Spinners: How long 'till your behind stops killing you?

Okay, I get that when you're spinning you're supposed to be up on your feet pumping away and not sitting on your keister. But when I tried it a bunch of years ago, I just wasn't strong enough to stay up and I had to do a lot of the class sitting. Even though I had a gel cover for the bike seat, my sitz bones (I think that's what they're called) ended up hurting so badly that I swore to never spin again.

Except that now I want to try again. I'm wondering how long it takes to get used the the beating my *kitten* will take. Excuse my French.

Thoughts?

It's been years since my first spin class but it seems like it took about three classes before I stopped feeling sore. I've been doing spin for about 15 years and if I take several weeks off, it comes back to haunt me!
By the way, did the instructor in that spin class expect you to stand for the whole class? I've never had a class like that. We usually alternate sitting and standing, with standing being optional.
Glad to hear you're going back to give it another try! Be warned-it can be addictive!
