How do you Southern Texans do it?
I have been traveling to San Antonio weekly for business for the past month or so, and will continue to for the remainder of the year . . . this has proven problematic to my diet, because the Mexican food there is abundant and AWESOME! I am trying to work out in the hotel as much as possible but I am working long…

Target Heart Rate Concern
Hi all, I have a question for those of you who use an HRM when exercising . . . How vital is it to stay within the target heart rate? My issue is that when I do low-impact exercising or walking I have trouble getting up to the low end of the target range, and when I do anything high impact I always exceed the high-end of…

HRM vs. Machine calorie count
Hi all, I worked out indoors today for the first time in ages, because I am away on business and couldn't go outside. I still had my trusty HRM with me, though, so I headed to the hotel fitness room to walk/jog on the treadmill. I spent 50 minutes on the treadmill walking at 5.0 at a 3 incline with 60 min intervals of…

It's time to help others while we are helping ourselves! Several of us in the MFP community participated in the Biggest Loser Pound for Pound Challenge, and at last count we were responsible for donating over 130 pounds of food to Food Banks across the US. Roserex and I thought it would be a great idea to start our own…

Thank you, MFP!
Tomorrow is my official weigh-in day, but today I was bored so I redid my measurements a day early -- I've lost at least an inch in all areas . . . 2 inches in my thighs which are my toughest area! I am really happy with how this system is working for me and how excited I am to see results! Thank you, everyone at MFP!

McDonalds -- So Not Worth It!
Hi all, Yesterday was Marathon Monday here in Boston, and since it is also Patriots' Day it is truly a city-wide holiday in every aspect . . . if you aren't running the race, most likely you are hanging out in one of the restaurants/bars/cafes that line the race route just to participate in the energy and cheer people on…

Blackberry Jam -- YUMMY!
This may be old news to some of you, but I just had a delicious breakfast and had to share . . . I am usually adverse to anything "sugar-free" or "fat-free" because it usually tastes horrible, but yesterday at the grocery store I decided to try Smuckers Sugar-free Seedless Blackberry jam . . . only 10 calories per serving,…

Too much protein?
Hi all, I have been consistently over my recommended protein intake every day since I started tracking (on Sunday). Is this really harmful? I am always at or under on the fat and carbs . . .

Getting Real w/ myself
Hi Everyone! I started using this site on Sunday, and I am already amazed by how honest it is keeping me . . . I have never been severely overweight, and as a Yoga instructor and a vegetarian I was always able to fool myself into thinking I was as fit as I could possibly be. But since turning 30 two years ago, my body has…
