I've watched her slowly put on weight over the last 2 months. All she does now is stay inside, sleep, and eat. It's constant. I can't get her to stop. She's now up to 10lbs from her pervious low of 6lbs!

I don't know what to do I'm so worried about her health. When I try to talk to her about it she just stares at me with this blank look like she doesnt even understand the damage she is doing to her body.

I watch her try to move and it's getting more difficult. When she jumps up on her perch I can see she is struggling. When she tries to crawl into her little bed parts of her hang off. I try to pick her up and take her away from the bowl but still she comes back.

I encourage her to run by putting bits of string on her head, but nothing. It's disgusting to see her pork on the weight. Her once lean mean muscular calico body is now soft and pudgy, and she doesnt even care. She just continues to have a kitty binge. I cry for her future. She doesnt even try to sneak out the door anymore!

I think I might stage an intervention. Get her into kitty OA. HELP! How should I address this issue with her? It's out of control. Do you think I should use calories in vs calories out with her or just clean eating? I'm at my wits end10lbs!!

Get a younger cat to constantly harass her. She'll lose weight from the stress and annoyance alone, and kitty will steal her food.

    Also, raspberry ketone catnip.

Tell her to lay off the catnip. Everyone knows that gives them the munchies and ruins lives.

Tough love - take a picture of her and stick it next to her food dish.

And I agree with avoiding the catnip, it just encourages over eating and sneaking bites of your plants.
  • I don't really know. I guess put them on a leash and take them for a walk?

Are you measuring her food? Are you feeding her on an intermittent schedule or small meals throughout the day? Are you feeding her after 8pm? All things to consider...but don't cut back her food too much. She will go into starvation mode and become skinny fat...NO ONE wants a skinny fat calico cat!

I had to put my dog on a diet...I fed him once a day and it was the weight control formula....he got to where he didn't even eat all of that

You should get a kitty stroller and take her for trips in the park. As she becomes more interested in her surroundings see if you can transition to a leash. She may take to it and then you can walk her in the park.

Beware of dogs. Best carry a baseball bat just in case.

Maybe it's depression. Have you considered counseling?
