MFP doesn't see Fitbit, but Fitbit sees MFP
Sorry for posting this here, but support takes forever to respond. Has anyone else had this problem? My Fitbit sees what I've entered into MFP, but all of a sudden MFP doesn't see my Fitbit activity. I've tried logging out of everything and logging back in, turning stuff off and back on -- not getting anywhere ... Help?

How can anyone eat the RDA of potassium??
Okay, I have to admit that I never really looked at my nutritional stats until very recently. But when I did, I found that I suck at getting enough iron. Easy enough to take a supplement for that. But potassium? -- Impossible! Potassium "supplements" only give you like 3% of your RDA or something ridiculous. And the RDA is…

HATE HRM chest strap. Suggestions?
Luckily, the HRM belongs to my husband and I didn't buy the thing since I cannot STAND the chest strap. I've put it on twice, worn it around the house and adjusted it a few times on both occasions, then ripped it from my torso before heaving a huge sigh of relief and leaving for the gym. I also hate wearing a bra, so…

Surprising NSVs
I was never HUGE. Yes, I'm only 5' 3" and I weighed over 150, but I was still not someone you'd take a second look at -- for better or worse. But I DID have cankles. Even when I weighed 119. There was no hint of an achilles tendon at the base of my calves. No hollows on either side of that mythical tendon. Dresses were my…

Get over the size thing!
Honestly, women, clothing sizes are for the birds. There's no rhyme or reason in pants sizes for females. Worrying about whether you're a size 16 or a size 2 is the most useless way for you to spend your energy in the history of energy expenditure. GET OVER IT! I am just shy of 5'4" and have lost 30 pounds over the past…

Substituting Greek Yogurt for Buttermilk in Baking
Just saying: Last night I made a pumpkin bread that asked for 1/4 cup of buttermilk. I wasn't going to buy a freaking QUART of buttermilk just to use 1/4 cup (why buttermilk only comes in quarts is beyond me). So I substituted the same amount of my trusty Fage 0%. YUM! Happy baking.

5'4" - 30 pounds down - with pics!
Okie-dokie! I'm hoping these pics show up ... Nine months and 30 pounds lighter, here's where I've gotten with the help of MFP. The before pictures are actually a few years old, but I lived in that body for a whole lot of years, so it's pretty darned close! The after shot is from today. Stats: 49 years old 5' 3.5" SW:…

Body Fat Measurements -- WTF??
Okay, I realize that the only way to get a truly accurate measurement of body fat is to do the immersion thing. But my gym doesn't have that, so I asked my trainer to measure my fat with the only tools at her disposal: The little machine that looks like a WII remote for Mario Cart, and calipers. I know that body-fat…

You look GREAT!
Today I was at the step class that I've been taking since I began getting in shape in February. At the point in class where we put our steps away and swapped them for mats to do ab work, a longtime (and very fit) class-goer came striding over to me. She grabbed me by the shoulders, looked me in the eye and said, "Okay, you…

Questions for you HRM experts
I wore my husband's Polar HRM the other night on a walk with our dogs. I had set the watch with my sex, weight and age. Then walked for 40 minutes at 3 mph (husband was wearing gps watch, so that was accurate). Afterwards the thing told me I'd burned a whopping TWELVE (12) calories. Yeah, right. Here are my questions:…

HRM strap advice PLEASE!
Is is just me, or does anyone else HATE to wear a chest strap? I've tried my husband's older Polder but I CANNOT use it because the strap makes me insane. But maybe straps are better now? -- Anyone updated their HRM and found the strap is more comfortable? -- On this Polder the sensor part is housed in hard plastic and my…

Excellent little video on the need to use a food scale
MSF74 just posted this on another board. Great little video that's convinced me I have to go out NOW and buy a food scale. Alas, measuring cups and spoons are no longer my friends. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVjWPclrWVY Enjoy, and thanks MSF74!

Favorite brand of whole-wheat wrap?
Hello! Who's shopped around for the tastiest wraps and found favorites? -- I'm just talking the wrap itself (I can figure out how to stuff it!) I'm not married to the idea of whole wheat, but want some fiber in there. I'd also like to keep the calories below 150 per wrap. I've tried a couple of different whole wheat…

New to running - track or street??
I'm considering trying to run. Wow, I can't even believe I typed that. But anyway, is it better to start on a track so it's easier on my joints and I can effortlessly keep tabs on my distance, or is it better to start on the street, since the scenery is more interesting and it won't become mind-numbingly dull immediately?…

What? Better sex HOW?
Oh, just kidding. But since I have your attention, I was ruminating about how seriously we take this weight-loss/fitness-attainment journey, how little slack we allow ourselves, and how little we trust ourselves to figure it out without the help of 5,000 "experts". I realize that I've only been at this MFP thing for two…

Spinners: How long 'till your behind stops killing you?
Okay, I get that when you're spinning you're supposed to be up on your feet pumping away and not sitting on your keister. But when I tried it a bunch of years ago, I just wasn't strong enough to stay up and I had to do a lot of the class sitting. Even though I had a gel cover for the bike seat, my sitz bones (I think…

Gym NSV
I do a step aerobics class on Thursdays where we do a lot of weight work for our upper bodies. I always get a spot in the front because I need to be able to see the instructor in order to keep up (just call me Grace -- not!), but I only look at myself in the great big mirrors if I need to check my form, since I have the…

Why doesn't my news feed match my diary??
This is so weird. My news feed is reporting my exercise as being WAY higher than what I've entered in my diary. Like yesterday it said I'd burned over 1,000 calories. Yeah, in my dreams! Anyone have this problem before? Suggestions to fix it? My diary is open. Thank you!

Best AFFORDABLE (cheap) DVD? 30-Day Shred? Other?
Hello! I'm looking to grab a workout DVD for those days that I can't make it to the gym. My ideal video would be an intense, 60-minute workout that doesn't require too much lateral movement (tricky knee, but I can modify) and has good music. I see a lot of folks talking about the 30-Day Shred, which is ten bucks at Target…

Sagginess ... (is that even a word??)
So I'm nearly 49 and working to lose 25 pounds. 10 pounds in so far and happily working hard to get rid of the next 15. I'm working out daily (dance aerobics with weights for an hour 6x per week and one day of two hours hiking), keeping my daily, after-excersie calories between 1200-1500 most days. I eat back every…

Recommendations on HRM's?

Hello! I'm new in town ...
... or new on site or something like that ... Actually, I've been using MFP for about a month. Tracking what I eat and what exercise I do. Not sure how to open my diary or whatever or how to make those cute little banners that show goals. Can someone point me to where those instructions live? Thanks! I'm female, 48, need…
