I have a vintage bathing suit to fit into, yo. what would be a.ma.zing is if i could say "i have x and y available: what kind of meal can I make with these ingredients and…

Simplify, Simplify, Simplify
This isn't necessarily weight-loss related, but it is in a way. Much of our lifestyles have put us into the positions we're in today; part of it is being truly unconscious (the living dead) while we perform other tasks, including eating or not exercising or whatever it is that we're doing or not doing. Some of it comes…

just curious: size to weight ratio
so i'm curious what your height/weight and most dependable dress size is. i just read a blog about someone who weighs almost 50lbs less than me, but is in the same dress size, so it got me thinking, "wow, i wonder what kind of variation i will find if i ask." so here i am, asking. ;)

falafel!
okay, the falafel is in the bowl in the back. from left to right, back to front: lettuce, falafel tziziki, hot sauce, pepperoncini, kalamata olives, shredded carrot, feta & cilantro / roasted poblano hummus. everything was home made from scratch except the pita, which i normally make but was out of wheat flour and time.

winter boots
So big calves run in my family and mine are no exception. My calves are about 19" at their largest point I'm looking for winter boots that preferably go to the knee, are flat, combat style, with a waffle sole for traction. My calves are pretty much solid muscle, so I don't expect them to get much smaller than maybe 17 in…

industrial food safety thread
i'm starting this thread so when i get the emails about which foods are on recall, i can just post them here. many people on this site use processed foods and or packaged foods for "dieting" and so it's really important to know which foods are in recall with e.coli, listeria, etc... more than 5000 people a year die from…

malnutrition
one of my mfp friends was talking about fact & fiction and it got me thinking about nutrition in general. this is not meant to be a preaching, but i think it's important to remember that obesity is a form of malnutrition, just the same as famine but on the opposite side. when the body is overfed with cheap, manufactured…

an observation...
so i've always been a little curious about the percentages. i use this site as a way to keep myself in check, but more than anything, in balance. so even though i like the idea of being able to keep my calories on the forefront of my mind, my real agenda is to ensure that i'm eating enough of the good stuff and in the…

How to use a pumpkin
Last night I made it my sole effort to use an entire pumpkin. It was a "sugar pumpkin" so rather small, maybe about 3lbs? It yielded a TON of food for only $2, is nutritionally packed and has a nice, neutral flavor. I think canned pumpkin is about $1.50 and you would get only 1/4 of the flesh that comes from a whole…
