Perimenopause....
Was not sure where to post this topic.. but this seemed the best fit. Any advice suggestions for dealing with perimenopausal symptoms of fatigue, extreme irritability... I exercise daily. I get probably 7-8 hours of sleep per night. I eat pretty healthfully. Any natural supplements that you would suggest. I am tired of…

Elbow bursitis/tendinitis
Granted, I am self diagnosing myself currently, but I believe I have some sort of elbow issue due to the start of lifting heavy (NROL4W), started maybe second week of program. Since I know the routine of RICE, I am doing that prior to consulting my physician... Just wondering if anyone has had either of these conditions…

Interruption in middle of stage 1...
Anyone have to take a break in the middle of stage 1?? I had a fall on the ice and hurt my back/side plus what I thought was a bruise from banging my elbow may be more an acute soreness from the lifting as it has not gotten better in a few weeks... Anyway with all the holiday activities and stuff I think I have to skip a…

Anyone here have/had patellofemoral syndrome??
I had been training for a half marathon... about 4 weeks out from it, I started to develop knee pain during my runs (only during my runs). I did a couple 5Ks and experienced the pain. I rested it a bit and tried to do a run a week out from my half, got pain after less than 2 miles... Went to doctor and diagnosed with the…

Knee pain advice
I originally posted this in one of the general boards the other day and thought I would come here for more thoughts: I have been training for my second half marathon which is in 2 weeks. I have never had issues with my knees until last week I fell on my left knee. Nothing major, slight brush burn. The following day I went…

Need expert running advice please!
I have been training for my second half marathon which is in 2 weeks. I have never had issues with my knees until last week I fell on my left knee. Nothing major, slight brush burn. The following day I went out and ran 8 miles. It started to hurt around mile 7. Felt a little stiff when sitting to getting up but when I was…

Does not make sense
I made muffins this morning following a recipe which had nutritional info stated with the recipe. However, due to needing to substitute low fat buttermilk for nonfat buttermilk, I had to create a recipe in MFP recipe calculator. There was about a 40 calorie difference with my muffins made with the low fat being lower than…

Women of a certain age... mid 40s...
Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but is fatigue what is to be expected from here on out... I am soon to be 47 and probably have been perimenopausal for a year or so now . No matter how much sleep I get, it does not seem to be enough. I feel tired all the time. I am not anemic as I donate blood and…

PIZZA!!!
Try this for a low cal version of pizza. Take a whole wheat tortilla and put in 425 degree oven until crispy, probably less than 10 minutes. Top with pizza sauce, low fat, part skim mozzarella and whatever toppings of your choice - be sure to measure portion sizes of all ingredients. Tonight I added spinach, mushrooms and…

Ugggghhhh!!!! A big gain
6 pounds in 1 week... how does that happen. Last week I lost 2 from the previous week. I know I went over on the 4th and on Saturday but no different, and probably ate less than I normally do on the weekends... Hoping it is just TOM but so frustrated to see that... :frown:

Runners and supplements...
For you runners out there, what are your supplement suggestions (I currently take a multi). Anything else necessary/beneficial?? And yes I know I should try and get most of my nutrients from fresh foods! but wanted to hear what others take...

Question for runners...
I am currently in the midst of training for a half marathon. However, I am planning to do a mile race in about 2 weeks. I never really do speed work or anything like that, just basically run by how my body feels. I want to somehow incorporate speed training in my current weekday runs which are shorter, 4-5 miles. What…

Donating blood and working out
I am planning to donate blood tomorrow. Any opinions on how this will affect my workouts for the couple days thereafter. I plan on getting in my run (4.5 miles) before donating blood and was possibly going to work just lower body the following day. I am in the midst of half marathon training (September 9).

NSV
Well it is late afternoon and as per norm I am dying for something sweet... Now I work from home and have options but instead I went with cup of peppermint tea with some chocolate stevia drops... not quite a peppermint patty but it will keep me from going for something bad!

For those who like a little salad with their dressing...
Most of you probably know this tip, but I thought I would share. I make my salad in a bowl with a lid. I then measure out my dressing as per recommended serving. I then add to salad, place lid on bowl and give it a good shake. This gets everything covered in dressing. I like this better than the dipping the fork into the…

Is there something wrong with me....
I am truly starting to believe I have some sort of disorder. I can eat very well during the week but on weekends, and only when I am alone, my eating is out of control. I literally will go from one thing to another. For instance, last night I had dinner, probably around 7:00ish. My husband went to bed as he had to go into…

Carb/Protein/Fat percentages
I am changing my goals from the standard 1200 MFP gives to implement the TDEE. I was wondering what my percentages should be for carbs, proteins, and fats. I currently work out 6 days a week, running 3 days (training for half marathon) and do strength training the other days. My rest day usually entails yoga or stretching.
-
For those following a custom plan - based on TDEE
Are you still recording your exercise even though if you set your calories to what you TDEE is and you don't eat back the calories... does that make sense?? Meaning, if I had the suggested goals set by MFP, it gives me 1200 calories but then adds in extra calories for your workouts. By setting my own goals according to…

TDEE
So I am trying to figure out my TDEE. My question is what to put as my activity level. I do work out on average 6 days a week alternating days with strength training and running, plus a dog walk every day. However, my job is very sedentary, pretty much sitting at computer 8 hours a day. Was not sure if I should consider…

Running and rest day...
I run 3 days a week and crosstrain the other days. I do my long runs on Saturdays. Right now my mileage is fairly low (6 miles) but building up to a half marathon. Is it better to take my rest day the day before or after my long runs. Note I do not work legs for 2 days before a long run as they are usually sore from the…

Grumble, grumble, grumble...
Week 1 down, no weight loss, in fact slight gain... I did track most days but perhaps totally blew it over the weekend... No one to blame but myself, just needed to gripe! :grumble:

Strength training for legs once a week, enough??
I am a runner currently running 3 times per week training for my second half marathon. Right now I am doing a routine where I work lower body (with weights doing lunges, squats, etc. for 20 minutes and abs for 20 minutes. I do a day of upper body/ab weight training. I feel that since I run my legs get taxed plenty and I…

Alternating higher carb days with low/no carb days
Any truth to this helping with weight loss??
-
Ab/core work every day??
I know you should not work the same body part 2 days in a row but I heard that you can work abs every day as they are harder to really over train?? Opinions???
