proof that lifting will bulk you up, ladies!
Watch the whole thing... buried in here is the ultimate demonstration that if you lift like a man you will look like one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u2H0WNs Edited to add: OK, that was actually an accident -- the link was broken! lol Now I don't know whether that or the original intent is better. But here's the…

Partway there! Diabetes and lifting progress (pics)
*Edit -- I have no idea how to resize pics linked this way to keep them from being cut off, but they can all be seen here: http://imgur.com/a/dwjao ** I'm a type 2 diabetic. I've never in my adult life been at an "ideal weight," but at one point I was very active, training 6 days a week in martial arts, and down to 180 lbs…

Thanks for the help (progress pics!)
Thanks for helping me figure out how to approach cutting weight while lifting. As you can see, though I've only lost 9 lbs on the scale since I started to cut, the results have been dramatic! MFP won't display the whole pic, but you can see it here: http://i.imgur.com/AsO6xJ7.jpg The left column is from January, weight 205…

NSV
I was walking down the hall, and a guy I worked in a lab with last year did a double take. The first words out of his mouth were, "Have you been starving yourself? You've lost a LOT of weight. I seriously almost didn't recognize you!" :oD Then I had the pleasure of telling him that actually, I'm eating a ton. lol

how much is your recovery affected on a deficit?
I've only been lifting since Jan 14. My lifting schedule is pretty intense and right now suits me very well. I've been aiming to eat slightly over my TDEE on lifting days and considerably under on my two rest days, and my weight has been stable for the last six weeks or so. Previously, I had been eating far too little (a…

fito friends?
Does anyone here use fitocracy? If so, let me know -- I like being able to cheer friends on for their workouts. :o ) I'm MonsterToBe over there.

Feeling GOOD!
Woohoo! Hit my previous max for squats (200 lb) for an easy, solid triple tonight! I'll be using it as my opening attempt in my first meet this weekend. :oD

My gym is weirder than your gym
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT8bEKmjP3w I love the people I lift with! lol

Do you hate having your picture taken?
Everyone who has ever cringed at the idea of being photographed should read this. Even if the reason for the cringe has nothing to do with your weight, the ideas here still apply: http://myfriendteresablog.com/so-youre-feeling-too-fat-to-be-photographed/

NSV
I was standing up, talking to my husband, who was sitting down. All of a sudden he got this intent look on his face and leaned forward -- I thought I had something stuck to my neck. "What?" I asked. He said, "You *are* losing a lot of weight. Your neck is more slender and your windpipe is more defined." Not the same as…

unusual medical situation, not sure where to go from here
I'm a 41-year-old diabetic and have had poor tolerance for most oral medications. I'm going to have to give quite a bit of background before asking my question, so please bear with me! A few years ago, it was entirely diet and exercise controlled (and I had to have been eating at least 3000 a day). Then a lung infection…

I has a happy!
I seriously lucked out!! Found a trainer at my gym so I can learn good form -- he's the only trainer there who lifts heavy. He's on the university powerlifting team (same school I attend). Turns out, there's a club... I went and checked it out tonight. I'll stay with him at the gym till I'm able to handle an empty 45 lb.…

W5D3 -- done!
I'm doing the distance version, so that was a 2-mile run. It took 35:39 (not including warmup or cooldown), which is a 17:49 pace... nice and slow. I appreciate all the advice everyone gives about taking it slow. I never would have made it if I was trying for speed! As it was, there were still a couple of points on the…

W4D3 done, with Zombies, Run!
Running with this app is SO MUCH FUN! Has anyone else tried it? I have RunDouble going in the background to tell me when to walk and when to run, and let Zombies, Run! handle the music. I love the incredibly detailed logs of the run on the website afterwards, too!

W4D2 done... and a 5K this Saturday!
So I closed out the year with W4D2, will do D3 on Wednesday or Thursday (whichever day I don't go to Zumba), and I'm going to do W5D1 during a 5K on Saturday and then finish it out with however much running/walking feels good. I'm used to the distance, since I do that with my regular C25K runs and they end up being about…

so addicted...
Yesterday was a rest day, and I was watching TV with my husband when a few joggers ran through the scene. I was flooded with jealousy. lol

W3D3 after being sick for over a week
I did W3D3 yesterday morning, because it was the first time in 10 days I'd woken up and felt normal, and I missed running! I'd spent pretty much the whole week in bed with no energy at all. The only exercise I did was very, very, very light cycling on my stationary bike to loosen muscles up and alleviate that all-over…

calorie intake while sick
I'm used to eating at a deficit of 500 to 1000 calories. My activity level is way down right now and I'm sick -- wondering what has worked for other people? I'm thinking I should eat my sedentary TDEE till I'm over whatever this is.

celebrating a major NSV!
I AM CELEBRATING TONIGHT!!! I'm a type 2 diabetic, and I swung by my doctor's office this afternoon and asked for a copy of my last two sets of lab results. My HbA1C (which assesses average blood glucose levels over the previous three months) in July was 8.5 -- which is as bad as it was when I was first diagnosed and had…

NSV
So I went to the store to get a couple of jeans in a smaller size. I made a beeline for the style I've been wearing for the last year and a half because I love the way they're cut. But I COULDN'T GET THEM. Instead, I had to leave the Women's section and head for Misses, and find a new style. I don't think I've ever been so…
