Hotter'N Hell 100
Went to this ride this past weekend. It's the largest one day ride in the US. The newspaper stated there were 11, 159 riders. We had a pretty good time. People were super nice, roads were decent and the best part was they closed the road to traffic for the riders. I did the metric and my partner did the 100 miles. I've…

Ordered my new road bike!
My partner and I have had our basic mountain bikes for a couple of months and this past weekend we ordered road bikes. I'm both excited and nervous! Excited because who doesn't love a new bike? Nervous because I've never ridden a road bike (other than the test rides) and I'm still a baby MTBer. I ordered a Jamis Quest in…

Strava app problems
Anyone else having problems with this app? Yesterday when we went mountain biking it shorted me 2 miles. Between me and my partner we had 2 cyclometers and 2 apps (she was using map my run) and 3 of them put our mileage at 10.3 and Strava put it at 8.3.

The Joys of Eating Dirt
I've only had my mountain bike for 3 weeks and I've only been on 2 trails. Today I discovered the joys of eating dirt. Apparently my stamina level is directly linked to my skill level. I was mostly doing fine on the way out (single track, 5 miles out and 5 back) and then when I had only about 2 miles left my engine ran…

Trek 820
Just picked up my new Trek 820 wsd. Haven't ridden for years, so I'm pretty excited. This will be my around the subdivision, local park trails and some of the state park trails bike. Next spring I'm hoping to add a cyclocross bike.

New bike on layaway
I've been wanting a bike for a long time, but for various reasons I haven't gotten one. Well, this weekend I put a Trek 820 wsd on layaway. It was the right fit for the money I can spend right now. I'm hoping to have it out of layaway in Sept. By then hopefully the temps will be down a bit. For now we'll be riding in the…

Best wired workout headphones
I seem to be having a hard time finding a good pair of headphones. I'm no audiophile so it doesn't need to have the best sound, just be comfortable and stay in my ears while I'm on the machines or doing weights. I don't have small ears, but I do have small ear canals. All suggestions are welcome. PS....I'm not interested…

New to the site
Hi Gang! I'm new to the site. I'm 41 (almost 42) and I'm finally trying to get my life/health together. I have a great home life an I'd like to enjoy it for many, many years. My current goal is to lose 50lbs...ultimately I'd like to lose 70. So far I've lost 6. It's a long road, but I believe this time I've got the…
