and I wanted to throw my tablet because it seemed so…

Overweight spin instructor
So, I was considering getting my spinning instructor certification in November but decided against it because I didn't think that people would want to take a class with an overweight instructor, but now I am considering it again. Where is a good place to buy rollerblades? Is there such a thing as a specialty store for these? I used to blade when I was a kid but all I can remember is my feet hurting all of the time.
