I have been training for my second half marathon which is in 2 weeks. I have never had issues with my knees until last week I fell on my left knee. Nothing major, slight brush burn. The following day I went out and ran 8 miles. It started to hurt around mile 7. Felt a little stiff when sitting to getting up but when I was walking it did not hurt. Did a 5K two days later, started hurting last mile or so. Rested it for a couple days (other than walking). Ran on treadmill 2 days this week with no pain. Just did a 5K and it started hurting again last mile (on a good note I placed second in my age group! Anyway, my question is, I was going to do a long run tomorrow (8-10), short run mid week (4-5) and another long run on Friday. My half is on the 9th. Should I rest it for a few days??? Try run/walk?? Any advice please!!!

With a HM coming up within a few weeks, I would rest it. Getting to the starting line healthy will do more for your race than hitting all the training runs over the next few weeks. I assume you are probably starting to taper anyway, cutting back a little more than planned is not going to hurt you in terms of fitness. Skip the long run tomorrow, maybe do some other cardio that doesn't stress your knee instead and then see how the mid week run goes. If it starts to hurt at all, back off and rest it some more.

Rest would probably be wise. I also have to ask, how are your shoes? If the shocks are worn down in them that can cause a lot of joint pain. Maybe get some new ones if it's been a while? Definitely a few weeks pre-race is the time to do it so you can get them broken in. If you're not already I would also suggest a compression wrap during your run and ice after. Good luck in your HM!

New shoes so that is not the issue... same brand I previously wore for the past year or so with no issues... Coincidence it came on right after the fall but definitely think it is ITB due to location... not the area I fell on actually but close. I have basically completed my training program and just wanted some extra time. Will definitely rest it the next couple of days for sure, ice, foam roller, etc....

Thanks all for the advice! :flowerforyou:
