Overweight spin instructor?

So, I was considering getting my spinning instructor certification in November but decided against it because I didn't think that people would want to take a class with an overweight instructor, but now I am considering it again.

Do you guys think that having an overweight instructor (who is capable of doing the workouts.... I do olympic distance triathlons for pete's sake!) would be motivating or the opposite?

Would you take a spin class with an overweight instructor if they were knowledgeable about cycling AND spinning, and were also motivating for you to achieve your ultimate fitness goals?

I already realize that MOST people would not want an overweight instructor, but am more interested in seeing if there were people who would actually take such a class..... maybe market it towards a demographic more like myself?

I wouldn't have a problem with it. As far as spinning classes go, I like instructors with good music who also teach the class in a way that I know what is coming and can pace myself. One of the A.M. instructors at my gym is a road biker and you can tell by the way he teaches - he never counts and I always feel like I don't know what I'm doing. It usually means my workout is either way too hard or way too easy. I spin twice a week currently and definitely prefer instructors who are more aerobic instructor like. I don't care if they are rail thin or if they are overweight.
  • I wouldn't care - my main preference is an instructor who can choreograph effective routines that go along well with the cadence of GOOD music!! I'd love to teach someday myself, but I need to build up my endurance more and yes, shed some lbs.
