Cat is new to MFP
Her name is Cali, Fifi, Kitty Kitty, Meow...many names. She at one time weighed 7lbs, but is now up to a whopping 10lbs. Her favoirite hobbies are to scamper around the house, bat the dogs on the nose, sleep, and eat. She's looking for other motivating kitty friends to help her lose the 3lb spread.

Small kitty NSV
So yesterday after an intense discussion, my cat stopped eating and went and chased the dog and her toy mouse down the hallway for a few seconds. She's getting stronger everyday! I'm so proud of her.

How do you know when it's time to throw out your clothes
I know this is a pretty dumb question, but I honestly don't know when to throw out my bigger size clothes. I can still wear my shirts and the majority of my pants I can wear without a belt. Even if I lost more weight I'm sure I could wear the bigger pants if I just put a belt on. So my question is when is it time to get…

Ladies, are you ready to get rid of your big clothing?
I have just thrown out 3 garbage bag full of clothes that are now too big for me. I'm left with a pretty meager wardrobe. I know there are others out there who are also ready to get rid of their too big clothing and pass them onto the next person. Does anyone have any size 26-24 US women's clothing? Right now I fit best…

I'm not very motivating
One of my coworkers lives near by and wants to start walking with me, but I'm going to be honest I dont want a work out buddy. I feel bad though we are both really heavy, and know that the motivation might help her to get her health in order. It's selfish of me to not want to share in health and fitness. However, that's my…

Questions about exercise and weight gain
There are some great posts today about why you may see weight gain with exercise. Of course I cant find them now. :grumble: So if weight is maintained or gained following exercise d/t the small muscle tears and the body's protective response of inflammation and water retention? Then would it be recommended that your rest…

Marine physical fitness
I think the ultimate health goal would probably be in enough shape to pass the physical fitness test for the marines. I assume that is one of the most stringent physical requirements for the armed forces well besides some of the elite forces like Navy Seals. Am I correct is that one of the most intense physical fitness…

Sit up training wheel?
OK I know sit ups probably arent the best thing, and there are better exercise for the ab, but when you've never been able to do a sit up you want to do one at least once in your life. So one of my goals is to do a sit up just to say I can do it. So I took an old robe belt wrapped it around my feet, put my feet under the…

Rewards when you are in maintenance?
OK, I'll admit it I have the mentality of a 12 year old if you want to get me to move you have to promise presents. I need to be rewarded with something. Right now I have it set up that every 10lbs I get a new prize of some sort. I was thinking what will I do IF I ever get to maintenance? I've decided I'll reward myself…

HRM for resistance training?
Is a HRM effective with resistance training and flexibility training. This is a pretty elementary question and probably a real "DUH", but it would seem to me that since you really dont get your heart rate up into an areobic state that it would not be a good indicator or calories or work performed. Is a HRM monitor good for…

Fats, yay or nay?
Curious, when you see that for a tablespoon of say walnut oil (high in essential fatty acids 8.6g PUFA), but it has 120 calories in it does that cause you to rethink if you should add that into your diet? Would it be better or worse to add those calories into your diet? Would you choose a serving of chicken breast or the…

A review on long-term weight loss maitenance.
This review looks at some of the strategies on people who have maintained weight loss for a long term. Although I'm not sure I completely agree that a low fat diet causes weight loss as much as a diet lower in fat usually means lower calories. Interesting thought, and does provide hope for anyone who has maintained longer…

Ideas for helping foot pain
My lot in life seems to be always suffering from some sort of foodt pain or leg pain. Doesnt matter the shoe even when I've been fit with $200 shoes I am still going to end up with a blister or pain the next day. Even when I was a skinny child I can remember dreading walking because more than likely I was going to get a…

This is my ode to fat... I LOVE you fat in all your glorious forms from the way you make my food fry up to the way you make everything taste so yummy. Education of trainers?
What sort of training do most Trainers have in a gym? Are they dispensing nutritional advice to clients with any sort of formal training in nutritional science and biochemistry? Seems that some people are told some pretty weird stuff by trainers on this forum.

Creme burlee light on calories but big on flavor?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE creme burlee. I think it's the heavy cream, egg yollk and sugar that make it so divine. I would love to find a recipe that is tastes just as creamy and rich as creme burlee but is less than 200 calories for a serving. There is this recipe floating around but it's still nearly 300kcals! 2 cups 2%…

What do you do when some one you love has gained weight?
I've watched her slowly put on weight over the last 2 months. All she does now is stay inside, sleep, and eat. It's constant. I can't get her to stop. She's now up to 10lbs from her pervious low of 6lbs! I don't know what to do I'm so worried about her health. When I try to talk to her about it she just stares at me with…
