so i've always been a little curious about the percentages. i use this site as a way to keep myself in check, but more than anything, in balance. so even though i like the idea of being able to keep my calories on the forefront of my mind, my real agenda is to ensure that i'm eating enough of the good stuff and in the right proportions.

so i started a little study on my numbers. i think this is how i'm going to gauge myself from now on because a) it makes sense to me and b) because i need to visualize things to understand them fully.

so what i'm aiming to do is to keep my percentages in within a 10% range in relation to the other percentages.

for example, i had a day where i ate out for lunch at a fast food restaurant (i was in a food desert and the only grocery store was in a fire drill... ) i ordered reasonably and i wasn't bothered by the calories or anything like that; after all i don't eat out very often and almost never at fast food.

but when i did the numbers, this is what i noticed:

and that was pretty much okay, because i was just trying to get a measure and since what's done is done, i just observed it.

so then the next day, i ate rather healthy, but still went out to eat (it's been a busy week)

the way i figure it, i want these numbers to be within a 10% range of each other, so if my calories are 75%, then everything else should be between 70-80%

When I cooked at home the next two nights, the numbers were far more even:

its' just interesting to me to see how the numbers work out, and i don't take the numbers as religion because they're all just generalizations. i'm not worriedt that i didn't make a "potassium goal" because i don't really have one, but i do like to see the numbers in a nice steady range, even if everything is 150%, then let everything else be in between 145- 155%!
