6 pounds in 1 week... how does that happen. Last week I lost 2 from the previous week. I know I went over on the 4th and on Saturday but no different, and probably ate less than I normally do on the weekends... Hoping it is just TOM but so frustrated to see that... :frown:

That happened to me on my official weigh this past sunday. I knew it was the fact, thay I may did not eat much but I had higher sodium foods.from the cookouts attended for the 4th and not enough water. So I have watched my sodium and drank extra water and poof after about 2 days it was gone. Just try drinking more water and watching sodium, and most of all dont get discouraged. Good luck.
  • I wouldn't worry too much. Your diary looks ok anyways. It's most like water weight. If you had a lot of sodium, your body would be clinging to water. Also... women just naturally fluctuate with our cycle. Don't get down on yourself! Just keep at it :)

A pound of fat takes roughly 3,500 extra calories. That's over and above your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) - which is a number higher than your normal daily calorie goal. Looking at your diary, you went over by maybe 1,000 calories on July 4th? Maybe a bit more if it was a rough estimation. You went slightly over on another day, but have been under your goal on most other days. It doesn't look like overall you've gone 20,000+ calories over your TDEE. Therefore, it's not 6 lb of fat.

All that extra food would have made you store more water, and if it was high in sodium, then that would have been more water still. If your period is due to, then that will probably have added to it. So, I know it's frustrating, but it's not 6 lb of fat! Just keep doing what you're doing, drink lots of water, and it will come off again.

Probably water weight, if you have been exercising as well sometimes you retain water the next day.

I am hoping it is due to TOM but not sure about that as I stopped BCP a few weeks ago and have not gotten TOM (was on pill nonstop for a few months), but I certainly feel crampy like it is TOM... As far as salt, I don't use added salt at all and do not believe the foods I eat are high in sodium. I did have a soy sauce marinade on my chicken last night but it was low sodium... who knows....

So here is a continuation of this story.... after my 6 pound gain this morning, I drank my water, had my breakfast, had a pre-run snack, went for my run, came back showered and down almost 4 pounds... Still up 2 from last week but that I can handle! CRAZY SCALES!!! :explode:
